-Elite councilor head perms are back, as well as a number of
other permutations for their armor. They've been redesigned from the skeleton up
I mean I'm seriously hoping they didn't make a bunch of permutations for the Elite armor only to use them as enemies in campaign and have them swept sideways for multiplayer. Not that I dislike the idea of playing as a Spartan.
The plasma weapons returning to the original "this isn't only for taking down shields, this can kill you too" really has me excited. Like rat said, I miss killing grunts with a plasma pistol and the H3 one just doesn't work to that effect.

Minotaur!
Also that Reach info is pretty cool. Good to see that they're making every weapon have a role, so hopefully no more BR > All like in Halo 3. I did enjoy how plasma rifles and pistols (both magnum and plasma) were much more useful in ODST, so here's hoping they have more of that in Reach.
I have a question about matchmaking... does it work based on "skill" or is it all connection/gametype? I mean I've had like 4 or 5 games in a row with the majority of the people having over a thousand xp, while I have, uh, 51. What.

In the case of social playlists, you have a hidden rank that the game uses to find opponents.
The way things stand now, if you are a new player, you will have a tendency to be matched against lower ranked players, but the game prioritizes getting you into a game over getting you an optimal game. If the only option is to drop you into a room full of 15 generals.. the game will do it.
Even if you do get into a game with low-ranked players, it doesn't guarantee anything. A huge amount of people are on their second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) account and are much better players than their stats suggest.
There's stretch from about 5pm EST to about 8pm EST where you can get some fair games in.
Outside that range, you run into people that have played thousands of games. During the day, you got the jobless types who play 100 hours of Halo a week, and at night, you got all the generals getting into their steamroll parties and inflicting pain on the masses.
Bunch of my friends did matchmaking last night in a 'halo for haiti' type thing, and they got partied up with a guy who said he didn't change his logo to a heart because he thinks America should be spending money on other things right now.
There's gotta be some kind of cosmic penalty for this level of stupidity. Like a asteroid suddenly veers out of orbit near mars and spirals directly into his house as he's sleeping.
I've got a friend who wouldn't do the Halo for Haiti thing because he says that while he feels for the Haitian people, since that's where his dad is from, he thinks it's ridiculous that a country that was in so much trouble and turmoil before is only getting noticed now because of the earthquake.
I mean I still think it's dumb that he wouldn't play it to help them out since they didn't deserve this, but he certainly raises a point.

What's funny is the actual fraction of money that he would be vicariously donating.
Since Bungie was going to donate $100 for every 1000 people with hearts, that means we're all "donating" a single dime. 10 fucking cents. Shit you could find in the couch, or on the side of the street.
it makes me happy that I donated through local charity. Playing halo for it was cool and all but it definitely amounts to very little individual contribution.
-Assassinations replace the old instant one-hit kill with an animated, thirdperson one. It will also feature in multiplayer. Sage says there's a good chance the old assassinations wont be in anymore, but they'll be using the internal Beta to decide for sure.
This one sounds like it could be a big deal in multiplayer. It's hard to imagine a third person animated assassination being as quick as the current assassinations - which would mean you'd be vulnerable during that time, like during a Gears chainsaw animation.

So, I've redone my latest Minotaur map.
It now has 4 variants to it. The layout is exactly the same, but the placement of the powerups, and all the booby-traps have been rearranged each time.

Not that I want to rain on your parade, Elites are awesome.
Pretty much this
Thanks lookfree
guess I'll just get acclimatized to playing as a Spartan now rather than later.
I wanna try and needle them, see if they'll confirm or deny that the elite will be in Reach multiplayer.

Guess it's just Friday afternoon and there are a lot of people playing.

Like, I have 5000 exp, but if I went into Team Mythic or Throwback I'd play some low levels at first..

That is very much an elite hand holding that gun.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
I'd feel like even more of a jerk if I had actually played Halo on Wednesday or Thursday.

not mentioning the spartan hud, that is the same hand in this one
except more blurry
all of these are campaign shots anyway, they're not showing anything about multiplayer yet
Sangheilinfiltration? That doesn't quite work.
