XBOX360 wired/wireless solution?

LeCausticLeCaustic Registered User regular
I need a way to take care of my internet/live connection to my 360. I have a G-wireless router but it is too far away and always causes connection issues to my 360. Now, I have a cable outlet with cable hooked up to my TV. I need a solution because it's pissing me off.
I looked around and found a possible solution
I have an old laptop
an old modem
and a splicer for cable.
I figured I'd plug setup my laptop on top of my cable box and just wire it to my 360. Would that work or would Comcast reign fire on me? Is there another solution? I tire of the weak signal because I use Media Center/Netflix on top of the other LIVE things and I really need a way of fixing this. I can't use an N/N+ router, either.

How about Connect your Xbox 360 online using your laptop (Simplified for Vista ONLY)? Then there is HOW TO: Cheap Wireless For Your Xbox 360, haven't tried either method (I use just a lan-cable) but lots of people use them.

network cables are like 10 cent/foot on websites like monoprice.com .
depends on how ocd you are about having wires running across your house.

IT's an apartment and the entire wiring would be WAY too inconvenient (running it across an entire room and then through the door and around another room). I'd rather use that as a last resort.

I used my laptop as a bridge using Linux even, and it worked perfectly.

Nice. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
