Just reiterating what Arco has said, if you try to do it by taking money at the door, you will be screwed. I think the ONLY way to do something like this is to have everyone paid for before the party even starts. You really don't want to be stuck covering several hundred dollars for other people.
another option if Fire and Ice ends up being too small (which wouldn't shock me, they get fairly packed *without* a group of 50 showing up)
Maggiano's is just down the street, they have a large event room, and they offer family-style dining at a price-per-head. Italian is normally fairly safe as a food choice.

I would be much more interested in something like this...
There will be three of us attending this dinner and we don't really care where it is at. One of us is a native Bostonian, so he said Fire and Ice isn't bad, but had no preference.
There's more than enough interest in Fire & Ice, it will be at Fire & Ice. It let's people satisfy whatever taste they have that night, including vegetarian/vegan/kosher/allergies and they've handled large groups before.
I just spoke with Fire & ice, they can fit us in at 7PM, the barcrawl has a start time of 9PM so this should give everyone time to eat and make it to the starting point. I'm also going to go ahead and make this reservation for 75 and get the registration site up sometime this week as well for the early bird trip planners.
Think about http://www.myspace.com/othersidecafeboston for part of your pub crawl planning... another I'd recommend is Bukowskis... but they're all rather small. This is just a suggestion for those who like craft beers:
Fire and Ice is good, especially if you know what kinds of foods work well together as you basically make your meal.
As one who had attended a monthly gathering at Fire and Ice, I can say that they were, shall we say, difficult enough to deal with at times to cause the group to change locations for their monthly gathering. This is to say nothing of the chefs, they love their jobs. The waiters, however, will very much appreciate the consolidation of payment and this in it's self may avoid the issues that my group had.
As a note to those attending: There are some things that taste good on their own, but not together. Think before you pile everything you can onto your dish, and the chefs only cook what you give them.

I'm in communication with Atlus in regards to destinations, I've run quite a few crawls in Boston
I like Bukowski's quite a bit and Otherside is ok (hanging around vegan hipsters ... bleh), but I think both are a bit too small to accommodate the bar crawl. That's the one issue with Boylston-area bars, most are tough to fit ~50 people into on a Thursday night (that has two Boston sporting events occurring on it)

Alright, due to another large group this night we will be seated at 7:30 and the reservation is for 75, period. I'll put up a reg. site once I talk to the manager about group pricing options.
I'm down for Fire & Ice. I'm still hammering out details for the crawl but I'm shooting for fewer bars than the last one so I'll probably start it around 9pm or so.

Sweet! Soon I can replace the "Register for the 2010 Pre-East PAX Dinner Now! You can't? Try harder!" text in my signature to the actual registration link.
It will be simply brilliant to see you both again.
I still have Lewie's US SIM card phone number. Will he be using that SIM card again?
If I can find it - I've put both our US sims in a very safe place together with $500 in cash somewhere in my bedroom. I currently can't find them or the money!
I'm so looking forward to coming to PAX again, it was amazing last time. I tried to persuade Lewie's daddy to come as well, but he's anything but a geek, and won't It wil be great to meet up again

Wellp. Due to circumstances changing, I won't be taking the train to PAX East. However, that means I'll be able to attend the Pre-PAX Dinner! First time EVAR!

I do not get in until Thursday afternoon and am not sure if i could make it to dinner. I would feel bad taking one of the reserved spots once it is available. What should I do?

The manager is sending me a bunch of info and has to call me back so I should know everything we need by the end of the day.
I get in around noon on Wednesday so I'll definitely be up for this.
