Fan name? The PS1 was officially labeled PSX by Sony at the beginning.
I love the clone wars. Whats not to love?
The same reason Terminator: The Highschool Years 90210 were terrible. Star Wars isn't a teenage drama.
Not video games related directly, but 360 related:
Swapped from Cable TV to Netflix. Streaming stuff is great but they really need to add more streaming stuff to it. I'm assuming that since NetFlix is on the 360, that the video marketplace is pretty much gone?
Ordered A Serious Man. Hope it gets here.
I'm assuming, at least, that DVD Queue is for stuff they're sending me, Instant is Streaming, and Saved is basically assigning a film without a release date.
The 360's video marketplace is still there, but I have no idea if anything's been added to it lately. Can anyone close to their 360 fire it up and check?

They still do, but the forced Zune interface sucks. So it's not worth the effort to check.
Fan name? The PS1 was officially labeled PSX by Sony at the beginning.
It was never officially called the PSX. PSX was the internal development name. SCEA tried to use PSX as a marketing name, but it was never official. It's a fan name because only non-SONY people still use PSX as an abbreviated moniker for the first PlayStation.
A larger sticking point, however, was PlayStation branding. SCEA hated the name and wanted to change it to PSX, a contraction of the project’s codename. “This was actually a huge internal battle, to the point where there was research done among consumer groups,” says Harrison, who, having seen various youth groups reacting badly to the name PlayStation, had his own fears about it. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, the name is bombing and everyone is going to hate it’. I shared the information with Tokunaka-san, and he said, ‘Oh, that’s nothing, you should have heard what people said about Walkman’. And that pretty much ended the debate.” In Europe, at least: the US nevertheless went ahead with early trade promotion, calling it PSX, and had even come up with its own mascot, Polygon Man.

Which is funny indeed. Nowaways PSX is also used as lingo for all the Playstation systems when talking about them in a general sense. Lot easier than calling each out. PSone PS2 PS3, etc.
I think it stems both from the fact that just saying "Playstation" refers to the overall family of consoles and the fact that the term "Playstation One" came late in the PS's life cycle and just sounded plain odd.
Not to mention that adding X to anything makes it more awesome. "Gunhead" would be awesome, but "Gunhead X" would be so oversaturated with awesome it would make the universe implode upon itself.
I'm intent on running this Gunhead thing into the fucking ground.
The same reason Terminator: The Highschool Years 90210 were terrible. Star Wars isn't a teenage drama.
Huh haven't really got that from the series. Of course I have only watched the movie and the first 15 episodes but so far it seems like a bunch of light sabers and clones making with the pew pew pew. It's all the eye candy of the movies without taking itself so seriously. The art is pretty great as well.

I see no difference or way to tell them apart as far as "awesomeness" goes. Both are centered around a part of Star Wars mythos I'd rather forget.
have you seen either of them? i dunno, maybe it's just the rabid starwars fanboy in me that has me frothing in rage at the idea of anakin skywalker having a buddy-buddy relationship with a teenage prima donna apprentice that was created solely to market to kids and make money. As a show for kids, it's fine, but as an extension of the star wars universe, it's a travesty that would only be exonerated by having a finale that ends with anakin brutally cutting down Ahsoka.
See thats the thing all of Star Wars is horribly written and full of plot holes etc. I can't take any of it seriously and so I enjoy most of it. Don't try to make sense of Ahsoka just revel in that reverse grip she uses so effectively on her lightsaber.

Meh the show is stupid and piggybacks on every horrible thing that Lucas did to the series later, but the core Lego Star Wars gameplay is simple mindless fun, so that is why I would consider buying the lego game based on the cartoon.
In fact I haven't seen one episode from that show.

Basically. Maybe it is because I'm not a big Star Wars fan(I like the series, but meh) I don't really see it with the rose-tinted glasses that others do.

Well I guess that makes you an authority on its quality then.
Not really, but my opinion is pretty much based on the art style and the fact that it follows the plot of about the worst written piece of dreck that ever came out of Lucas' gaping maw. (In that I mean the prequels.)
It may be better than I'm thinking, but I care not to test that thoery out. :P

Yeah I suppose you are not going to be able to get past liking the art style. You either like it or you don't. It seems like most of us can agree that more Lego Star Wars is a good thing though. Though I do think TT is going to have branch out at some point, have they made anything but Lego games?

They made a LEGO version of The Crystal Skull... I'm not buying that, no matter how much general fun the LEGO games are.
As far as LEGO Clone Wars is concerned, I suspect it'll be a combination of both the cartoon series and the CG movie. The cartoon was still pretty much inessential.
The hand-drawn Clone Wars are well worth tracking down on DVD. They're done by Genndy Tartakovsky, the same guy who did Samurai Jack... and they play out pretty much like Star Wars versions of Samurai Jack. Absolutely incredible. General Grevious was introduced in the first set he did, and his battle was so spectacularly awesome it made the actual General Grevious battles in the actual movie lame by comparison.
If you need convincing, here's a clip where Mace Windu is fighting a hojillion combat droids and a gigantic stompy spaceship. Does he surrender when he loses his lightsaber? No, he combines the dual powers of the Force and Samuel Motherfucking Jackson.
So sorry for the logo, it's the best one I could find on short notice.
I haven't watched the new series yet, though I've heard it's decent. A far cry from the awesome stuff Gennedy T. did, but decent.
At any rate, the new TV series is popular enough that I'm sure we'll be seeing more Clone Wars games for some time.

Some highlights from Miyamoto during a speach he gave after receiving the lifetime achievement award.
Last week, we told you guys that Shigeru Miyamoto received the lifetime achievement award at the 13th Annual Japan Media Arts Festival. When Miyamoto took the stage to give his speech, he let loose with a few more details on all sorts of topics.
- Miyamoto said that he's working on a new game that includes MotionPlus support. It was said that this game is separate from Zelda Wii.
- Miyamoto once again stated that Nintendo was working on new hardware, but left the comments at that very basic level.
- Miyamoto discussed the topic of caring for a hamster at one point in his life, which really helped him to come up with the ideas present in Super Mario Galaxy. The free movement of the hamster helped Miyamoto realize the movement of Mario in 3d space.
- Miyamoto believes that other developers could do an online New Super Mario Bros. Wii better than he could.
- Miyamoto's focus on games will be aimed at players that are located next to one another

You're missing out on the very best controlled, polished, and well put together Lego game out there. They took all my complaints and properly addressed every last one of them. That game all but assures me LSWIII will be the best thing ever.
Or not. I'm not buying anything associated with Crystal Skull. Or Clone Wars. It's my form of silent, ineffective protest. Not counting LEGO Rock Band, I've played through four LEGO titles. I liked them, but I'm done with them.
EA has announced that it made a loss during its third quarter ended December 31, 2009 blaming a lack of launches and the decline in boxed product.
GAAP net revenue for the quarter was $1.243 billion compared with $1.654 billion for the prior year. Non-GAAP net revenue for the quarter was $1.346 billion, down 23 per cent as compared with $1.742 billion for the prior year. GAAP net loss for the quarter was $82 million compared with a net loss of $641 million for the prior year.
EA says the decline is due to several factors, including “fewer titles this holiday quarter versus the 2008 holiday quarter, and a weak overall packaged goods sector in Europe.” The firm says sales were driven by the launches of Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, and NBA Live, and catalog sales of FIFA 10, Madden NFL 10, and The Sims 3.
John Riccitiello, Chief Executive Officer, said, “EA is growing share in our packaged goods business and our digital businesses continue to grow rapidly. Mass Effect 2 is the first blockbuster of 2010 and we are looking forward to the launch of Dante's Inferno and Battlefield Bad Company 2."
Looking ahead to 2011, Eric Brown, Chief Financial Officer, added, “We are expecting an increase in FY11 full year non-GAAP earnings per share on the basis of strong cost controls and growth in our digital businesses."
EA's highlights from the financial release report the publisher was number one in packaged goods in North America and Europe and that it reduced operating costs and projects fiscal year 2011 non-GAAP costs down $100 million versus fiscal year 2010.
The firm added that FIFA 10 has sold over 9.7 million copies since launch and EA's online games subscribers totaled 1.9 million in the quarter.

Crap...I'd say I liked them more than the first two new movies...but that isn't saying much.
