    My family passes down initials.

My great grandfather is J.D, for James Delano. My uncle is John David. I have a (dead) brother who was James Daniel, and my new nephew is Jonathan Demetrius.

Also, regardless of middle initial, 80% of my family's first names start with J.

Something like Chet Thompson, I'll bet. Best friend of mine in high school was half-white and looked like he got off the boat from Shanghai a week ago. His name was Dan Murray. Go figure.

    edit: well nevermind, then.

I hate my middle name, plus people always ask if my name is really Marcus for some reason

plus you can't angrily yell the name Mark, it sounds like you're barking

I know a family where the husband, wife and 3 kids all have the initials JMH. Jeff, Jane, James, Jen, John.

A friend of mine growing up had the same name as his father, but no Junior or anything to differentiate. We've always referred to them as "Big Don" and "Little Don" even though the son is now larger physically than the father.

I was named after a guy about 4 generations back in my mother's family named John Joseph. I am Joseph John. I'm fairly sure that John Joseph was named after another, older dude named exactly like me. And the circle of life continues.

EDIT: Another friend of mine - Matthew O'Neil. He's Korean. His (adoptive) parents are the most Irish people ever. I don't think they can be exposed to sunlight.

My name is Mason. I guess my parents were watching TV one night and this cute little retarded boy named Mason was on a commercial. So yeah, I'm named after a cute little retard. Yay!

And I know I've mentioned this in another name thread, but the absolute best name I have ever heard is Hugh Baca. I'm still not sure if it was accidental or not.

Oh and congrats on the new baby!

You guys wanna talk about names coming from family? Lemme tell you.

My mom made up my first name by combining the names of my grandmother (Sherry) and my great grandmother (Lynn). Thus, Sherilyn. My middle name is shared with both of my grandmothers.

Also, no one appreciates a good M*A*S*H reference. :(
