Goddamn Vista, anyway. It may be good in, say, 2 years. But lord, please, keep it away from me until then.
-edit- But if Geo Wars shipped with Vista, in the games folder in an attempt to unlame the pack-in games Windows has always shipped with.. Now that would be hot.

The final version of Vista is so sexy though...
Sometimes, it rocks to be MSDN.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
The real question is whether the inevitable fan patch that makes it work in XP/9x will be considered illegal.
Well, chances are it will not be a standalone release. It will be bought throught he Windows Live Marketplace, DRM'd to your gamertag and your Windows License.
It will not be useable anywhere else.

It may be possible to take the DRM out. It probably is.
But it will not be a simple fan patch. You will probably have to pirate thes oftware to get a scrubbed version... and if its anything like the 360 version, it will want to be online.

On one hand it is pure eye sex and is so much fun any time all the time. On the other it is so bone crushingly hard to rack up a score even half decent in comparison to the leaderboard that it makes me want to cry. I've only ever seen the tiny blue ships once. =(
Any words on pricing? (What does it cost on x360 at the moment?). I'll be pretty happy if a few other of the xbox live titles decide to hit the PC. The more crossover the better.

They didn't mention a price, but it costs $5 on 360.

It will cost 400 microsoftian points (5 bucks), and will be grabbable off of Windows Live Marketplace, alongside Uno and a couple other Live Arcade titles at launch.

Does anyone have the exact quote? I expect them to use GeoWars to sell a service or a brand rather than just trying to make a quick buck.

It wasn't a quote; It was shown during the montage for the Vista Gaming section. Clerly labeled as Geometry Wars for the PC.
They then showed off Live Anywhere on Vista in a demonstration where a windows user with a 360 controller and gamertag, hit the live button while playing uno on their PC to send an invite to a guy play Geo wars on his 360. He recieved, and they joined in, with full Live Video support and evrything.
Live Anywhere looks to be delivering.

Any idea if these games are interchangable between 360 and PC?

No clue.
i would love for live anywhere to be platform agnostic; buy geometry wars, and play it on your 360/laptop/desktop under the one purchase...
... but I wouldn't put much hope in that quite yet. If it does go that way, we will all be the beneficiaries of it, as I would LOVE to play uno with my fellow Arcadians while coding.

I played a game that was supposed to be a clone of Geometry Wars, I think it was called Mono. I'm pretty sure there was a thread here about it. It was a lot of fun, but kinda suffered from keyboard only controls. I'd love to get a chance to play the genuine article. Although, if it does require Vista, I'll probably be able to afford a 360 before I find myself using Vista.
I suck so bad at this game. I've only gotten over 300,000 once. How do you even get up to over a million? Jesus.
I'd imagine that not dying for fifteen minutes would do it. My best is 600,000, but I only got that far once. The score multipliers start coming really fast and last as long as you are alive.
I mentioned this in another thread, but do you guys think this is the start of consolefying the PC? Or PCfying the console?
With Live Anywhere, MS is going to have an invested interest in making 360 and PC gaming platforms cross friendly. Lately I've been noticing the 360 controller really being pushed in ads and media for the PC.
I wonder how PC users will react if all future MS games require a Live Gold subsciption to play online? (no mention of a pricing scheme yet or if they are even going to charge for it).

What I'm more curious about is how pc developers are going to react to having to support live. I would assume it would require extra development time to make their games live compatible.
I don't think it will go over so well with pc gamers if they charge for it. PC gamers have been getting most of these features already for free, although not in one nice package, but still free.
I don't think supporting Live will be a hassle-- it's just an API. Their code does most of the work for the quickmatch, optimatch, ect.
If they try to charge for it, though, hell will be raised. PC gamers will NOT stand to pay 5 bucks a month for something they've been getting for free forever. Period, end of story.
I hope they make Live free for everyone. I would laugh, giggle, and vomit only because I have the flu.
Do they have a release date on Geo Wars PC? I heard rumors of Summer 07. I'm also curious to know if the game will support controllers other than the XBox 360 gamepad.
