Depending on the height of the ceiling he wouldn't be able to hit it with a wrench thus negating any reason to be near the sentry. Even if its a low ceiling, you can't hide behind the sentry so it would be way easier to get killed.

I said level 3. Which implied I was using the pack on the ground method of wall-sentry. And you can hide behind dispensers, you know.
Not that a normal sticky sentry wouldn't be stupid as shit, but then so are sentries in general.
Do sentries currently have a cylindrical targeting range or a spherical range? If they made sticky sentries they ought to make the range spherical.
I like the self-balancing aspect of the fact that if you can't sap it or if it's somewhere hard to hit for demos, you can't reach it to repair or upgrade it either.

I would climb up the side of Hydro and put a teleporter exit on the wall there just for you Goomba.

I'm pretty sure it's spherical, I've seen sentries pin people to the skybox.

Hiding behind dispensers doesn't work, that why any decent engineer tries to hide them behind buildings or in corners. They have less health and as soon as its gone your sentry is good as dead.
He means whether the range is computed with the real 3dimensional distance or based on a cylindrical analogy : range is compared to horizontal distance and does'nt take into account the vertical distance. That would make sentry in very high or low locations OP.
Ho, @Nuzak, the map has been already played maybe a couple of time on HONC, or so says tf2stats. Maybe be someone remember any thing about it
The pre-build sentry range shows that its range is cylindrical, since the wall showing the range of the sentry just shoots straight up. I'm also pretty sure that a sentry's range really is not limited by the height difference between it and the target
They ought to change that then, doesn't really make sense for it to be an infinitely tall cylinder.
I mailed my sticky sentry idea to Robin.
About Persia, I played a few rounds on it as engy. I thought it was a decent layout, needs a fair bit of polishing on the art side though. I'd have to play a lot more rounds on it to get a better idea of the gameplay balance, but the round I did play I was getting constantly harassed by a good spy or two so none of my sentry positions seemed all that strong.
It's spherical. The cylindrical shape you see prior to planting your SG is the default monitoring area, but as long as you're in clear range of the gun, it will rotate and fire (its turning speed isn't that fast though - I don't know if it's faster when you're in the cylindrical/front range of it).

No, any decent engineer knows that being a turtling fuck is a waste of time and just annoying for half of the people on the other team.
And putting a sentry where it can't be repaired doesn't balance it out at all. You guys play engineer completely wrong, no wonder you think he's underpowered.

I don't think anyone has said they think engy is underpowered goomba, please take a chillax pill.
I suggested some drawbacks to give a sticky sentry in my mail to Robin since if it were identical to the regular sentry gun but could stick to walls and ceilings there would be no reason to use the regular SG anymore. I suggested removing knockback, making it unupgradeable, lowering its tracking speed, and maybe something else I can't remember. Now that I think about it you could also make it have shorter range or lower damage.
There should be a button that turns the sticky sentry into a mech suit.
I'm just going to keep saying mech suit until valve puts it in the game.
Mech suit.
That's a horrible idea.
Now, if it had wheels though - I could be compelled to have a miniature Blaster Master in the game. ...as long as the theme was playing while it moved.

Er, yes they have. People go on about how the engineer needs updates to keep up with other classes.
"Poor Engineer" is more because it's the last class to get updated, and the recent additions to soldier and demoman encourage demolition classes to flourish.
I want the class to get updated because I want more toys for one of my favorite classes to make it more interesting, and less turtley.
Who was that guy who suggested 3 throwable mini-sentries with weak ass lazor beams? That idea wasn't too bad.
You've never seen people complaining about the sentry killing power of the DH? You haven't seen the constant suggestions that would make camping in a nest easier?
Sentries are a hard counter to so many classes and they have stupid knockback. Now rockets and stickies are good enough to destroy them and they take away to put up, but that's not really good enough. Sitting around while you wait for your soldiers or demomen to kill it or medics to get an uber isn't really fun. Sentries really don't need knockback. Less knockback would be good but they really don't need any at all.
They're unfun and cause stalemates that people like to complain about on hydro. Whine about as they go engineer.

Rebuild and reformat your computer. My new answer to any TF2 performance issue.

Well yeah, literally 95% of the engi ideas here are absolutely terrible.
Any good engi unlock ideas should reduce the amount of turtling, in much the same way the sniper update brought the sniper closer to the battle to reduce the amount of "I wasn't even engaged with that cock sucking shit face who just killed me in one shot" rage.
See, mech suit/ sentry car could completely suck, but I wouldn't care because the fun factor.
Oh, what's that, my teammates are yelling at me because I'm not accomplishing anything? I don't care, I'm mad pimpin.
Actually - something that might be kinda cool would be where you have your SG as a stationary mechanism (like normal), but after level 3, you hit it some more and it becomes a level 4 SG where it becomes mobile. When this occurs, you immediately control it remotely (ala Redeemer from Unreal Tourney) and it has the following:
Has 800HP (equal to the amount of metal used to make it)
You control its movement while the turret is automated.
Movement speed equal to either a normal Demo or Soldier's speed.
It cannot roll up stairs but can jump.
Its HP constantly drains at 5HP/sec.
It can be repaired, but you yourself are stationary and cannot stop the controls, so another engineer will have to repair it.
If you die during controlling the SG, the SG self-destructs.
When the SG is destroyed (by running out of HP or the controller is killed), it self-destructs, damaging both ally and enemy alike (blast range and damage equal to a regular sticky grenade).
It can't take any objectives (CPs, Intelligence, etc.).
Saps stop the SG in its tracks and work like normal - the engineer still is stationary until the SG is destroyed or he is killed.
But then again... people have said I'm crazy before.
What is this about waiting for your soldiers or demomen to do it?
You already should be playing a soldier or a demoman.
They have so many cool toys now.
And they get dental.
Well scouts, spies, and sniper excel at killing medics, medics heal people, engineers think they're being helpful on offense by building a level three sentry before building an exit, heavies kill everything because they do amazing damage and enemies can't get away, and pyro is useless.

Come on.
Do it.
36 mini laser sentries spread about a map would be hilarious.
It would be like Laser Floyd.

Give Engineers grenades.

"Hello. Are you there?"
Basically a slightly mobile sentry that trades killing power for range and being able to aim it, and doesn't have too much health to be ridiculous.
