I once tried reading a Dune book.

    It wasn't very good.

I think it was the Children of the dune.

Well, see, what happened is the news post went up. Then the comic I linked was the first comic link in the news post, because Tycho was referencing that old one. The actual comic was two links later, but hadn't gone up yet.

I loaded all the links, and one of them went to a comic, so (not recognizing it) that's the one I linked to.

    So, yeah.

To clean this thing at work requires very hot water, and very hot water burns very much, so to protect my hands I wear a pair of el cheapo woolen cold weather gloves covered by disposable vinyl gloves to make the whole thing waterproof.

Occasionally, the vinyl will tear and a rush of scalding water will seep into the glove and hurt like a motherfucker.

Tonight it happened to me and I responded by wincing and shouting "the pain!"

At which point I declared that from now on, the act of cleaning would be referred to as the Gom Jabbar.

    blech Dune.

horrific pacing, uninspired writing and an insufferable Mary-Sue protagonist to boot.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to read Dune for the universe contained within the pages, not because Herbert was good at storytelling.

I think its cos it looks like a blurred photograph, and just doesn't feel in keeping with the character artwork.

Am I the only one who fucking hated the movie? I'm not talking the extended TV cut either, I'm just talking the movie. It was two and a half hours of pretentious melodrama and bad special effects. Gabe described it perfectly.

And I'm someone who ate up all of David Lynch's weirdest shit and came out full and delighted.

My friend has been pushing the books to me like Tycho here. He claims they're way better than the movies, but I don't know whether to trust him. The only thing he complained about the movies was the fact that all the characters were originally brown and they were replaced by whitey (He's a militant black man.) and he's been hit or miss with many things he made me watch or read.

Technically that's not an edit of an actual comic, now is it?

Also, that particular Tycho face is played out as all hell. And you're lazy in the cropping department.

Actually the only confirmed black man was Duncan Idaho, but he was never referred to as black, nor was race an issue with any of the other characters,
