Please tell me that hopefully by now they've worked out all the problems and you can update without any real problems.
So what would I expect if I were to update in the very near future?
I remember there being two updates that would happen one after the other a while back. Would it now be
four in a row or are some updates optional? (The two from before and now the weather channel and the Opera browser beta = four updates?)
What were the codes that if they appeared basically meant you had to get your system back to Nintendo for a repair? The most prominent one I remember was something like 110***.
Since I'll be using the NWC USB Connector, I'll probably need to use the latest drivers found somewhere on the main NWC site, right? Anything else I should know if something doesn't quite work?
Unless I'm blind, where's the Wii code thread? Or is it a wiki now?
Am I forgetting anything else?
Thanks.
P.S.
If true, f**k!

I didn't download the browser.
I like spinning the globe.
There's pretty much a 0% chance of you getting a wii that needs to be sent back. Just patch it and watch your Wii glow blue when you get new wiimails.
As far as I know, you will need to download each update seperatly. However, unless you decide to then you don't need to download either the Weather Channel or Internet Channel updates, and the Internet Channel comes from the Wii Ware section of the Shop Channel.
that is what your asking, Right?
Oh, how many updates. There's 2 that I got, and I just got mine today, and then I got the browser, but that's it.
Edit: News is up on the 27th. I hope Pikachu will read it for me.
Also, for some reason, ever since I've gotten the Wii, the Wii name in the WFC registration tool is a garbled mess of symbols. And it keeps happening, no matter how many times I reinstall it. Like, I reinstall, and then the name is correct for maybe a day, and then it goes back to looking like someone played around with a keyboard map.
Now, this was happing long before the browser stopped working, but there's a good chance these two things are related.
As much fun as it would be to do the whole YouTube and "Posting from my Wii!" bit on my TV, I can do both just as well with my computer and so I'm considering to not even bother with the browser at all. I'd just still like to know what my options are.

And thanks for telling me how to get my Wii code.
My system is like 2 months old. I never got it online yet (waiting for DSL), should I have to worry?
no, because if it does happen to brick nintendo will replace it for free

No.
Is your disc scratched? That would do it.

A lot of "cannot connect to the internet" errors, even though it is connected? Happened to me. Quick fix, if you haven't done so yet, is to change your wireless channel from 6 (which is the default) to 1 or 11 (which are as far from default you can get). Appently the poor Wii can't handle any interference. Pansy.
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies
It happens to me all the time...
Wireless interference will fuck with your Wii. To set your wireless to the optimal channel, download NetStumbler. NetStumbler will detect all wireless networks within range, and most importantly tell you what channel they are operating on.
Set your wireless to operate on a channel that is the furthest away from any others operating within range. Take caution using channels 1 through 4, as cordless phones and other wireless devices can cause interference on these lower channels.
It actually works pretty well, but it's so damn slow. I tried watching Dick in a Box on Youtube, and I didn't have the patience to wait 10 minutes for a 2 minutes clip. Then I tried to watch the new Transformers trailer. It didn't even load. I guess it may be because my wireless connection isn't real good, or it may be because it's still a beta version.
Whatever it is, looking at anything more than text is a massive chore, at least where I live.
Can you actually look at the web while playing a game? There's a one channel at a time rule, isn't there? Being able to check out Gamefaqs suring a TP dungeon without shutting it off first would be sweet.

Nah, my WFC reg tool does the exact same thing with the console name and my Wii works fine online.
Change your wireless router to channel 1 or 11. Otherwise the Bluetooth from the wiimote interferes with wifi.
I should point out that none of us have a really solid clue as to what will happen with Opera. It could be that early-adopters get it for free, or it could be we'll have to pay come summer.
Regardless, the full version arrives in spring, so we won't have to pay then to get it.

Also, I updated my Wii on Christmas morning with no problems whatsoever. The "bricking," much like what I gather is the same with 360s, is really a very, very isolated problem that's overblown in the Internet echo chamber.
Well then....

1. Why the hell did the remote leave the house?
2. Most TVs allow you to swtich to video by cycling through ll the channels. So go past the last channel and it should switch to video
3. Go buy a universal remote at Wal-mart or something
No...it's pretty obvious what's going to happen if you read Nintendo's press release about it. The browser is in 'trial version' until March when the full version is released. Then the full version is free until June and everyone will have to pay a one time fee of 500 points to use it after then.
They're not going to give it away to 'early adopters'(aka: everyone with a Wii right now).
Oh, it is? Must have missed that.
A bit of a bummer, but I expected it.
Press Release
"Availability
Nintendo is currently offering a free trial of Opera for Wii which is now available for download. The release of the final version of the Opera browser for Wii is currently scheduled for late March 2007. Opera for Wii will remain a free download until June 30, 2007. After June 30, Opera will be available for download from the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii points. Users who download Opera before June 30, 2007, can continue to use the browser at no cost for the lifetime of the Wii system."
1. Will one of these need to be sacrificed in order to make room for the wifi adapter, or can the adapter take the place of the USB connection between my router and my computer?
2. Is there a chance the wireless connection used by my keyboard and mouse could interfere with the wifi connection if/when I set it up?
3. Is there a special 'official' wii wifi adapter, and if so, does it have any advantages over other wifi adapters? Are there any cheap alternatives?
(I hope that this is considered on topic...)
