Of ebay and shipping

So I'm fairly new to ebay, and I've got a small (non?)issue on my hands.

My first purchase arrived a week after the ship date, no problems whatsoever, and it was rather pleasant for a first time ebayer like myself.

Now my second item, on the other hand, was supposedly shipped on the 22nd of December, and I still didn't recieve it. I assumed the delay was caused by the holidays, so I didn't do anything about it. Eventually I noticed that this second seller was receiving positive feedback about 'fast shipping' dated the 27th and recieved the 2nd, which irked me somewhat.

I contacted them and was told that it was in fact shipped already, and that there was no tracking number because It's being shipped from the U.S to Canada (wtf?). My first seller listed the exact same shipping method (USPS First Class Mail International) and had a tracking number for me, and was also from the U.S.

So basically I'm wondering how long of a grace period do I give this seller before I start worrying?

I'd love to be the one disappoint you when I don't fall down

While not being blind to the possibility of a eBay seller dealing in bad faith, getting packages across the Canadian border can be... less than quick, at times. Your country's customs has a tendency to randomly hold packages for weeks at a time.

As for the tracking number, no clue there. I seem to recall that I've gotten tracking numbers when sending things to Canada, but I don't know if I've had to pay extra for the service. Mailing things within the US, we have to pay extra - and, even then, what we get is a "delivery confirmation" number which can't really be used for tracking in the way you'd use a UPS or FedEx tracking number, unless we pay a lot more for a real tracking number.

Customs can be annoying. It may take some time especially with the holidays.

I was mailing something yesterday and the person ahead of me needed to send something priority but Canada Post still can't guarantee 2 day delivery. Volume is still too high. And that's IN Canada.

Just keep waiting and hope it comes soon. If you look, it's only been 7 business days. Holiday time is slow.

I shipped my secret santa from the US to Canada and I couldn't get a tracking number.

It took a week to get to her btw during xmas season.

    YMMV
