The more I play this game, the more I think anyone who complains about the controls is insane. Everything fits perfectly. The only moves I've ever had trouble doing are the batmorph (It seems to be more of an insurance move to let you negate damage if you're a bit slow on a dodge, than something that you can actually use intentionally... I held off on buying it for awhile because I couldn't even get it to work in the try-before-you-buy) and those moves you have to do right as you finish up a dodge.
Everything else is spot on. I have no trouble remembering and executing my favorite combos, or having combos flow into each other, or adding in the special moves like the stiletto and breakdance when appropriate.
Moves as you finish a dodge?
You mean the ones where you just press and hold dodge and either punch or kick at the same time? Those need to timing.
Edit: Yeah I can see the PS3 controller getting super uncomfortable after a while.
Morninglord: Are you on PS3? That might be part of it.
Maybe that's it. The Xbox controller is much different and fits in my hand a lot better than the PS2 did. I got lots of cramps from games that required less button mashing/pressing.

Yeah, the Witch Twist and Umbra Kick. It's hard for me to reliably do them.

Press dodge and hold it. Immediately after pressing dodge and while holding it,also press and hold either punch or kick.
Like I said,no real timing involved. It should even work if you press and hold dodge and punch/kick at the same time.
I can get it to work like 1/3 of the time, but usually I press the attack too early and nothing happens, or I do it too late and she goes into the breakdance move instead.
God Alfheims are such a pain in the ass, the ones with the certain number of torture atacks are the most annoying by far. Eh, I only really get good at these sorta games when I hit a wall like that, so whatever.
Things I learned today
Pressing towards the enemy you're grabbing (with the whip) will make you zoom to them with a kick instead of pulling them to you
Ebon spear works outside of crow form (I didnt realize that till I accidentally hit the input and I was completely confused why I had just teleported accross the room)
Fairness can be grabbed with the whip after you break its armor
Fire form Durga can attack burning enemies, and it is actually slower than lightning form durga
I have not been using dodge offset, at all.
I would give up the whip since it's power is sorta lacking compared to other weapons, but setting down a bomb with the claws and yanking an angel into it is so satisfying
Raiden333: Basically, dodge and start holding the button as soon as possible. Keep both held down and she should do it

God damn this game is amazing and the gun bonus is equally so. I was absolutely amazed to discover it has a great heft to it and the stand was made of metal. I mean, it's one of the best ever pre-order items I have bought!
There are times where I am surprised at some of the similiar aspects of English/American culture and Japanese culture. Playing Bayonetta was not one of those times.

What works for me is I hit RT to start the cart wheel and then Y or B to do the move I want mid back flip. If you do it before she starts the spins she should perform the move you selected. You don't have to push RT + Y at the same time.

Anyway some stuff I wanted to mention.
When you freeze someone with the ice skatyes you can keep doing damage to them (with the ice skates at least, I haven't tested it with a different weapon).
You can cancel for dodge offset before your attack lands. Ie, P -> K -> P. You can cancel the K before it lands with a dodge and it will still register as having happened. Makes the alfheim that only lets you damage with weaves a lot easier as you don't need to touch anybody until the weave comes out.
You can do the weapon switch trick for rockets withP,P,P,P, Mash P. Eg electric claws on your hands, other set is kilgore. Mash it out and when you get to the little aoe thing switch to kilgore repeatedly. Not just once, you have to keep mashing the weapon switch button. You'll end up with that aoe becoming a missile storm going off in all directions. You get about 3 rockets per switch so if you want more than this you need to repeatedly hit weapon switch as fast as you can.
I only just found this out and have to go somewhere now, someone let me know how useful it is.

Bayonetta isn't a representation of japanese culture don't be absurd.
Baronetta was designed to be over the top to japanese people. They would also find it ridiculously over the top.
I mean yeah, it's in English and only English. I assume it was meant to seem, to Japanese people, oddly European.
I'm glad I'm not the only one for whom this doesn't rank high on the Japan scale. It's got a lot of noticeably Japanese elements, sure. But it's definitely not, say, Ar Tonelico.
Also notable in that there is no witch touching. Only the temptation of.
Just abuse the lightning mode on the claws/boot whatever they are. Jesus christ that thing is so overpowered... Not only does it deal ridiculous damage, its super fast, practically stunlocks enemies.
Is there any point to even using the fire mode on those?

Well I suppose the lightning mode won't let you walk on lava but other than that I can't think of too much!

I actually like Fire for multiple enemies more. It has a longer range and a bit more sweep, particularly in the Wicked Weave attacks. Plus the little death's head things stick around and trip up nearby foes.
But yeah, Lightning is basically instant death for smaller/single enemies.
How do you switch between the Fire and Lighting on the Claws?

I tend to find that the Fire Charge attack does a lot more damage though on its burst and is wider hitting. Plus if it doesn't hit it acts as a time bomb before detonating. But yeah. Lightning is rather rad when mixed with the katana.

Yeah, the Witch Twist and Umbra Kick. It's hard for me to reliably do them.
In contrast, DMC3 broke my square button. And Ninja Gaiden wore one of my analog sticks down to a nub.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

Downloaded the demo out of boredom, friggin sweet game.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
It's this trailer btw: Check the comments for hilarity and tears
Klyka, I think you need a Bayonetta break. This is serious. You have a problem.
We're here for you.

I just uploaded a video of myself telling everyone to buy Bayonetta.
I may have a problem.
This game is so good. And crazy. Maximum ridiculosity.
Of course nothing beats the final climax.
Nothing.

Every weapon has a point and every weapon can absolutely dominate all enemies.
It just depends on the player and what he wants to do.
@Jammer: I would have entered it but: Those 500 shirts are already gone by now and I am not in the US

Well it's just the fire mode has shitty slow combos, doesn't do hardly any damage, doesn't stun well at all, just seems real shitty...
I never asked for this!
It does more damage than lightning per hit. Definitely.

But really, you have to beat the game on Hard or something. Doesn't seem too tough. I bet some of you already have it done.

360 degree on left stick + attack. They really should tell the player this when you get the weapon.
