My (relatively anti-gaming) wife bought me a DS Lite for Christmas to replace my original model. On a whim this weekend I convinced her to try out some of the wifi minigames and much to my surprise she loved it. As new parents, the ability to engage in a pick-up game or two was fantastic given our time constraints. We've always loved playing board games together but we just don't have that luxury any more.
Can anybody recommend some good "casual" style (ie. pick up and play) games for the DS that offer single-card play between two systems? I should mention that I'm not adverse to picking up a second copy if the multi-card play is exceptional, but would obviously prefer the download-play route.
Thanks!
Edit: I should mention that the games we tried were New Super Mario Bros (she really liked the random element) and Advance Wars (not really her speed).
LewieP: That is a great list. Thank you! There are way more titles out there than I thought.
Herby: Can you describe the multiplayer aspect of Zookeeper? I've never really payed attention to the game, but she likes "cute" things so this could be a contender.
We were definitely disappointed to discover that Rocket Slime only sends a demo.

It's basically just multiplayer Bejeweled, but fun enough that we had a run of playing it every evening. The single player is fun too - has a decent variety of modes, just not up there with stuff like Tetris or Magnetica.
Hehe me and the misses ran through our DS titles this weekend looking for the same things, I gave her my old DS when I nabbed the lite. We messed around and these titles were great:
Meteos
Tetris
Bust a Move
Metroid Pinball
I know Mario Kart does as well, but she isn't into racing. Not sure about Nanostray, wanted to try that.
Metroid Prime Hunters does, she just hates those games. Not sure about Rub Rabbits or Age of Empires, but you might want to check those.
Masume on

I'd have to say Clubhouse is the king of the single cart multiplayers though. The only problem is that would involve letting her play it, which means you may never see your copy again. I bought it for myself Saturday, showed it to my wife and haven't seen it since...
My girlfriend and I have been tackling Big Brain Academy with reckless abandon recently. There's a whole new element when competing against someone, instead of against the clock.
Mario Kart, Tetris DS, Bomberman, New Super Mario Bros, and the little minigames you can play in the Mario titles on the DS are all pretty good pick up and play single cart multiboot.
I imagine Clubhouse Games is good, too, as it has such a large variety. I don't own the game though.
Thanks to everybody for your recommendations. I'll keep an eye out for some of the titles in the discount bins, and will deifnitely be picking up Clubhouse Games, Tetris & Bomberman.

includes demo sendind.
Also, Kirby Squeak Squad comes with three mini games that are multiplayer via download play. They are kinda fun, too.
