.... sigh..... so weak..... so very weak.
P.S. BoBW is a great watch. Except for all the damn Riker hate. I seriously wanted to punch everyone who was treating him like shit. Especially Shelby.
from a layman's point of view (taking the thread of conversation literally) it sounds like Wolf 359 is the site of some major science vessel annihilation.
confirm or deny?
edit: informed. well, corrected. beaten? still dont know what went down at Wolf 359, which is OK dont bore... erm lore me. spoilers and all, you know.
Goto youtube and search 'best of both worlds'.
That will pretty much sum it up if you are not familiar with Wolf359.

tell me she gets:
1) assimilated
2) oneshot
3) killed by some stupid idea of hers
in some later episode
and yeah, I need to find my First Contact DVD. NOW.
Picard's nightmares make so much more sense, after seeing the last scene of BoBW part 2.
To answer you:
She kind of went poof, no death, nothing, just gone.
Actually it makes no sense because the Picard in the TV show and the movie are two different Picards entirely. For one the TV Picard while not a fan of Borg never showed the rage and hatred the movie Picard did, plus the TV Picard would never have shot a person that was being assimilated or tell his troops to fight blindly on hand to hand. So yeah the movie Picard had his intensity turned up to 11.

I'm guessing his rage was due to having more budget?
You can see some of those features in really old trailers. The Borg Queen episode is visible for a few seconds in one of the older ones, for instance, so some of that stuff isn't really new content, just content that's been locked until now.
Going off of what you can see in the trailer, it looks like the captain they're talking about in the Borg Queen encounter
gets Locutus'd by the Borg.
Edit: Come to think of it, that same trailer shows what's probably a liberated Borg character too. I should go back and re-watch it if I can find it tonight.
If you find it, let us know.
Also, being in a trailer doesn't mean it was finished.

all this spoilertalk... and probably not really contributory to the thread. dont worry we'll probably be all back on track tomorrow around... 1000 Pacific (servers permitting.)
more of how just after dismissing riker and shelby, its like his thought process is interrupted by something, perhaps the borg trying to reestablish connection with him. similar to when they are doing scans on the Phoenix in First Contact and he hears borgtalk, stops cold, and silently says "oshxt." not in keeping with the known facts about the borg as presented in these two episodes, where a compromised, damaged, or defective unit would self destruct, shut down, whatever.
OMG ITS LIKE RETCONNING IN REVERSE
but yeah the rage bit and the "saving a crew member by killing him"... he should know of all people that de-borging was entirely possible. maybe not further down the line (where the borg personal shields dont look like oil-blots on film.) so yeah rage unfounded, except for the explanation to Lily about how hopeless and frustrating the war with the borg has been.
Head start in less than 12 hours! I feel like a kid on Christmas eve! I want to go to bed so I can wake up and have sto waiting for me! I'm excited to join the PA channel and fleet it up with you fine folks!

hm. should I try upsurping the fleet again? i won't be able to play until 7 hours the start so I'm sure someone else will have made it by then. It was quite annoying not being able to edit the bank tab titles, though.
I have a question about STO, Could you beam down to earth in the beta or were you restricted to earth spacedock? I never thought about trying until the beta ended. Would like to beam down to starfleet academy and have a look around.

Found it. It's from an older trailer back around december. Skip to 1 minute in for the good stuff, along with what appears to be an ingame (Unused?) cinematic of Admiral Quinn in his ship, ordering his flagship to attack, along with a short scene with what appears to be about a dozen of emaciated Borg assaulting a barricade.
The actual scene I was talking about is at 1:23. You can see the Borg Queen for a moment, as she's being assembled, then behind her is a Borged, pale-skinned Vulcan looking starfleet science officer. You'll need good timing to see it, though, since there's literally like half a seconds worth of time before the camera switches to the next scene.

Think it was just Spacedock, although I read about how you were supposed to be able to visit Starfleet Academy and HQ. Ah well :?
Someone posted a little image chart of what the various damage types do, anyone have that still?
I have it, but I'm too lazy to host it, so I'll just type it out. Also, you get to hear my comments on them, you lucky devils.
Phaser: Chance to disable random subsystem in space, chance to stun on the ground. It's not terribly useful in space, because the disable is about 3 seconds. If you're more than 5km away from a target, you can forget about landing a torpedo while the shields are disabled.
Disruptor: Chance to debuff damage resistance in space and on the ground. I find this superior to the phaser proc, but not by much. Don't forget that higher-tiered skills give bigger bonuses. Phasers/disruptors/photons/quantums are Commander level, so maxing them out gives a lesser bonus than maxing out, say, Tetryon weapons (which are Cap level).
Plasma: Chance to proc fire DoT in space and on ground. Decent, I guess. The damage is really pretty minor, but I suppose it's more consistent than phasers.
Tetryon: Chance to proc shield damage in space and on ground. Hirogen use these. Hirogen are rape machines. You'd need a full compliment of these beams to have a good shot at a proc, though.
Polaron: Chance to drain power from all 4 systems in space, chance to disable weapons on ground. I don't recall fighting anything with these, but I seem to remember people bitching about them in the zone chat, so they must have something going for them.
Antiproton: Bonus crit damage in space/ground. I haven't encountered this either, but I suppose it's a decent general purpose type.

According to Memory Alpha:
The Dominion use phased polaron beams as their primary weapons. (DS9: "The Jem'Hadar") The ships of the Hierarchy in the Delta Quadrant are also armed with polaron-based weaponry. (VOY: "Renaissance Man")
So do we meet thought guys in STO? I never got past LC5 and the Klingons or Romunlans in OB...

I disagree on Phasers, flying Escort I have at times taken a Battleship enemy from 100 to 0 hull in the 3 seconds the shields were disabled WITHOUT torpedoes.
The three best damage types by far are Polaron, Phaser/Tetryon in that order, but with Phaser and Tetryon being very close to equal.

I fully intend to go 100% Phasers on my Escort.
This wouldn't have anything to do with Phasers being the cheapest to max based on point value would it?
I am leaning towards Phasers for that reason as well.
:P
Edit: I think a new OP for Headstart was mentioned somewhere?

So if I put points into the Cruiser Captain ability, and then into the Cmdr. level equivalent, and then the Captain level one, will I get those bonuses as I use my Admiral level ship?
This has been bugging me and I never got to test it out in beta and I never remember to ask anyone but, can you destroy someone's ship while they are beamed down to a planet? If so, what happens?
