Strange. It kinda reminds me of Birdo, only made of metal, and sporting an axe.

WIPs, will be actual paintings...sometime.

I really like this setup, great narrative and composition. My only nitpick would be that I don't really believe that the guard would get this close without seeing them stick out from behind the corners.

Bacon, the figures are well drawn but there are a lot of perspective problems.

Aumni - At first glance I wanted to say that I'm not in favor of the teal, but that's not really it. The teal itself is fine, but the way you're using it is what's actually bothersome to me. Graphically it's kinda neat, and unexpected. Its just that you're using it as a very flat shadow of the chick's face, but the shadow itself is inaccurate to begin with. It's in no way helping to show the shape, and planes of the face. Its undefined, vague, and inaccurate. I think you would benefit with some references, specifically for the face, and how its lit.

Also that random bar of green behind the figure is noticeably darker on the right side.

really? I dont see anything blatant.

only thing that jumped out to me is that the guys tie is not affected by gravity.. Even if its suppoused to be pinned to his chest that just looks a little awkward and i think lettingit drape will add some more weight/energy or whatever. Im reading the pose as the guy bent at the waist/leaning to the side quite a bit.

another nit pick..The folds need a little love, some areas are neglected where its kinda expected for folds to happen. Like between squatting guys shoulder and elbow..

I needed that, thanks. The teal was actually suppose to be the light, but I think i'll need to work with those values a bit more.

I don't suppose you could be more specific? I can't really do anything productive with that information one way or another if I have no clue what you're referring to; all I can really do is get self-conscious, paranoid and frustrated.

I spent a lot of time working out the perspective...

Thank you for your suggestion Buck, I was studying some references opened up in photoshop next to the image, but I can't make shading work in this context without taking a more 'realistic' approach. But I did learn a few nifty tricks to get cool shadows/fleshtones with the brushes, as well as a better understanding of the chin/nose area.

I decided to simplify it a little bit. Lemme know what you think:

The guy going to beat him over the head looks like a giant in comparison to the guard.

This is some tricky composition bacon, easy to fuck up.

EDIT: I don't think there are any perspective problems with the room but that guard appears to kind of lean off to the right (his left) at an odd angle.
I dunno, it's all a bit beyond me to be honest, but it just doesn't look right. Maybe something to do with where his torch hand is.

I looked at it for a while, and I'm not really seeing serious perspective issues at all. It's a complex multi-point perspective and everything lines up pretty well.

edit: looking back and forth, those aren't standing out to me. I could be wrong though.

Though I'm now noticing stuff like the folds on the guard's uniform looking flat, the pockets being really big and low down, and "the suit's" fingers looking just a bit too long and tapered.

These are art thieves, right Bacon?

Dug the paper I worked my perspective out with out of the trash. Unless my ruler is bent, I'm pretty confident that everything you pointed out goes towards the correct VPs. Except for the top part of the left green line, but that's supposed to be like that because the walls come inwards at the top, a shallower, straighter version of http://photos.igougo.com/images/p196369-Dublin-National_Gallery_of_Ireland.jpg"]this kind of thing

what's your process to determine the vanishing point to begin with?

do you loose sketch it and then find where one would be based on your sketch, then measure all the points out based on that?

In my experience, for whatever its worth, if you really have to look at any piece in particular for longer than a few moments before noticing major errors/inaccuracies, then they're probably negligible overall. At least as far as passing glances are concerned. What I mean is that the general viewer wouldn't think twice about it.

But if you're actively searching for them, and you can't find any after a few passes, then odds are there aren't any. Or at least there aren't any major, or outstanding issues.

That made sense, right?

I will say that in your illustration Kevin that guy does feel a little too large to me as well. But what bothers me more is how far forward he is in the composition.

His arm looks like it would be visible through the doorway because its sticking out. I would have preferred that he were further back along the wall personally. I think it hurts the calm before the storm moment you are aiming for.

I love this composition

The dude whos about to club the security gaurd, i'd make his arm closest to camera a little slimmer, and pull his torso back a little. Just so its more like hes hidden behind the door frame. Thats what i'd do, which don't make it right either :)

I guess there's debatable issues with the positioning of those figures, Bacon, but I also see zero wrong with a perspective that looked like a bitch to set up. Really tight drawing considering you said it's only preliminary.

I hate you Projeck, for being like 4 years old and so far along with your drawing. I'd eat your youthful heart if I wasn't a fellow vegetarian.

I posted the underdrawing for this yesterday -- Wakk gave me a great pointer on color.... which I pitched along with color altogether. I'll work on values instead; I'm terrible at jumping right into color, anyway.

And Squidbunny, that looks like it's coming along really well.
