Have you had these type of dreams?

I have been playing Dragon Age quite a bit in the past few days, which might have contributed to the strange dream I had (are there normal dreams?), but I have been playing games my whole life and had these type of dreams off and on for the past six years or so.

So it basically goes like this:

I'm horny. Real horny. This doesn't make much sense since I have a healthy sex life with my friend, but maybe it was because I didn't get to see her yesterday when I had this dream... Well I usually find myself in the presence of some very attractive female; sometimes it is a friend I wouldn't normally do these things with, my ex, or someone imaginary. I then proceed to save in my dream. I'm talkin straight up F5 quicksave status. I believe this part comes from my gaming history, so this is why I'm posting this here. After I save I try to seduce my dream target into doing naughty things with me, and if it doesn't work out I simply load that shit again and do it over.

The concept of saving in your dream and being able to load again to try it differently is very interesting I think, but unfortunately my mind hasn't gotten past trying to fuck the brains out of people in these dreams. I'm curious if any of you have had dreams where you can save and load and try again.. but maybe do other things besides sex.

Is it messed up of me to just dream of having sex (not always nice sex...) with people like my friends girl, my ex and not generally the person I am currently with? I believe I had these dreams when I was with my ex a couple years ago and dreamt of doing it with the person I'm with now... but I'm not unsatisfied in my relationship... I don't know.

In short, everyone has wacky dreams. They almost never mean anything.

Haven't you ever watched a sitcom? :P Your subconscious wants to have sex with all kinds of people, and dreams reflect that.

As for the saving and loading, well, I don't recall ever having that particular experience, but I've had pretty heavily game-themed dreams in the past (fucking WoW) and I can see that quicksave action being ingrained in your subconscious. I bet you often save without actively thinking about it, right? That means it's buried deep enough to make it into dreams.

To be fair, having dreams about sex gen'rally means you want to have sex.

    You mean like rape?

Also when I played UO a lot sometimes I had dreams where I had my name over my head and it would turn gray when I committed a crime and I started to run like crazy.

Disgusting? Are dreams something so pure and narrow that there's only one right way to experience them?

Also it's sort of a given that people on PA play a lot of games.

One time I dreamed I could shoot fireballs but I could only make it happen by pretending to click a phantom mouse in my hand.

Sounds like a lucid dream, where you seem to have some control over what happens (respawning to change the outcome).

I remember participating in a Gears of War tournament and my team and I practiced nightly for a good two weeks, then add in all of the time participating in it. I ended up having extremely violent and graphic dreams.

I've had dreams with the Zelda 64 interfaced overlaid on top, and countless zombie dreams. While generally I like to try and connect dreams with stuff going on in my head, sometimes they are really just useless. I once had a dream that we recreated dinosaurs only to discover that the meat was delicious and watched a parking lot of crazed house wives run at a brontosaurus in the distance and proceed to take it down like a pack of lions.

    Pretty useless.

A lucid dream is controlled by the person dreaming, and that person is also aware that he/she is dreaming. This is not the case.

Dont know about this pure and narrow stuff but if your dreams are based like a video game, to the point of saving and loading attempts at sex, its generally a sign to take a break, IMHO.

I'm sure there's a perfectly Freudian explanation for all of this.

video games entering your dreams? bah, that's nothing! I used to play TF (the original, back in the mid 90's) pretty much all day and night. I had my space bar bound to a zoom script. Well, I was having lunch in the park one day, and I saw something happening on the steps of a school across the street, but it was too far away to make out. So I reached for my space bar...

Your ex/friend/whoever you want to sleep with is your mother. Failure is your father. You save and reload to guarantee you succeed, thereby "killing" your father.

I used to love 'choose your own adventure books' when I was a kid

I can think of a few dreams where I've done the same thing.

it doesn't bother me since those are the best kind of dreams.

oh man i had a dream that i died and just rezzed at a spirit healer when i was playing wow a lot.
    don't worry about it man

dreams are your brain's way of sorting through daily events and thoughts, memories or even subconscious thoughts and memories that you aren't aware of.

    It's a dream.

Dreams generally come from things that happened to us recently or things we saw or things we read and then are warped all to shit as our mind tries to incorporate them into a story.

You're horny and you were thinking about your friend. Even if, in your waking mind, these two ideas never cross, they may in your dream.

It really doesn't mean a damn thing.

Once when I was very little I had a dream that Bill Cosby was taking these kids through a tour of some weird lego land/dublo land place and he poisoned a kid with a sandwich that he drank through a straw.

Dreams are bullshit. It is amusing to try to sort out a meaning but sometimes they're just fucking weird.

Dreams can be pretty awesome. I play fighting games a lot (i suck at them though in general which is why I don't post in their threads often) so I have some pretty bitching ass-kicking dreams.

    Just roll with it.

Also, the videogames-breaching-reality thing: I when I played Halo a lot, I used to hear the burnp-burnp-burnp noise you hear when your shield gets blasted away whenever I was worried or panicking.
