Saren throws you so hard that you break the laws of physics. That is some intense throwing.
Also, I did not expect Tali to put a bullet in a certain someone's head near the ending. Apparently, the bitch is cold.
The cutscene with Saren can play out pretty idiotically. Especially if you were kicking his ass. Which in I think has always been the case in my games.
It never made sense for it to suddenly cut to him grabbing my neck.
Especially if Wrex is in your team at that point. Saren should grab your neck only for the Krogan to realise joyfully that somebody has attempted to engage his team in hand to hand. At that point Saren is crushed under half a tonne of quad-testicled space crocodile in power armour.

That's what should happen.
So many of the characters wouldn't have just stood there and let Saren just choke Shepard. Garrus probably would have head shotted him a couple times, as you said Wrex would probably charge him , and Tali would probably nade him to the moon.
I'm not sure how effective they would be.. but it would definitely be there. me thinks
edit: I could have seen Wrex grabbing Saren's little hoverboard and smashing him in the head with it.
On a related note, any word on when 2's going to be available to pre-order on Steam?
Sometime between now and January 26th?
Steam/Bioware's been pretty quiet about it so far. I'm just doing what I did with Dragon Age and checking it every day until the Jan. 26th date. IIRC, they were silent on DA for Steam as well, and it came out for pre-order like a week or so prior to release.

I am a fan of assault rifles and shooting heavy weapons. Yep, I'll keep my Shepard a Soldier.

It was alright. I was wondering why Soldiers got two class abilities then I remembered they took out weapon classes so they wouldn't work like they used to.
Honestly? Maybe it's because I tend to lean to shooting more than powers. That looked really fun.
I'm starting to seriously reconsider Soldier on the grounds that 3 out of 6 classes get, what, SMGs and Pistols? Even Vanguard and Infiltrator are going to be sticking to their class weapon and pistol.
Running around with all those different guns and a sort of short-cooldown grenade attachment and Bullet Time?
Also, because it's worth repeating, 12-shot magazine Sniper Rifle. :rotate:

So how does it work, every class can use any weapon effectively, aside from assault rifles for Soldier?

I wonder if that might be a heavily modified type of sniper rifle or if they all have more ammo for a soldier?

Looks like my Renegade Shep will be staying a Soldier. I'll have to give the other classes a whirl, but that combat was just too slick-looking to pass up.

Basically, from the context they put it in.
You can you any weapon like you would in your average shooter. However, you can only get bonuses(like damage boosts, etc) in the weapon classes your character is efficient in.
So you can use all weapons, but will mostly end up using weapons you're good with.
But that'll be nice for when I have to brush off the old sniper rifle every now and then with my vanguard.

You don't have to put points into weapon skills, but classes are still limited to specific types of weapons. For instance, a vanguard gets shotguns and pistols. Assault rifles are special because only soldiers can use them whereas every other gun has at least two classes capable of using them.
You can only equip or use weapons your class is trained in - infiltrators can snipe, for example, but adepts cannot.
There's no class specific bonuses (ie, more ammo for soldiers), but obviously a soldier may want to spent more research on weapon boosts than, say, an engineer might (unless you wanted to boost weapons for your squad).
More nuances include that every class can use Heavy Weapons, and it is possible to get "Weapon Training" for Shepard at some point in the game, and presumably only once.

Oh...hmm, first I've heard of this.
Well, I guess the answers my question about ammunition too.

Not true!
Every class gets the Assault Rifle. It's a universal workhorse.

Video disagrees with you, pretty decisively?
Ahaha, that it does, holy shit. Consider me utterly, utterly repudiated.
So weapon skills are all gone but classes are all restricted to which weapons they can use?
Correct. They found that weapon skills in ME1 were pretty boring and they wanted you to be investing your points in "active" abilities rather than just "spend points to shoot better" which naturally everyone is going to max out first thing anyway.

Sounds like it. I like this version - I had all of the weapon types on my Vanguard in ME1, even through I only used the pistol. looked pretty stupid. I could have just sold them, but I was lazy.

Yeah. I know my first few points in Vanguard in ME1 were spend on my pistol/shotgun.
The soldier is our weapon master. He carries more weapons, and better weapons, than any other class. He has access to all three special ammo types, so he can customize his guns to take down any enemy. A properly played soldier outdamages any other class in the game.

That class will definitely work for people who think ME2 is just a shooter. Fucking hell.
edit: That Sniper Rifle? 12 shots instead of 1, and he fired them off so rapidly.

All classes get the SMG, which acts as an AR-lite so you don't have to always rely on pistols.
but man
that Soldier is lookin' good
I suppose that Sniper Variant adds another weapon to the list, too
I thought it looked pretty fun also, considering that ME1 Shepard felt like the black sheep left out of the fun (ability wise)
yup
