The Deus Ex sale, on Steam... and the Arx Fatalis sale, on GOG. Technically I didn't get anything new, since I have discs for these somewhere, but as I haven't cataloged my PC collection yet, they're still new to the backlog.

Bought PAEP3 and the two bundled games on release day. Then I started reading up on Xenoblade and I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!

10 of the 13 updates on this page include Falling off the Wagon and the Steam sale hasn't even started yet. The neglected corpses of backlogs are bloating under the summer sun!
Finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and the Missing Link DLC). Not a bad game at all, really captured the spirit of the first. The ending was lame, but I lived through Mass Effect 3, so nothing can disappoint me now, and while it was fun catching all the references to Deus Ex (this being a prequel), I KNOW none of this shit is referenced in the original, and the big plot point from HR would kinda have been a big deal.

I really liked Enslaved; it was a tad linear, but gorgeous and fun.
Me too. The combat felt pretty wonky at first, but it was a blast once I got the hang of it. I also enjoyed how sometimes the waves of mechs felt like puzzles that you could solve for more efficient destruction.
So it pains me to pick Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom as my next game. It was really fun enough at first and gave off a Team Ico vibe, I stopped playing it 2/3 of the way through. The combat was mind-numbingly repetitive and enemies respawn after you leave a room. (Making backtracking/collecting McGuffins that only appear during the short in-game night cycle a huge pain in the butt.)
Oh, and I'm updating my 2012 goals with Don't Buy Anything From the Steam Summer Sale. If I fail at this, I'll slap some red text of shame in my main challenge log and leave it there until 2013.

It's pretty much a given that I'm going to buy something during the steam summer sale. I almost always do. Games are so cheap, it's like 5 games that I may or may not play for $10? Sign me up please. Shit, I bought Max Payne 1 and 2 during the last sale for about $5 together and still haven't beaten them.

DKCR is pretty awesome. Has a good nostalgia feel to it. Also Sunshine got a lot of shit for being a game about cleaning up trash, but it is one of my favorite super mario games. So colorful and just great great great video game design all the way through.
I think I'm safe for the Steam summer sales; I can't think of anything that I really missed that I care about, except maybe Skyrim. If that goes on sale, expect me to jump off all the wagons.

So yeah, steam sale is out. And yeah, I'm jumpin' that wagon today, if not today then definitely next week.
Rain Slick Ep1 Complete. Not a bad game, terrific dialog. Combat wasn't that interesting, and the absurd Enemy HPs at the end of the game didn't do it any favors. Worth the $1 I payed for it, heh.
I finished Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. Despite my griping a few days ago, I enjoyed it a lot more after taking a long break from it.
I'm about to enter what I hope is the final dungeon in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I put a bit more effort into Sonic Unleashed, too. Still stuck on the final level, so my new plan is to grind XP and Lives for a while in easy levels.
Edit: I doubt anyone cares enough to be nosy, but if you happen to look at my Steam profile and see that I got a Summer Sale Achievement for buying a game, that was a gift for someone.

1. Someone lend me the willpower to resist buying Binding of Issac on Steam today. I've heard good things, but it doesn't LOOK like something I'd want to play, and I refuse to look up more info on it in case it turns out to be something I want.
2. I just had issues loading this page of the thread, but they've settled down. A mod tells me this happens sometimes with "old threads", so if anyone has any more issues loading this page (or the current page) of the thread, PM me and I'll remake it.

For Backlog purposes, It's a difficult game to truly consider "finished." You'll probably need to sink 50 to a hundred hours into it before nearing anything resembling completion. Plus it will be dirt cheap again in both the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales, so it won't hurt if you hold off on buying it.
Rain-Slick Ep2 beaten. Story wasn't as good as one, and the battles were a huge over-HP slog. Someone let Hothead know that a battle system that relies on watching circles slowly fill so you can play minigames that are prone to frame stutter is probably not the best system to base a game on.
Yeah, I've been gifted a few games, and I bought a few games from the Steam sale so far. It's ridiculous. Nintendo is even doing sales now so I bought Mighty Switch Force on my 3DS. I'm still working towards finishing Layton and 1000 Amps. I did beat Skylanders though, but I'm still playing that when my sister-in-law comes over as I just got a Skylander of each element and all 4 expansions so we can 100% the game. So I guess that's one game done.

Finished Super Mario Sunshine upon KoopahTroopah's recommendation. Considering how much grumbling I've heard about it, it was a pretty good game with a few minor quibbles. Pretty short, too, but I'm not complaining!

Finished Ring of Fates. What an odd, odd game. Storyline is what drove me to the end, the game mechanics and controls were terrible. Definitely not playing New Game+.
Now to find a new DS game to start.

Bought PAEP3 and the two bundled games on release day. Then I started reading up on Xenoblade and I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!
...I fear that the rest of the games in my backlog may never be completed.

Finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and the Missing Link DLC). Not a bad game at all, really captured the spirit of the first. The ending was lame, but I lived through Mass Effect 3, so nothing can disappoint me now, and while it was fun catching all the references to Deus Ex (this being a prequel), I KNOW none of this shit is referenced in the original, and the big plot point from HR would kinda have been a big deal.
All in all, worth the $cheeponsteam price.

Me too. The combat felt pretty wonky at first, but it was a blast once I got the hang of it. I also enjoyed how sometimes the waves of mechs felt like puzzles that you could solve for more efficient destruction.
So it pains me to pick Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom as my next game. It was really fun enough at first and gave off a Team Ico vibe, I stopped playing it 2/3 of the way through. The combat was mind-numbingly repetitive and enemies respawn after you leave a room. (Making backtracking/collecting McGuffins that only appear during the short in-game night cycle a huge pain in the butt.)
Oh, and I'm updating my 2012 goals with Don't Buy Anything From the Steam Summer Sale. If I fail at this, I'll slap some red text of shame in my main challenge log and leave it there until 2013.
DKCR is pretty awesome. Has a good nostalgia feel to it. Also Sunshine got a lot of shit for being a game about cleaning up trash, but it is one of my favorite super mario games. So colorful and just great great great video game design all the way through.

I am safe from the SteamSale for today.
Rain Slick Ep1 Complete. Not a bad game, terrific dialog. Combat wasn't that interesting, and the absurd Enemy HPs at the end of the game didn't do it any favors. Worth the $1 I payed for it, heh.
I finished Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. Despite my griping a few days ago, I enjoyed it a lot more after taking a long break from it.
I'm about to enter what I hope is the final dungeon in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I put a bit more effort into Sonic Unleashed, too. Still stuck on the final level, so my new plan is to grind XP and Lives for a while in easy levels.
Edit: I doubt anyone cares enough to be nosy, but if you happen to look at my Steam profile and see that I got a Summer Sale Achievement for buying a game, that was a gift for someone.

1. Someone lend me the willpower to resist buying Binding of Issac on Steam today. I've heard good things, but it doesn't LOOK like something I'd want to play, and I refuse to look up more info on it in case it turns out to be something I want.
2. I just had issues loading this page of the thread, but they've settled down. A mod tells me this happens sometimes with "old threads", so if anyone has any more issues loading this page (or the current page) of the thread, PM me and I'll remake it.
For Backlog purposes, It's a difficult game to truly consider "finished." You'll probably need to sink 50 to a hundred hours into it before nearing anything resembling completion. Plus it will be dirt cheap again in both the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales, so it won't hurt if you hold off on buying it.
Rain-Slick Ep2 beaten. Story wasn't as good as one, and the battles were a huge over-HP slog. Someone let Hothead know that a battle system that relies on watching circles slowly fill so you can play minigames that are prone to frame stutter is probably not the best system to base a game on.
Yeah, I've been gifted a few games, and I bought a few games from the Steam sale so far. It's ridiculous. Nintendo is even doing sales now so I bought Mighty Switch Force on my 3DS. I'm still working towards finishing Layton and 1000 Amps. I did beat Skylanders though, but I'm still playing that when my sister-in-law comes over as I just got a Skylander of each element and all 4 expansions so we can 100% the game. So I guess that's one game done.
I (finally!) finished Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga from my Main Backlog yesterday.
I'm currently playing Super Mario Sunshine from my Gift Backlog and getting ready to play Rainslick 3 from my Main Backlog/bandwagon failure list.

Skyrim.
Finished Super Mario Sunshine upon KoopahTroopah's recommendation. Considering how much grumbling I've heard about it, it was a pretty good game with a few minor quibbles. Pretty short, too, but I'm not complaining!
I'm currently playing Rainslick 3. Maybe I'll start working on Super Meat Boy, too.
