It is the chesire cat, but i went for a non-blonde alice. I was trying to combine the idea with sort a spirit guide type of thing.
The contest was to redesign the chesire cat.

I'd dump the girl from the shot, or silhouette her further back into the image. Also she's far to well lit for someone who has their main light scource behind them. Most of her should be in deep shadow with some reflected light or a secondary source defining her features. Look at your castle, it's mostly covered in shadow, yet your girl is mysteriously well lit. Also I'm not sold on the sand texture, the light is hitting it from the right, not from the rear, it would've been better without the texture.
Also watch her face, specifically around the chin, as it is now it looks more like a mask.

If i go back to it, i will drop the chick and maybe just do a cool moody piece with the castle. Cheers for the crits.
There are so many fantastic things on this page I don't know where to start.
Start with mine
I'll see if I can offer any crits in a bit.
I seem to have been on a bit of a raccoon binge lately, and one of my new years resolutions was to start drawing from imagination again, so I tried sketching out a possible character design. After a few pages I ended up with this:
Not the best photo, but it's the best I can do. :?
EDIT: I'm not at all happy with the side view. This will need a lot of work.

I am now sick of this and brought it to an impatient close:
though those "spiny" parts look a little superfluous

Really nice work. I would add some "Industrial designer" touches to make it look a little looser.
