In one playthrough period you won't go much past 50, though, which is the point of the post to begin with, what with the level cap thing.
I mean, sure you need a whole playthrough to just get from 59 to 60, but when I said I got to 58 in one playthrough, I meant that it was with a brand new character. I don't know about you, but I might not classify 2 levels away from the cap as 'not much past 50'. But this is a stupid argument, so whatever
Well, pre-ordered the 360 version. I figured I may as well order it since I have ME1 for the 360 too.
Now that i've got all achievements except for the hardcore and insanity i'm starting my to be used in ME2 Shepard. Going vanguard femshep because male shepard is captain monotone.

Do your save games from Mass Effect 1 carry over?
Debating wether to get this for xbox or on Steam

Mass Effect 2 allows the player to import their characters from any completed Mass Effect playthrough. This means that all decisions made by the player in Mass Effect will carry over into Mass Effect 2 and have the potential to impact the story. Decisions confirmed to have an impact on the game include:
* The decision to save either Kaidan or Ashley.[5]
* Whether or not the player kills Wrex on Virmire.[6]
* Whether or not the player decides to save the Citadel Council at the end of Mass Effect.[7]
* The player's choice of love interest.[8]
* Whether the player spares or destroys the Rachni Queen at Peak 15.[9]
* The player's treatment of Conrad Verner.[10]
* Whether or not the player completed the UNC: Asari Diplomacy sidequest.
* Whether the player chose to allow the Alliance to conduct experiments on Nirali Bhatia's body.[11]
Due to massive gameplay redesign, your level will not transfer over to Mass Effect 2 and you will start out with basic abilities.[12][13][14] However, the game will acknowledge if you were a level 60 character and if you were a Renegade or Paragon and adapt it in ways that map across to the new system.[15] Also, the physical appearance and class of imported characters can be changed at the start of the game, if desired.[16][17]
If a player has no Mass Effect save files, Mass Effect 2 will start with an introduction sequence which, in combination with interactive decisions made by the player, introduces new players to the storyline and establishes a “canon” backstory.[18]
There are certain restrictions to transferring save files. Concerning the Xbox 360 version, the main restriction is that the gamer profile, career and related saves must be located on the original device it was first created on. Also, one must use the same profile in which save data from Mass Effect was saved. Specifically for the PC version, players will use the Mass Effect Configuration Tool to select the .MassEffectSave files they wish to import.[19]
Chris Priestly - community coordinator at the Mass Effect Forums - initially said there was a limit of 11 end-of-game saves that could be imported into Mass Effect 2 (i.e. if a player completes the first game 12 times, only completions #1-11 can be imported). However, in a later post he corrected himself and stated that it was no longer the case. [20]
Transfer of a Mass Effect Save file will allow the player to start with more experience, credits, mineral resources and Paragon or Renegade points depending on the previous Shepard's behavior and level. [21]
So, doesn't matter about my vanguard playthrough. Think i'll just see if I can get the hardcore and insanity achievements with my soldier Shephard then.

I'm good with chiptunes. things that just don't sound close are fine, but this is like the uncanny valley for my ears.
I grew up listening to chip tunes and was a total mod tracker fan back in highschool. Listing to faux orcestras doesn't bother me in the slightest. I the demoscene!
So is all this new stuff being yielded to us via Steam? Coz I wants my comic with the follow up to Liara being a badass in my canon Shep's ending with Liara continuing to be a badass.

Eh, it's a pet peeve, stuff that sounds close bu obviously isn't just makes me want to stab my ears out. Sad, because I really like the soundtrack of the first game.
Arhgblar! I was blissfully unaware that the release was so close. Damn this thread for getting me interested!!!
So, since I really don't have the time to play through ME1 again just to remember stuff, is there a transcription of the story line or something? I think I remember all the key decisions I made, who I offed from my party and who I made sweet blueish mind-love to. I will definitely need to brush up on things though.
How long would you say a half-arsed speed run of the game would take?

Just running through then main story? 8-10 hours(which is probably what you meant by half-arsed).
Doing all the sidequest? It take me about 20. But I've played the game 6 times already so I know exactly where to go and I just plow through all the chatter because I know the responses.
I want to listen to the new soundtrack, but i'm stuck in stupid work, and i doubt my boss would be cool with me blasting the soundtrack to a space epic in here. even though it would totally increase productivity.
8 days.........8 long days before I get more Mass Effect. I don't remember the last save I have, I should figure that out.
I hope I still have the save where I did EVERYTHING with that superfan. I really felt like he was setting me up for something. A frame job. He had a pic of me with my gun out (photoshop it) and he had my signature. I always felt like it would have been awesome if that seemingly harmless jackass turned out to be a blackmailing super genius.

It would be nice if you could import from MA1 or just tell MA2 what you wanted to choose from the first game. Too easy I know, but if I have to play through MA1 many, many more times to see all the varients I'm going to go bonkers. Thank good for Youtube.

Wonderful.
Not sold in my country.
It's actually today on amazon.co.uk, I fully intend to buy it when I get home.
There's an address you can write to Dr. Pepper to send away for a free code. Maybe arrange with a US/Canada forumer to do it for you?
Superbulous.
Where is it being sold here in the US? Went to my local 7-11, no dice. Where can I get this thing?
