Jockey races look awesome - I'd want an 8-player mode though, where the winner on the infected team is the jockey that got into the saferoom first, and the winner on the survivor team is the last one in. Be fun to work against each other like that.
For one week, and one week only, I am back. I want to try out the Passing and some of the mutations and maybe do some Expert Realism for old time's sake.

I tried to play bleed out, but I couldn't even do a quick match.

Heh, so I read that for the Australian PC version of L4D2, all you do is change the application id from 590 to 510 to re enable gore. Now, if only the game wasn't still $110au.

Just get someone here who isn't Australian to gift it to you. It's $30US on the Steam store, so it's considerable savings.
I would offer, but I am Aussie sadly. :P

The downside is I don't have that much bandwidth to download it.
Hey could someone maybe give me the specifics on turning said gore on? Got an aussie friend who was interested in doing that, we found something online but maybe it just gave bad directions.

It's over at kotaku. If he tried it, let us know the results. They only got it working on the demo, so it would be good to hear if it works on the full game.
Also to the person talking about the jockey and survivor trying to go different directions: that is against the entire point.
The point of that 'game mode' is for the jockey player and the survivor player, wonder if both were on the same vent? To work together so they both win.
Any word on what todays Mutation is? I never did actually complete a bleed out game. It was interesting, a kind of fun challenge, but it wasnt something I ever really craved playing, like Hardcore Vs was.
I do, however, wish that some of these mutations would just be toggle-able in the options, because if/when I get 3 other good friends who are in the mood for some L4D2 again, I'd love to give Bleed Out another try.

I'd love a mutation of scavenge, where the infected only spawn as tanks, the area is littered with cars etc, and only getting hit by a physics object does damage.

Then the point of the player is to basically do nothing and let the jockey control everything.

I'm pretty sure that you move a fair bit faster "pushing" as a controlled survivor in the direction that the jockey wants to travel.

I get the feeling that just going to the safe house with a jockey is way too simple though - most of the maps bar a few sections are quite straight forward and the level of "teamwork" with the jockey would be pretty minimal.
I dunno, I just think the player vs jockey idea works better.

Most campaigns don't really lend themselves to this... there needs to be someway to climb ladders and set off events while being ridden...

That sounds amazing- give all the survivors the Hunter animation and let them jump around while the tanks try to splat them with cars.
Week 3 of the in game blog: New Mutation, Landslide Victory!, and what rages you?
New Mutation
Follow the Liter
Scavenge one can at a time.
No more fighting over what cans to grab first. This Mutation spawns only one group of cans at a time, so survivors know exactly where to go. There is only one problem: the Infected know exactly where they are going.
LANDSLIDE VICTORY!!!
Last week's poll asking if we should make Realism Versus a permanent mode ended up telling us clearly - make it permanent. The final results were 68% Yes, 21% No, and 11% No Opinion. Thanks everyone for voting, even those of you who have no opinion. Next week we will have news on when this Mutation will become permanent.
Don't Get Mad At This Poll
Do you play Versus Mode? Do you ever get frustrated mid-match and quit? Do you ever Rage Quit? If you do, why? While we can collect hard stats on this behavior, finding the motivation behind the behavior will help.
We will continue the Play with Devs games this Friday. We might even be forming Valve teams to take on your team! Look for us all this weekend using steam names - L4D2_DEV_1, L4D2_DEV_2, L4D2_DEV_3, L4D2_DEV_4, L4D2_DEV_5. All valid dev accounts are members of the Valve steam group. On the Xbox 360 we will be playing under L4D2 DEV 1, L4D2 DEV 2, L4D2 DEV 3, L4D2 DEV 4, L4D2 DEV 5. Our friends lists are full, but just play Follow the Liter and look for us. And please, try not to rage quit.
'next week news on when it's coming'? Goddamnit valve just patch it in right now.

........ Why would 11% of voters take the time to say they don't care?
I didn't think the first mutation deserves to be made permanent, i think it was more the attraction of new content that got so many people interested in it. As for the new mutation, sounds like fun but could turn one sided very quickly :P
Because some people are bad at things like communication. Its easy to take for granted how much simpler the outlines make everything (esp in vs). And.... some people don't like losing.

And superb.
That is what I got out of that video.

WAS AMAZING
I'm down for Jockey races!
That's because you'd accept being ridden by anything.
Not using the Armadeaddon servers for anything else, right? Who runs those, because we need to get in touch with them and show them this video.

Only 1-2 cans spawn at a time.
Then the point of the player is to basically do nothing and let the jockey control everything.
You could also ask someone to back it up on a DVD or two and send it to you. How much is it to send two DVDs to Australia from the US?
I'm pretty sure that you move a fair bit faster "pushing" as a controlled survivor in the direction that the jockey wants to travel.

People confuse me.
Why do they need to take a vote?

Have you been on the Valve forums? Do you really think the majority of people there are smart enough to realize this?
