Heroes or turned-based strategy games on Mac and PC

Is it possible for someone using the mac version of heroes III or heroes V to play with someone using the PC version? Also, are there any other games like this that you would recommend for this purpose? We tried some Homeworld but mac and PC cannot play together.

    Starcraft totally works that way.

    Not very turn based though.

    Have you tried heroes across PC types?

    Yeah we are tired of Starcraft. What do you mean 'across PC types'?

    We will take a look at this Battle for Wesnoth
