It does annoy me that it's typical of gaming 'culture' that the word used is 'fags'. But that's a whole other thread.

I have lost track of the amount of times I've been called a fag online, especially since the advent of voice chat being mainstream. Something to do with the accent, apparently.

yeah i logged onto a TDM game and a bunch of guys were in a clan together. The first thing they asked me was "do you take it up the ass?" I immediately logged out, not because i was offended or whatever, i just didnt want to listen to those tools the entire match. But in my experience, that happens very very rarely.

Thinking of buying this for PC... I've heard some horror stories about glitchers and hackers, is that prevalent on the PC? Also, I'm considering this game mainly because I heard the customization in multiplayer is ace and such, how's the singleplayer? Overall, would people on the PC recommend it as a fun multiplayer game?

I know the Majority of ppl here play x360, but seriously, I would never play a game like this without my KB+Mouse setup, despite the aimbotters everywhere. Also, I can't give up my resolution for games like this. Game really looks like garbage in comparison on the console IMO (prove me wrong?)

Singleplayer is a nice brainless action movie (don't expect anything deep, but fun as hell) but MP is where the game is at. If you like getting addons/perks/bonuses with an unlocking XP system you will love this game. Lots of fun. Funapalooza.

I don't know man, my monitor runs 1080i and I find it to look pretty great (360 hooked up to monitor right now), and my buddy had his Dell monitor here last night running 1080p and it looked even better. And I don't have to upgrade my 360 once a year. You can keep your KB+M. I'll stick with my loser thumbsticks and the comfort of knowing that when a game comes out that I want, my machine can run it.

EDIT: Plus, IWNet is balls. Also all my friends have it on the 360 as well.

As far as the resolution goes, I have to agree with this guy. I play on the 360 in 1080p on a 42" HD TV, and it looks fantastic. Plus, after a while you really get used to playing on the thumbsticks instead of the KB/M combo.

I don't really know why everyone says the story didn't make sense. It's pretty obvious they're setting up for a trilogy, with the 141 being the "main" storyline, and Soap being the protagonist. Ramirez was just a way to show what was going on at home.

I think it's made a transition from an insult to just a pure expression of anger and hatred. I've played with homoerotic names colored in pink and the only time anyone really called me a fag is when I made them mad, same as when I don't play with homoerotic names colored in pink. I don't think they expect you to feel insulted, they just need their own way of telling you they loathe your existence.

Which would make sense given Activision's business plans. That being said, I don't think many people are going to buy it the next go-round.

in regards to online insults, sure, I've been called 3 letter homophobic words all the time, but some people can come up with some pretty impressive ones. One group referred to me as a "suicidal English teacher" and suggested that I go write poems about killing myself. I had to applaud their creativity, but I was kinda asking for it with my psn name (OvertlyEsoteric).

Aye sir, in an episode titled 'The F Word.'

In the episode, the boys attempt to change the official definition of the word "fag" from an anti-homosexual slur to a term describing loud and obnoxious Harley-Davidson bikers.

The only part that didn't really make sense, for me, was the
    Shepard face-turn

as it wasn't really explained well at all. At first I felt like an idiot for having to ask here and read a wiki to figure out why that happened, but I'm finding its a pretty common reaction.

Beyond that, though, it makes sense. If it was a television drama the 141 line would be the main arc, with Ramirez being the b-plot.

If you've seen The Shield, Ramirez and crew are Dutch and Claudette. They're there, they share the same general world-space, but they're doing their own thing.

The "plot twist", pretty much anything involving Russia is fucked in some capacity, etc.
The airport is probably the best example. There are two other members of the Ultranationalist goon squad that are scripted to die, the security footage in Takedown blatantly shows good old Uncle Vlad shooting people in the face, and let's not forget Russia invading as a result in and of itself. No, Russia in-universe is not a US ally, but it's still a huge leap to assume the first logical response to that massacre is to invade a superpower. If they're smart about this bit they'll retcon in some additional reasons for the invasion, because as it stands it's just phenomenally stupid.

I do agree about the Russian invasion, as in, the situation seemed to escalate far too quickly to really rationalize a full scale invasion. I just assumed the airport level was meant as a "9/11 for Russia" thing. I mean we were all too eager to head into Afghanistan after the towers fell, but it wasn't really a "blow up your capital and execute your civilians" thing, either.

The plot twist did catch me by surprise, as plot twists should, but it validated itself in short order.

"The United States came into our country and killed our beloved Zakaev. Now, continuing their campaign against us (ultranationalists/Russia) they sponsor terrorist attacks on our soil. We will make them pay for their crimes!"

Seemed reasonable enough to me, within the context we're talking about here.

Not to mention that after the events of Modern Warfare the US military has to be feeling some hurt already. 30,000 troops gone in an instant has to be significant enough to weaken them overall.

I get the logic, but part of what I said come back to this: The US military is not some underfunded, starved entity. They're well-trained, well-armed, and mad as fucking hell you decided to drop in and burn DC to the ground. Even a complete lunatic should be given some pause here. Oh, and they have nukes. I'm still very interested to know just how much of a retcon took place with the Ultranationalist numbers.

Given that I tend to avoid multiplayer like the plague - largely because I suck at it independent of the other guy playing fair or not - I was actually looking forward to MW2's single player. Yeah, it was going to be a scripted slugfest against endlessly respawning enemies, but it'd be fun all the same and might actually surprise me here and there.

Then I noticed this a few seconds into No Russian.

So my friend was telling me about how he got into a "totally awesome scrim league" that's "100% pro." All they ever play is hardcore S&D. Nobody is allowed to have any perks or killstreaks. Certain weapon attachments and equipment are banned (I didn't ask him which ones).

I think so, yeah. At least two of the squad aren't flagged as invulnerable and can technically die at any time, though I've never seen them last the whole way. There's probably a scripted death point if they're still alive.

And its weird when I jump into regular matches. It feels funny when I have to blast a full clip of an assault rifle just to kill someone.

I don't play TDM much but got into a game today that was hilariously awesome in Favela.

    Scenario: the barbershop.
I have an cold-blodded anti-air build that consists of claymores, smoke grenades and scavenger pro. A lot of the fighting was focused in the barbershop and around the area. I plant claymores at both entrances and just throw smoke around the area so people can't see them clearly.
Rinse and repeat till I get killstreaks pouring in. Was hilariously that people continuously run in time and again to try to kill me.
