Professor Layton and the Unwound Future beaten!
I missed a few puzzles though, so eventually I'll have to go back and get them. I'm so burnt out on puzzles right now though.
Ending spoiler
I'm so ticked they didn't end up locking up Bill as well. He KILLED people because he was too stupid to wait for Dimitri to fix the machine, and he's still going to get to go on being the prime minister after all of this?! Not happy with that left alone through the ending. The rest of the game though, all the twists and turns? Amazing!
I finished off Parasite Eve. Killing babies has never been as satisfying.
Just wait until Dead Space. I found that example of baby doom to be much more horrifying.
Protip: To make the best of this simulation, you must be in a position to fend the baby off of your person.

Bludgeoning my way through Spider Man X-Men for SNES now. This game is difficult.
I can successfully beat Spider Man's intro stage, both Spidey and both Wolverine missions, and the first Storm mission without dying once, and bringing a total of 8 lives to burn on the rest of the game. Even with all of these lives, I cannot beat Storm 2, Cyclops 1 or Gambit 1.
More headbashing coming up!

Oh my god, that was easily the most frustrating game of my youth.
And the one that still haunts me to this day. I get anxiety just thinking about it.
You, should stop. And reward yourself with a new gaming purchase. Just turning that game on and not stroking out is an accomplishment.

What's this? An actual game finished??? Shock! Insanity! Also true. I'm done with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Completed the main story and 99% of the side missions before deciding that I didn't want to spend another week of commute time grinding items to beat that last mission. Maybe someday. If I'm desperate. And on an 18 hour plane ride.
Up next, it's time to go back to the DS. We'll see if Lock's Quest is more playable on a DS Lite while riding a train than it was on a DS Phat riding a bus.
Of course, I was also gifted Cthulhu Saves the World, and Vigilante 8, so my net total went up, but hey, completed game!

That's Arcade's Revenge right? It's also on Sega Genesis? I remember almost beating the Sega one to the point where I memorized Spiderman's stages. Cyclops's is nearly impossible, Gambit's is pretty fun but also nearly impossible. Storm's always reminded me of TMNT for NES and I hated it.

Grats dude, make yourself a medal and post it on your fridge or something. That game is straight unfair during the late levels.
In Gambit 1, the camera favors the left side of the screen (which you are running from). In both of Storm's levels, the camera favors the left side of the screen also, never panning to the right regardless of which direction you're going. Only one of Storm's shots can be rendered at once too, which is crap since the shot and the *POW* animation for killing things are all the same animation. You can't shoot again until the *POW* disappears. Spiderman level 2 and Cyclops level 1 are built largely on leaps of faith; memorization of level layout from death after undeserved death.
It's kinda silly really, how the camera was coded so incredibly well for Spiderman (stay centered) and Wolverine/Cyclops (pan in the direction I am moving so that I can see my obstacles sooner!). It really feels like each character was built on an entirely different graphical and environmental engine, which would lend to the reason why the camera just couldn't get corrected before the game released.
All that said, the music is actually pretty damn good, and matches the stages really well. Swinging on webs as Spider Man feels pretty sweet. Now if they had just added some code to let us shoot a swingy web while in mid air, it would have been complete. Actually, there was one great thing that this game did before it became popular. In Spider Man 1 (the stage after his intro stage) your end boss bleeds red crystals when he takes damage, which award a tiny amount of life when picked up. Healing awarded while progressing in a boss fight is a real lifesaver.

You are the greatest gamer who has ever lived. I'm not being sarcastic at all, seriously.
You want to know? I'll tell you, without completely hijacking this thread's primary purpose:
I did it old-skool. You remember how back in the day, some games were hard because you just needed time to memorize stuff? Sure, you could use the Warp Zone in 1-2 and 4-2 to get to World 8 in Super Mario Bros. super fast, but then you'd run out of lives before you could memorize it in time. Same thing for this. Know where your extra lives are. I already knew I could do some of the levels perfectly, because I did it a decade ago. Spider man intro stage was all a matter of speed clearing it so that it would be less of a pain to do. Same is true for Spidey 1, Wolverine 1 and Storm 1. Memorize it and play it safe. Remember where your health pickups are. When you get to the spots you don't know? Time for trial and error. I already knew that I had my first 4 lives, plus 3 of the extra lives I got from the levels I could clear flawlessly, so I had plenty of mans to learn with. What happens when I take a leap of faith at this part of Spidey 2? Oops, impromptu death via bottomless pit. It's okay, 6 more lives to figure this shit out. And when those 6 lives are gone? Well, I can get right back to this exact point way faster on my next playthrough because of how thoroughly greased my wheels are. Spidey 2 was also a great lesson in learning what parts are okay to skip; there are countless pickups baiting you to an abrupt death. Oh, and you know those mine carts full of pink stuff in Cyclops levels? 6 shots and they'll give you 1/2 your life bar back. Crazy!
2 of my deaths happened in Gambit 1, 2 deaths in Gambit 2, 1 death in Storm 1, and 1 death each as Wolverine and Storm during the last stretch to the final boss. It's also worth mentioning that I had never beaten Gambit 2 until this fated attempt, so everything after the point where you beat each story mission was entirely new. The stress you feel when you only have 3/4 of a health bar and only one more extra life during a final boss you have never fought? Pretty heavy. I got lucky and didn't have to rely on that last life.
So, there you have it. Onward to emptying our backlogs!

I finished Episode 2 of The Walking Dead last night.
And I'm really tempted to buy The Last Story on the Wii since that came out today. I also want to get Darksiders 2 but I still have to beat Darksiders 1. I really have to just sit down for like a week and plow through these games.
This guy speaks the truth. You could conceivably beat them both in one long day.
I think my favorite stuff in those games is the "4 gods wait on the window sill" poems.
"None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me!"
Unfortunately my gaming time is limited, so I'm happy if I have an hour to play. I'm sure I can truck through both in good time, though. And yeah, was def a fan of that opening poem.

Steam shows me having 11h between them, and I didn't really do much grinding or anything, and only played through each once.
Finished Solatorobo! Definitely a lot of fun, but not very challenging.

I woke up Saturday with an urge to play Metroid, and play Metroid I did.
I beat both Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion in one sitting. Both are fantastic games and still hold up today.
I got one of those job things, and then I got one of those check things, and then I went a little insane. First I ordered a Vita, which came with Mortal Kombat as a freebie. Then I tossed Gravity Rush and Sound Shapes on top of that. I should note that Sound Shapes is weird to catagorize, cause it came with the PS3 version, and does that Cross Play thing. Calling it a Vita game anyway cause that's where I'm going to play it.
Then I ended having a conversation about Dragon Quest, and remember how quickly V became my favorite RPG of all time, and then the sickness kicked in. So, I now have every main series DQ title on the DS. I'm about halfway through IX now and am loving it. Not as much as V, but hey, that is one high bar. The multiplayer is fantastic as well.

Also grats, but I seem to spend more when I have a jobby, so *Insert Simpsons Haloween episode where Bart goes to the Occult section and finds a book that has faces moaning "Evil, evil! Bewarrrrrrrre!", until he shuts it and all the faces yell "Ow!"*
Speaking of which, I'm in the market for the Metroid Prime collection on the Wii. Is that like, the forbidden fruit of Wii gaming now? It seems way over priced and hard to find.

So I'm really bad at this backlog completion thing... I went looking for a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy that wasn't $150+ and to my surprise found a local copy at a GameStop near my work for $50. Which is still kind of expensive for old games, but I felt was definitely worth it for three Metroid games with Wii functionality and Widescreen support.
While I was there I saw a charging station which I felt compelled to buy because I just started getting yet another barrage of battery level messages from my Wii-motes. As well as another nunchuck for my second remote because I never got one, and you need nunchucks for Mario Strikers which my friends and I play all the time.
Then I remembered I had a buy 2 pre-owned get 1 free coupon from when I renewed my power card. These guys know how to suck you in and offer savings when it's the least timely. So I bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Okami for the Wii as well. I had just beaten SMG1 last month and I still have yet to play Okami. Trying to kick out as much lifetime as I can out of this console.
If I had to pick a job I'd least be good at, it would be an accountant.
I keep fighting the urge to go hunting down the Trilogy. I have all three games, and that would be a whole lot of money for widescreen. On the other hand, I do enjoy widescreen.

I finally knocked out Red Dead Redemption tonight. The last hour of the game was especially remarkable, and changed my attitude toward the entire experience. I'm at 76% complete and will do an achievement chase down the road, after I beat a bunch of other games.
Now to get through D3 Inferno and the Battlefield 3 single player campaign.
2008, 2012, 2014 D&D "Rare With No Sauce" League Fantasy Football Champion!
Man...now that Diablo 3 1.0.4 has come out, my Backloggery will be neglected again. I made good headway while I wasn't playing though, as I finished Arkham Asylum, On the Rain-Slick Precipice 1, Pokemon Conquest, Skyrim (FINALLY!), and made good headway into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2.
And I had just picked up Advance Wars Dual Strike and Days of Ruin for more DS fun...who knows when I'll play them now!

Metroid Prime 3 beaten, 98% on my first playthrough. Hypermode difficulty is unlocked...but It'll be a moon or three before I'm going to revisit this game. Definitely a well-thought entry in the series, definitely fun to play, very fun boss encounters. My favorite thing about this series has always been figuring out the puzzles behind the boss fights. Very unique, very brainy, and very Nintendo.
Really enjoying continuing the classic Doom. On level 9 in Doom II now.

I saw the Ico/SotC HD remake at Gamestop, and since I NEVER SEE IT ANYWHERE, I went ahead and bought it. Of course, Ico was already on my PS2 Backlog, so...
Fun game. It wasn't as tightly wrapped as 2, and a few of the gunfights were bullshit, but the overall story wasn't bad, the Voice Actors were on top of their game, and Naughty Dog can still string together set pieces like nobody's business.

Shadow of the Colossus is one of, if not the best PS2 game out there. I'd probably rank it #2 only to Kingdom Hearts 2. It's just so thematic and perfect. It literally oozes class. Ico is pretty sweet too but I didn't like it nearly as much, considering it's one long escort mission.
!UpdateStatus -1
I don't think I've been keeping track of my status on here, but I beat Metroid:Other M on Saturday. Then I read that there's a secret boss? If I don't need 100% to go do that then I'll probably do that, otherwise I'm done with that game. It's such a mixed bag for me. The gameplay and camera are really great but there are so many design decisions that had me questioning why the fuck they changed the formula at all? It should have just been Metroid Fusion with Ninja Gaiden combat, that's it! None of this ripping off Zelda by cutting e-tanks into fours, only 1 missile per upgrade, can't shoot missiles unless locked on in FPS mode, replenish your life/missiles at any time bullshit. I'd give it a 7.5/10, worth it if you like the story of the franchise but easily skippable for better games like Fusion or Super Metroid.
Calling Theatrhythm Final Fantasy done. I've beaten pretty much everything on Ultimate difficulty at least once, have 100% total critical on most Basic / Expert difficulty songs, unlocked most (though not all) of the characters, and taken 3 sets of characters to level 99.
Got Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume from Goozex, and bought Guild Wars 2, so my progress is going to drop off substantially.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations finished. Very cool continuation of the storyline, very exceptional action sequences. A very theatrical game. A large amount of the Skinner Box exists with shop-purchasing and out-of-country Assassin contracts (similar to Final Fantasy Tactics's "I had a good feeling!" It was kind of a shame though. In Brotherhood, I eagerly sent my Assassins out on their quests to get them to level up and be more useful. But in Revelations, there isn't enough game time to allow all of your subordinates to finish leveling. Didn't feel any sense of urgency to pursue that skinner box. Also, this game had much less in the vein of "throw spears through mans," which made Brotherhood so damn fun.
Next up on the list will be.......hmmmm.......Jungle Strike feels like a worthy effort.
***EDIT***
I no longer own a working Genesis console. No need to keep the games on the backlog, so I won't be playing Jungle Strike.
Goldeneye on 64 is too hard and the controls too obnoxious to be fun, so having it halfway completed on 00 Agent difficulty is good enough for me. Just started Conker's Bad Fur day, and I'm seeing how the context was probably incredibly terrific back when it came out. A lot of the humor so far is kinda lost on me, though the beehive/gun turret was a clever change of pace, and my enemy accidentally creating my health bar (made of anti-gravity chocolate) is probably my favorite part so far.
*last EDIT I promise*
Origin has Mass Effect 3 on sale for $20 for labor day weekend, which is like, cheap.

Went to PAX Prime. Completed Anomaly: Warzone Earth (campaign anyway, close enough), Lock's Quest, and H.A.W.X. Of course, in the past few weeks I also received Just Cause II (thanks Steam thread), Guild Wars II (thanks, job), and CS:GO (thanks, wandering Valve guys). Also removed Beyond Good and Evil, as it was a Direct2Drive bonus purchase that apparently did not migrate to Gamefly.
Now playing Bioshock (again, finally), and Pursuit Force on my PSP.

Left 4 Dead 2 beaten.
Realized that I don't care to put the work toward Devil May Cry on Hard mode, so it's marked complete.
I don't even own Call of Duty: World at War anymore, so that's coming off.
Trimmed down Bayonetta, no desire to beat that on hard right now.
Close to halfway complete!

I finished off Parasite Eve. Killing babies has never been as satisfying.
I missed a few puzzles though, so eventually I'll have to go back and get them. I'm so burnt out on puzzles right now though.
Ending spoiler

-Rorschach
Oh my god, that was easily the most frustrating game of my youth.
And the one that still haunts me to this day. I get anxiety just thinking about it.
You, should stop. And reward yourself with a new gaming purchase. Just turning that game on and not stroking out is an accomplishment.

Grats dude, make yourself a medal and post it on your fridge or something. That game is straight unfair during the late levels.
!Update 34/87/1
Beat Arcade's Revenge and Rain Slick 2
Don't have World at War anymore, and I'm kinda glad for that, so it's off the list.
Skyward Sword and Other M are on their way from Amazon.
Forgot I had Puzzle Quest 2 unbeaten on 360. Just snuck a peak at a walkthrough and that game is really freaking long.....and while it is gorgeous, it is heavy on the grind. Giving up.
Next project: finish Metroid Prime 3

You are the greatest gamer who has ever lived. I'm not being sarcastic at all, seriously.
Congrats man. I don't know how you did it.
How..how did you do it?
-Rorschach
And I'm really tempted to buy The Last Story on the Wii since that came out today. I also want to get Darksiders 2 but I still have to beat Darksiders 1. I really have to just sit down for like a week and plow through these games.
On another note, just beat Arkham Asylum (now I can play Arkham City, woo!) and the main quest and most quest chains in Skyrim.
Starting On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness 1. Soooooo many games to play through.

Steam shows me having 11h between them, and I didn't really do much grinding or anything, and only played through each once.
Finished Solatorobo! Definitely a lot of fun, but not very challenging.
Still working on clearing everything on Theatrhythm and beating all the levels on Super Mario 3D Land.

I beat both Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion in one sitting. Both are fantastic games and still hold up today.
Metroid Fusion is one of the greatest games for the Gameboy Advance.

GRATS!
-Rorschach
Also grats, but I seem to spend more when I have a jobby, so *Insert Simpsons Haloween episode where Bart goes to the Occult section and finds a book that has faces moaning "Evil, evil! Bewarrrrrrrre!", until he shuts it and all the faces yell "Ow!"*
Speaking of which, I'm in the market for the Metroid Prime collection on the Wii. Is that like, the forbidden fruit of Wii gaming now? It seems way over priced and hard to find.

Now to get through D3 Inferno and the Battlefield 3 single player campaign.
2008, 2012, 2014 D&D "Rare With No Sauce" League Fantasy Football Champion!
Once this huuuuge time sink is done with, however, I have free reign to finish up a lot of shorter games before I pick up anything else substantial.

Uncharted 3 Beaten, Hard Difficulty!

Pinny Lanyard
Purple = current project(s)
Orange = not done yet
