none of that stuff matters alongside GT5

Hopefully they make racing fun this time

But they failed four previous times soooo

yeah i guess those 53 million copies the previous incarnations sold were mostly pack-ins and giveaways

That's how they got my sale!

    My PS2 came with GT3

I played it a couple times because at the very least it looked really neat and I was all into my shiny new system

most people play it because they love cars

(a lot of people love cars)

That's probably insanely appealing to someone that digs cars

The way I think of it, though, cars are pretty damn boring

You can take me away from the set courses and reward me for driving like a maniac and make things infinitely more interesting (Burnout)

You can even keep me in the set courses as long as you still let me drive mildly maniacally and keep it going with some throbbing techno music or something (Ridge Racer)

But taking something that already bores me to tears and then turning it into an RPG?

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

see i'm hardly a car nut (i don't even have a license) but the gt games are that passionate about their subject matter that it rubs off immediately. i've played every one since the original. i've got allegiences (my gt progression tends to go honda > audi > lotus) and i've seen the tracks rendered ever-better, and know them inside out. after a few laps on laguna seca i'll remember my best times from the last edition, and i won't sleep trying to tweak my car and perfect my corners for a better time

considering the new one is going to be all online and my times will probably be instantly comparable to my two gt-obsessed mates' times (they just bought ps3's over christmas in anticipation for this) i actually can't see it not being the most important game of the year for me

    Heavy Rain
    Gran Turismo 5
    MAG
    3D Game Dot Heroes
    The Last Guardian (maybe)

Sony's already kinda kicking ass this year in exclusives and E3 hasn't even happened yet

Wish Infamous 2 could somehow happen before the year is over

360 I think has some good ones coming as well, maybe? Splinter Cell Conviction and Alan Wake are all I can think of

    It doesn't interest me personally

I think Teefs is all over it as well as some others

All I really care about is Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, SCC and Alan Wake. 3D Game Dot Heroes too if it actually lives up to its concept

    it's neither stupid nor mind-blowing

it's a very well-executed multiplayer shooter. particularly tactical and with a focus on realism, but otherwise much like warhawk or the multiplayer end of something like killzone 2.

Demon's Souls is so good, guys. I think it throws a lot of people in that it's not hard in the "you must have amazing twitch reflexes" hardcore gamer sense, but in the "you had damn well better learn how this shit works or it will punish you" sense. The feeling of learning/improving in that way is all to rare to me in gaming.

Also, I like that I *need* to overcome that difficulty curve to keep going. I finally got around to watching Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe pilot last night, and one of his guests (Dara O'Brian) was complaining that games are too hard, and if you can't beat them you miss out on content you'd paid for. I can see how that argument would make sense to utter pussies, if there had been some agreement going in that everything would be immediately accessible. Enough games seem to go along with this that it's refreshing to have one that doesn't offer an easy way to success. Progressing in a game is much more rewarding when you feel you've earned it, rather than cheesing through on very easy one-button mash mode.

I didn't know anything about crystal geckos the first time through.

So I missed out on most of the drops from them and as a result couldn't upgrade my bow properly.

This time through, I knew to make sure I killed the crystal gecko who dropped my Spider stone. So now I'm trying to upgrade my Sticky Compound Bow to like +5 so that when I hit the blue dragon this time, I don't have to bring 300+ arrows.

Nah, I've been running with Purple Flame Shield + Crescent Falchion + Cling Ring/Thief Ring - it doesn't do quite as much damage as some other options, but it's still not inconsiderable. And I get good defenses.
