Of course, Modern Warfare 2 only has an AK-47. It makes sense that the Russians would invade with the 47.
except that the russians phased out the 47 in 56 for the AKM then that for the 74 in 1974
Right, but it's a popular weapon in the US so there would be lots ammo and replacement parts. Obviously they didn't put it into the game because it was logical, or anything else for that matter.
The weirdest part about Russia's choice in weapons is that the TAR-21 actually kinda makes sense. Almost nothing else does. I do find it hilarious being chased down by one squad carrying a Vector, UMP, TAR-21, FAL, and for good measure an RPD though.
I just finished unlocking everything for the Aug Hbar and I'm not sure what LMG I want to use next. I'm thinking the M240 but a lot of people say the RPD is worth a try. What are the opinions out there on good LMG's that aren't the Aug Hbar?

This might be nit picking, but I was overall disappointed with the whole invasion of America. Most of it just doesn't make any sense to me at all. Invading from Russia to the United States just spells a total logistical disaster on the Russian's part. The cinematic clearly shows they came in via long range aircraft. Okay, that's plausible for a suicide mission. However, where are they getting all of their supplies from? There is no Naval Vessels with massive amounts of supplies stored of them, and its not like you can go to Walmart to buy 5.45 rounds for your AK47. Then where were they getting that aircraft superiority at during Washington DC? You invade the US where we can refuel our aircraft within hours and have them redeployed. Russia on the other hand would have to get to our bases. Quickly repair any damage from the invasion, bring in ordnance, and all that sexy stuff to even combat our forces. I mean, by the time they move into a base we'd already be all over them. Bleh, I'll cut it short. Overall, I just felt like IW just wanted to "shock" us with a war on the home front.
I do wish they would've did something more on the lines of a suicide run on Washington DC where a modified super carrier or two that was designed for mass unload would've deployed right off Chesapeake Beach. Then the nationalists would attempt a scorched earth policy until they would be destroyed as a last symbol of terrorism. Could've been cool to have a "civilian" perspective where you are just chilling out in rush hour traffic, then the radio goes off about the super carrier and mixed reports about vehicles firing on civilians. Suddenly a tank convoy comes rolling down a nearby intersection and opens fire on all of the cars giving you a sort of "Run for your life!" situation ending with you getting captured and executed by nationalists. I mean, it could've made a lot more sense than Russia gaining land, air, and sea supremacy on an invasion of America.
If it makes you feel any better, the same thing roughly happened in the movie Red Dawn (hence the name of the level is "Wolverines"). IIRC, I read something about that movie in which the writer based the Russian invasion on the US on a report that was done regarding potential military weaknesses in the US. Apparently, because it doesn't make any sense to anticipate such an event, the report showed the US would be relatively unprepared for an aerial/paratrooper invasion in Colorado. Replace Colorado with Washington and you've got MW2! edit: They mention it briefly in the Red Dawn Wikipedia article: "The Soviet attack outlined in the film was a test case for the U.S. Army War College with a certain element of plausibility, given the political climate at the time the movie was released.[5]"
The sheer silliness of the whole scenario is only made better by the presence of both Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Nobody puts Baby in the basement!
On a side note, did anyone else notice they're remaking Red Dawn in 2010? The guy that played Kirk's father in the Star Trek reboot has Patrick Swayze's role. Instead of Russia it's China that's invading, though.
I believe it was a few pages ago in this thread where somebody said play the single player with the idea in mind that IW created really neat maps and then based the story around that. It'll make the single player a little less disappointing.
According to the story, there is less than 48 hours between the airport incident and the United State's counter attack to the Russian invasion. In reality, a military operation of that size would take months and as has already been pointed out, the logistics would be a nightmare. I imagine the person you control at the airport at least looks Russian, and I doubt he is carrying evidence to prove he works for the CIA in his wallet. It would take over 48 hours just to identify him.
So I was trying for a nuke the other night in Ground War and kept running into a problem. On my first class I had an AK-47w/Acog and Hardline, but kept getting 5 kills before dying. Then I switched to my sniper class, the Intervention w/Acog and Stopping Power, but kept getting 6 kills before dying. I then tried removing Stopping Power and adding Hardline, but then I wasn't killing guys in one shot anymore, thus netting me only 2-4 kills before getting spotted. Frustrating!
Finally, I got a lucky streak going on Skidrow and got my Harrier and Chopper Gunner. After all that, my kill count was 22 with Hardline going. I got one more kill before realizing that I had no ammo left. AK empty, RPG empty, no claymores, no blue scavenger bags laying around, and I was on top of a building with no teammates in site. I scanned the ground and saw a gun laying there. When I went to get it, I got bullied to death by a Riot Shield guy who happen to come around the corner. 23-1.

I find myself fanning the right trigger when I miss my first shot sometimes.
Right now I'm just leveling it for the EXP but it's really growing on me. Some maps I still prefer my FAMAS though, mostly because I have all the unlocks for it.
I love the FAL with silencer and holo sight. It's so easy to pick off people without their teammates even realizing it. With the M16 and FAMAS it's pretty easy to spot the bursts of tracers, even with a silencer on. With the FAL it's just *ptoom ptoom* and they're dead before they realize what's happening.
Domination is a fitting title. Especially when I guard C on Wasteland. C4 and DC, and I usually OMA to a class that has cold-blooded and ninja until I hear "Losing C!"
Of course, when the stupid game decides not to announce we're losing C, then it doesn't work out as intended. GG IW, you fucked up. What else is new?
Oh man, I just played my first game against someone using unlimited care packages. Constant barrage of harriers, chopper gunners and cobra's. Luckily it was demolition, so we still won the game, but damn. That shit is C R A Z Y.

As a nigh-constant C4 user I've noticed this as well. If it's any consolation, it only seems to miss the announcement when something else simultaneously needs to be announced. "We've been EMP'd! All electronics and radio communication are down! Wait..."
Oh man, I just played my first game against someone using unlimited care packages. Constant barrage of harriers, chopper gunners and cobra's. Luckily it was demolition, so we still won the game, but damn. That shit is C R A Z Y.
I played a game where someone glitched some infinite EADs. He threw 5 out at once, but unfortunately for them, it was on Quarry, and he threw them behind C. I just happened to have 2 sentry guns I needed to deploy, so I told the team, we wiped out the entire team trying to get packages, and them I set up both my sentry guns. We took 18 packages total, and for the next 5 minutes, there were 2 harriers up, and a good mix of Cobras, Pave Lows, and Apaches. There were no AC-130s, but there was an EMP.
The glitcher left, but we all sent him messages thanking him for the free air support, then promptly filing a complaint on him for cheating.

rust is especially retarded on FFA, i've spawned straight in front of dudes and behind them

I love the map but it's the MW2 equivalent of a killbox.
They could have made flat land and let you go at it with roughly the same results, really.
Also, I've been using the FAMAS and then I unlocked the FAL.
I... I like it a lot more than the FAMAS. Is this normal?
The FAL's a marmite gun. I personally love it, I never found single shot to be a big issue, but then I always play slow and tactically. Also, is it just me or does the FAL have the coolest reload with sleight of hand
I've filed a few complaints about 10th prestige dudes named shit like Marijuana and the people who "just happened" to be able to bring in 6 air drops in a row, but do these complaints do anything ?

Don't know where you live, but you can easily go to a Wal-Mart or an Ace Hardware in Texas or any gun shop and just buy all kinds of ammo. 7.62x39, 5.56x45, .308, etc etc. Saw a few .50 BMG rounds on display once or twice, but they probably weren't for sale.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Yes and no. From what I understand, it takes quite a few complaints before they actually check into it. But if they get enough, and verify, they will give the guy the boot...either temporarily or permanently.
I remember when the Javelin glitch was all the rage, you could get some guys pretty riled up by reminding them that it had been announced bans were being handed out, and that you'd just reported them.
Fuck this might not be a big deal to some of you crazy good players, but for me it's like, amazing.
There's about a minute left in the round. I manage to barely survive a shootout with a guy to get my Predator. I'm trying to run away to find a safe spot to fire it off, when a guy comes from around the corner, misses a knife kill on me. I peg him with some rounds and find a safe corner. Predator gets 2 kills which gets me my Harrier. That gets me 2 kills on the bombing run which gets me to my Pave Low. I launch the Pave Low.
For the next 10-15 seconds my 2 aircraft proceed to alternate killing people to rack up the last 10ish kills we need to win the match. Finish at 28-8 all on the backs of the last 30 seconds of the round. Probably the awesomest thing I've done in this game. Got me Omnicide (kill entire team in 10 seconds) and the PaveLow kill cam thing.
Really seems like a care package shouldn't be capable of dropping a KS reward higher than itself. Am I alone in this?
What would be the point then? You'd just swap the care package out for a UAV, and you'd get it straight away instead of having to call in a helicopter.

Wrong. It's there for me to go 120-30 and call in 2 chopper gunners and a bunch of harriers.

Yeah, the first shot. I hear about the FAIL being a "laser beam" and all that, but I don't care for it. Also, my finger gets tired.
If only they invented some kind of weapon that fires several shots, automatically, if you will, in rapid succession.
