Man, 19 spells are awesome. 24 is going to be even better. Too bad I broke the bank buying both ranks in one go!
Totally worth it. Fuck Everfrost Peaks.
What are you talking about I love everfrost. My bind point has been outside of perma for 90% of the time since I dinged 29.
If you need spells from up there I can pick em up and deliver, its a bitch of a run.
I know I loved Everfrost with my druid back in the day, I stayed there for almost a year (I died so often that I didn't level much, lol). I know when I came back to EQ on the live servers I went back to Everfrost by myself one day and destroyed everything, even the lich whose name I can't remember (you gotta find a hole in the frozen river and swim all the way upstream into some caves).
I've been checking out different MMOs recently (Vanguard, LOTRO etc.) but somehow I didn't really like any of them. Now, I'm too young to have experienced the classic feel of the original EQ but I've heard a lot about it.
Do you people think I might like this game? I have a bit of experience with EQ as it is today and I know how hard and unforgiving it can be. Besides, after having played "EZ mode" MMOs for the longest time, I'm up for something more... brutal.
I was thinking about making a gnome cleric because that seems like the least used class/race combination ever.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
Try it out and you might surprise yourself. I'm having a blast playing again. Just give it some time before you count it out. It will be a while before you see results. I spent the better part of yesterday playing just reached lvl 6 and was freaking excited when I could afford a set of statless leather armor.
If you want least used race/class combo go for erudite pally. That was the first char I ever created cause I thought I would be the only one running around. It has its fun times but remember it's probably the least used combo for a reason.
The community is still excellent. I made the long run from GFay to qeynos yesterday and was suprised to find a couple people along the way that would actually help me out. That's something I rarely found playing some of the more modern MMO's.
Okay I have a dwarven cleric (Ferrus) in Butcherblock. Is there anywhere I can get some noob tips on how to do stuff? I've been killing skeletons and all and if I remember correctly there is a quest to hand in stuff for exp, right?

Yes, come to Greater Faydark (one zone over) and kill Crushbone orcs once you get high enough level. Take the Crushbone belts found on the centurions and turn them in 4 at a time to Canloe Nusback in Kaladim for xp, a bit of coin, and random tattered leather armor.
Playing a Dwarf? Run and jump to do a tuck and roll. Best part about Dwarves.
So tempted to get in on this, so many fond yet horrible memories. How are mages in the vanilla game? I only really started playing mine seriously at the start of Velious.

Mages on here are ridiculously good, especially to solo with.

I found out I can also turn in bone chips for some armor and exp in Kaladim. What level are those Orcs? I'm currently only lvl 3.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to be online much this week due to exams but I'll try.

I probably won't be on much for a while as I'm staying at my mom's old house till this nasty cold weather goes away (probably a few weeks). She only has a 28.8 max connection at her place =/

Shit, you go to any lengths to recreate the "Classic EQ Experience."

I played for the first year on a 14.4k connection. Then two more on a 56k. And my final year on DSL.
I'm currently lvl 7, mostly do stuff around Crushbone and am faring pretty well so far.
Haven't seen people from the guild online though.

Where has everyone been the past couple of days? The entire time I was online today it was pretty much just me and maybe one or two other people. Looks like burnout is setting in.

I work ten hr night shifts, so you won't see me til Saturday or Sunday. Plus I'm playing 5 other games right now as well (damn you Steam).

Tonight was sushi night for me and Celes, and I have D&D tomorrow. I'll be back in full force on Friday.
I'm not sure who Abbdulah is on the forums, but he and I had a nice time in North Ro this morning with a party posse. A level is the best way to start the day. : )
I'm astonished how little information there is on the internet about CLASSIC EQ. Looks like every site has upgraded to Live standards and erased all the old stuff.
I was wondering: What/How exactly should I train as a cleric? I'm lvl 8 now and put a few points into meditation. Should I try to max it asap or does it increase fast enough on its own?

I don't think you should put points into meditation. You have a chance to gain skill while you are sitting, basically. Doesn't get easier than that.
Training from your GM is actually a relatively minor thing. I know people who have tons of points unused because they just acquire new skills from there and train them in the field. I guess you should try to keep all your magic skills at (your level x 5). Alteration should already be near max since it's your healing skill, but the others still need to be high.

You know if I had the chance to play this on my old AMD K6-2 450MHz on a 14.4k modem for a day I'd so have to do it just because.
I'd be so glad to go back to this machine but the nostalgia factor would be awesome.
The client has been upgraded since 1999, so the software specs went up. It can't run on my old Pentium 233 with 32mb RAM anymore.
Yeah it uses about 500MB of RAM. Which is a lightweight by today's standards but makes it unplayable without at least a gig.
Had to bring ink and paper a few places, then run to one of the human cities and back....
