So I beat another game that's not actually part of my backlog. I just finished the first Uncharted. I'm not going to count it towards my backlog, however, because like Modern Warfare 2 I don't actually own the game.

Well - here's a decade's worth of games I bought that I never got around to finishing on the PC, Xbox 360, DS, Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube. I'm sparing you my Dreamcast and PS1 backlogs. Things got really bad in the area of PC games once I started buying from Steam, GOG and Impulse last year.

My main New Year's resolution this year is to save money so that my wife and I can put more money into fixing up our house, getting new furniture, etc., hence this list. A lot of these games I played for a few hours and then never touched them again. A few of them I played for hours, sometimes upwards of a month, but never finished (mainly sandbox stuff like GTA and Oblivion - you get the idea). And yes, there are a few here that got an hour's play and never darkened my monitor/TV screen again.

All goals here are assumed to be simply "finish the game once" unless otherwise stated. For games that have multiple modes of play, we'll just assume it means I'm going to beat whatever the standard mode is unless otherwise specified.

I don't expect to finish everything here. This is simply a way of laying everything out so I know what I have - just need to go the whole year without buying a new game.

I plan on posting updates on my progress once a week. Join me in my madness!

I got a few hours into that one, and as much as I loved the fighting it was kicking my ass bad so I put it down. Maybe I'll get back to it soon...

I tried Alien Shooter and got a few levels in, but I just don't like it. It's too repetitive for my tastes, and I hit a bug on Mission 4 that made me restart the level. I don't think I'll spend any more time with it.

I started playing Alien Shooter 2, however, and so far it's much better. It's got some actual scenarios and little bit of plot. I'm optimistic I'll have more fun with this one.

Does anyone know if Zombie Shooter is more like the first or second Alien Shooter?

You know, I typically don't spend more than $10 on a game, but they keep throwing great $10-or-less games at me! Knock it off, Steam and retail clearances.

!Falloffthewagon 9/31. Bought Darksiders, trade-ins got me half off, which was cool. Unfortunately the figure of War I got with it is awful. Like, chemist toy rack quality. What a shame - I was looking forward to having War standing beside Ezio on a desk. I also took GTA 4 back off. The DLC is apparently not coming to PS3 after all, and I don't want to trudge through it if I have nothing to move onto next.

I think I'm getting near done with Bayonetta. I played it for a good 5 hours today, and it's only supposed to be 10-15 hours long. I'll probably replay it a bit since there's so much to unlock and collect, but beating the final boss and getting the credits is 'beaten' in my book.

New Super Mario Bros Wii has been beaten! My only problem with the game? Level design doesn't quite stand up to SMB3. But let's put that in perspective - getting an A compared to an A+ is not a bad thing. Absolutely wonderful game.

Completely addicted to Darksiders and I just got it yesterday. I'm speeding through it nicely, fast enough that I make good time but slow enough that I savor it's greatness. I'm past the halfway mark already so it won't too much longer hopefully and then it'll be back to the shittiness of Mercs 2.

Just finished HL2 Episode 2 and I have to say that it was really fantastic. Best entry in the Half Life series so far IMHO. The ending really catched me.

Now I don't know what to play next. Maybe I'll give Colonization a shot. Don't need another action game right now.

    New list:

    Red is currently playing
    Lime is finished

    PC

    - Stalker SoC - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - Red Alert 3 - Finish all campaigns (Halfway through the first one now)
    - Half Life 2
    - Half Life 2 Episode 1
    - Half Life 2 Episode 2 - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - Colonization - Finish one game on medium difficulty or something (Already played a few hours)
    - Empire: Total War - Finish one game (If I can warm up to the scenario somehow, otherwise it's gone)
    - Modern Warfare 2 - Finish Campaign (4th mission or something)
    - Defense Grid - Finish (Halfway through, I think)
    - Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 - Finish (4th mission or something)
    - Torchlight - Defeat the final boss on Very Hard in Hardcore mode (Already played the heck out of it)
    - Dragon Age: Origins - Finish Campaign (At about 10% I think)
    - Warcraft III: Frozen Throne - Finish Campaign (Only played through Reign of Chaos)
    - Gothic 2 - Finish Main Quest (a few hours in)
    - Disciples 2 - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - Saints Row 2 - Finish (Haven't played yet. Damn 5$ Steam sale)
    - Prototype - Finish (a few hours in)
    - Unreal Tournamet 3 - Play through campaign and some Multiplayer
    - Heroes of Might an Magic V - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - World in Conflict - Play through campaign (A few missions in)

    - Ninja Gaiden 2 - Finish (A few hours in)
    - Advanced Warfighter - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - Braid - Finish (I think I may be too stupid for this game though. Makes my brain hurt)
    - Shadow Complex - Finish (A few hours in)

    PSP

    - Warhammer 40k: Squad Command - Finish (5th mission)
    - Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions - Finish (20 hours in)
    - Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness - Finish the story mode (20 hours in)
    - Patapon - Finish (A few hours in)

Dragon Quest 5: Hand Of The Heavenly Bride
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring Of Fates

For just about every Zelda game I've played the character name has been pretty tasteless, so you shouldn't feel alone there.

Give Castlevania a go, I'm starting to warm to the series even if it doesn't love me back </3

I can try, but I warn you that I played the UU games when they originally came out and haven't played them since, so my memory of them is a bit fuzzy. Arx was actually intended to be UU3, and in that respect, it did remind me of the UU games, from what little I played of Arx.

So I bought Lost Oddysey, but this time, I'll be committed to playing this one. How long should I expect it to be?

This makes me feel like there should be a site out there for a list of the time expected to beat a game. That would be useful.

Speaking of names, it's a shame I'm a decent way into Chrono Trigger on the DS, I should have done this run naming everyone Lavos so the game turns into utter nonsense.

I consider Colonization done after putting another 6 hours into it and not having fun. Strangely enough, I played the hell out of the original and was loving every second of it.

What really puts me of now is the level of micromanagment you have to do. I guess I didn't mind back then (also I had way more time on my hands).

Next up for PC: Red Alert 3

Also, time limited purple coin levels in SMG can die in a fire.

    New list:

    Red is currently playing
    Lime is finished

    PC

    - Stalker SoC - Finish (Haven't played yet)
    - Red Alert 3 - Finish all campaigns (Halfway through the first one now)
    - Half Life 2
    - Half Life 2 Episode 1
    - Half Life 2 Episode 2
    - Colonization - not finished but just having no fun

    PSP

    - Warhammer 40k: Squad Command - Finish (5th mission)
    - Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions - Finish (20 hours in)
    - Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness - Finish the story mode (20 hours in)
    - Patapon - Finish (A few hours in)
    - Mega Man Powerred Up - Finish (3 bosses down)

    Wii

I ended up greatly reducing my backlog by getting rid of stuff I figured I would never play, didn't want to play, or wasn't BC on the 360.

I almost feel like this is manageable now.
