Just made a Barbarian Shaman, and oh man I forgot how little direction they fucking give you.
I dont know WHAT to fucking do with myself....

Go kill the shit out Polarbear cubs. Turn in all of the Polar Bear Hides that are white but not labeled "Polar Bear Skins" to the chick in the tailoring store inside of Halas. 1 at a time.
When you get to 6ish go kill the fuck out of Gnolls at the BB entrance. Everfrost side is usually open. Dont leave until your at least 9 off of turning in the teeth to the chick in the Warrior pit inside of halas. 1 at a time.
Save 1 Polar Bear Skin to turn into Karg? out on the plains in Everfrost. He is the wandering mob that will stop by the ruins to the east of where you get your DoTs.
Also Allakhazam still has many of the old world quests still in it. You just have to go through all of the other crap as well.
I got in on this noise last night after finding my old EQ Titanium package in the depths of my parents' basement. Made a Barbarian Shaman named Kaydon (My very first EQ character was also a Barbarian Shaman, so it seemed only fitting). Kaydon's now rolling with Exquisite and rock'n'rolling at level 2 or 3. =P
To really get that nostalgia flowing, the vengeful lyricist paid me a visit mid-battle with a white wolf. It really took me back.
I'm considering playing something other than a Barbarian Shaman, though, since it seems like everyone and their dog is making the same thing right now. I could be crazy. Furthermore, I always sucked at Shaman life, but I think that was because I was like twelve when I started.
Now I just need to find the time to play...

Can tell you right now Shaman is a very popular class on this server.
Will not be back on the fat green one for about a week or so due to not being at home. Although I am getting pretty burnt out anyway now, starting to remember why I moved to a pvp server (only made it to 22 the first time round on a pve server so at least I broke my old record).
Will see what I feel like after a week or so break.
I got my monk to level 6 off gnoll teeth and decided it was time to take a break from him. So I made a high elf enchanter, got him to level 5, went to turn in my belts, and that stupid dwarf ate them. Is there some trick to that quest? It's Canloe Nusback(sp) right? The guy in the warrior guild?
I'm going to try and get some EQ in this weekend, but I honestly don't know if it's going to happen. Hehe.
Trying to decide if I want to restart as a Bard... I never really played a Bard back in the good ol' days, so it seems like it could be fun.
Question: Were old world Shaman (as they stand on P1999) typically played with the Root/DoT or Root/Nuke strategies, or did people buff up, DoT, then tank while their pet added DPS? The majority of my Shaman's life was played when I was like 12, so I didn't really grasp how to play the game well, but I remember feeling that he was pretty underpowered.
I got my druid to lvl 9 the other day and I'm very happy with the new spells. I could probably get another level out of Misty Thicket, but I think its time to move on. Where should I head next for some leveling?
From what I remember (from the good old days) you can get your druid basically from 10 - 20 in lavastorm by kiting. Man... I ran along the lavastorm wall sooo many times. But it's such good xp that it's pretty fast. I was often able to kite yellows and reds there successfully.
Uh, what about a lvl 9 cleric? Should I stay in Crushbone or venture into the wide open (and dangerous) world?

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
Hmm really, I only have the one DoT and it's my level 1 spell. What's the best method for low level kiting? Right now my combat has been cast damage shield on self, flame lick on mob, nuke while meleeing until dead (with the added damage of my thorns being key to survival).
edit: I also forget when / where I should be getting binds (once I hit 14 I'll be binding wherever, but in the meantime)
I would always root, sic pet, DoT and by the time the DoT broke the root, the mob was usually around 1/3 - 1/4 health and I'd finish up melee style.
ahhh LOIO I miss thee
edit: ROOT ROT! I remembered the name
Thanks for the input. It sounds like a pretty solid plan of attack. I think my problem with my old Shaman is that I was obsessed with trying to kite everything, so I never built up my Defense skill. Going in for melee was all but useless.
Jubal - I think you mean snare, DoT, run until DoT is off... "nuke is off" just doesn't make much sense. I could be wrong, though.
Krylon - you could, hypothetically just snare, then run just out of range to pull off nukes until the target is dead or the snare wears, in which case you re-snare and repeat. Alternatively, you could snare and root, then just stand there nuking. If the root breaks, the target will only be able to walk to you.
Of course, both options are fairly mana intensive. It'll give you plenty of practice for Meditation, if nothing else. You may want to consider grouping until you get Stinging Swarm so you can kite a little more efficiently.

A popular method for druids to level is quad kiting (several of the druid spells affect up to 4 targets, so snare them, run them in circles until they are together (range of the AOE spell) and burn them down)
Root Rot, snare kiting, and even animal charming all possible means for the druid tho. Just remember that spike (nuke damage) has a chance to break root as well.
Do we have any experienced Brewers? I need to get some Tumpy Tonics for the Trueshot Longbow quest. It appears they were removed from merchants because they were being abused fro experience. The problem is the trivial is 135, and I don't feel like starting another tradeskill yet.
I posted a thread on the project1999 forums, so maybe the GMs will fix it, but I figured knowing who can brew wouldn't hurt.
You can actually get Tumpy Tonics as part of a quest in Kaladim. Tumpy the bartender will make you Tumpy Tonics if you hand him one Kiola Nut (purchased in the OOT from one of the sisters on the island you translocate to) and one Flask of Water.
Alternatively, I have a few on my bard, Torfin, who is currently in GFay. I should be on Monday or Tuesday night, just send me a tell if you want a few.

Check out my video game related articles here and here...with more to come soon!
Yea I was checking to see if the quest was classic when I noticed that. I was able to attempt the Trueshot combine twice, both failures. The shitty part is the planning tool disappeared both times, which costs 10pp.
I'm still not guilded, mostly because I never want to bother anyone to come meet me somewhere. After I move over to Freeport to get binded and start leveling around there I'll see if I can meet up w/ somebody.

How easy is it to find a copy of EQ Titanium these days? I'd love to give this a shot.
I found it extremely difficult.
try ebay though.
