Assassinations in Reach are still instant. They talked in the podcast about how it was only the flashy ones for a while, but everyone revolted against The Beard and they put the old style ones back in with the fancy ones.
Really though, the actual issue (and finally acknowledged as a bug) was that assassinations overrided the 'Invincible' setting. So all they really need to do is have that bug fixed, or have a proper Race mode.

Yeah, my biggest worry was how it would leave you vulnerable for five minutes if you kept the long assassinations, while people with shorter assassinations wouldn't have to worry about that. Nice to hear they fixed it.
And as far as the "Invincible" bug goes, I still can't believe they missed that in test. At least they'll keep an eye out now for Reach.
Like, we don't have fall damage anymore because people kept killing themselves using the sword lunge. So instead of fixing it they took out the damage.
Then there's the long history of fun using the dismount animations to clip through walls.

Falling damage was dumb anyway. It needed to be gone.
So, if there are still instant assassinations, what's the point in the fancy ones? Except to look flashy of course.
I'm getting better at Halo Wars. Had a guy leave at me like ten minutes in after they brought down a Scarab and I still managed to not only pull ot a win, but with ten times the score of their best guy. (more of you guys need to get in on this, it is suprisingly fun)

I'd still be on it, but I lack patience for the 99% of Halo Wars online population that subscribes to the Zerg model of waging war.

Yeah, I enjoyed Wars. Need to replay it sometime.
Speaking of... Does anyone have a map of New Mombassa with all the audio log locations?
I'm missing one and I've combed that city 3 times now...

Ah, well I almost exclusively play deathmatch which either makes that much worse or astronomically improves it depending on how you want to look at it. I just find deathmatch makes for tighter, faster games with a vastly reduced emphasis on build orders and research in favour of troop usage.

I would have liked to see them put in a staged assault mode. It's a lot of fun in TF2, probably need some tweaking to work for Halo but the concept is a sound one. Shame it never made it out of the early stages of Sandtrap.

Meh, I don't know. Playing CTF on High Ground is enough of an uphill battle, I don't want to imagine a staged assault mode where the defenders have more than a turret, a laser, and a whole wall of BR fire to rain down.
Then again, it's one of those ideas that you can't really critique unless you give it a try, so I can't slam it too hard.
Was giving out free Gold 1 month codes yesterday, it says the promotion is undergoing maintenance so it may come back up? Either way with the big silver letters last page im sure its relevant :P
haha me and will just had a rocket race game where one team had a quitter and the other teams taunted the remaining player, so we helped the only guy win by driving him around
I was actually surprised when I downloaded it the other day. Only took maybe an hour.
I'm pretty sure the oxbox download servers have dwindled in size since the 360's launch. They probably originally had several racks of state of the art machines hosting content, each with a solid gigabit connection to the internet.
4 or 5 years later, everything is out of warranty and dead machines have been rotated out to make room for 360 content servers. There's probably nothing but a lone 2.4ghz machine, built from parts of his dead brothers. Hanging out the back is a crusty old fiber optic cable that winds to a single tray of scsi disks, which used to be a striped-parity'd-mirrored raid 10 set and is now raid 5 with a dead parity drive. The entire rack has a single 100 megabit connection, because all the gigabit connections were moved to new machines.
Whenever it crashes, the on-call expert spends half a day getting it back up, hating every minute of his life.
Not that I am borrowing from my own experiences to fabricate this story or anything.

Maybe rocket race will actually be fun this time around!
Great, more incentive for people to do anything but race like rockets... :?
Oh well, more easy wins for me. ;-)

Yes, even though ODST is super annoying because you can't make clips so I gotta watch the whole damn thing. No rewinding hurts a lot too.
Just let me know at what point in the film to start and how long I should record for.

time to burn one of these 48hours.
I need them for tutorial videos for Firefight Friday. I'll be telling you the exact times in the film I need you to record, so don't worry about it.
Also I just redeemed a 48 hour, I'll be seeing you fuckers tonight.
It is, hold on. I'll delete my FR to the Perfect Dark metatag, I think it died before it even got going.

Also wtf, you can't send text messages via xbox.com while silver. What the hell is the point of that?
To keep spammers from making endless accounts to send advertisements with?

And by fun I mean you should make sure your 360 doesn't turn off when it's idle for 6 hours.
Sounds good.. just let me know when you put them up, I'll probably get to it on Saturday.
I assume default first person camera is okay too?
