So I was thinking about picking up the first on PS3. Is there any bullshit technical issues to worry about compared to the other versions?

My special edition shipment was delayed due to overblown panic about a snowstorm so I don't have it yet, but UPS is claiming that it is 27 pounds. I know it has a hardcover book and a record, but I don't see how it could possibly weigh that much. Can anyone that recieved the special edition already say if it is really that hefty?

Not even close. Call shenanigans on UPS for sure.

Honestly though? Machine Gun needs toning down, and Grenade Launcher & Crossbow need a buff. Already I can see this. The great thing about the Crossbow in Bioshock 1 was that a headshot with it meant death. It's hard to land a headshot in the multiplayer, and it doesn't award a one-hit kill. This is the sniping weapon for the game, and unless there's an upgrade for it I haven't unlocked yet, I'll just complete its trials and go back to Aero Dash/Shotgun or Winter Blast/Machine Gun.

Actually, the Elephant Gun is the sniping weapon for the game this time around. Crossbow probably got toned down so as not to be a guaranteed out against it.

Huh, if I'd gotten further into the single-player I'd probably know that, considering it's the final gun you unlock via the multiplayer rank system (I think). :P

Does a point ever come along where you actually become powerful? Because I gotta say, I'm feeling incredibly weak and not nearly kickass enough for a Big Daddy. Is there some magical moment where I don't have to constantly mainline medpacks into my bloodstream and waste an entire clip on a splicer?

Actually, it's multiplayer only. :P I was reading about it in the SE art book. They said they went with an elephant gun because big game hunting was popular during that era, and because the gun is effective at mid-long range as opposed to extremely long range, and therefore ideal for sniping in the enclosed environments of Rapture.

You really should be using the Electro Bolt plasmid in close conjunction with the drill. Enemies that have been shocked with Electro Bolt take critical damage when struck with a melee weapon, and seeing as the drill is the best melee weapon you've got, you should take full advantage of this. I just started the last level of the game, and I might have used a gun on five total enemies the entire time.

There are reasons for this that you'll find out.

That, and being as powerful as a big daddy from the first one, it wouldn't be a challenging game--it'd be you walking around, killing everything, no matter what they tried to do to you.

And herein lies the problem, because I'm in England and timezones and blah - so... I'll have to add everyone who sent RyanWangdustry tomorrow. I could explain, but it's complicated. Sorry.

I am looking forward immensely to some epic multiplayer clashes though. Except at Fort Frolic. Fuck that map.

My one caveat is fuck you game designers for making hacking red/green color coded when I'm colorblind

How do you equip tonics? I've picked up 4, but I only seem to have three equipped. There's a black empty circle where the 4th could go, but the only time I seem to get the option to equip one is when I pick up a new one.

So multiplayer is kind of fucked up on the PC version. It doesn't seem to set the resolution properly when i set it to my wide screen, as soon as i joined a game it automatically reverted to some really low, jaggy-filled full screen stretched out res that made the game look like ass. It also took me like 15 minutes to join a single game because it kept not connecting to the host, or people kept constantly leaving the game.

Once i did get into a game, 3 of my team mates immediately left, unbalancing the team 2 to 5, so we lost the game completely right off the bat, which was not fun at all. I just dropped the MP right there. I will try it again later when hopefully more people are playing. At least the single player is fun, and i got a good deal on the game getting both the original and the second for the one price.

Almost done with the game and the following really disappointed me:

    WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS!
The fact that Jack's actions from the first game were almost completely ignored. The only refrences were the two paintings and Lamb saying that Ryan was apparently killed by his own son.

But I like the two or three journals by Fontaine where he explains that he'll be faking his death and that the "prodigal son" AKA Jack should be on this way.

But one section I loved was:
When you play as a little sister and you see the world as she does. That was a total mindfuck, I loved it.

I'd give it a 7.5/8 out of 10. Not sure about multi-player, I'm plowing through single player first.

Wow. I didn't have that much trouble with the multiplayer, but I am having that same resolution problem.

I pray they patch it fast, because I don't want this multiplayer community to die off before I get my precious achievements!

Additionally, the multiplayer is a good bit of fun once you're in a game.

I played the original on PS3 and it worked great. Plus it has challenge rooms if you're into that kind of thing.

The only "technical" issue i think would be that it looks pretty bad on a SDTV. Not really sure why, but the 360 version seemed to look better on a SDTV than the PS3 version. Although, it may have all been in my head.

They both look amazing on a HDTV though.

Now i am wishing i bought it on the 360 so i could sell it to a friend when i was done. 8 hours is a little unacceptable. Too late though, bought it on steam as a pre-purchase.

I mean if the multiplayer wasn't such a bloody mess i wouldn't feel so bad about my purchase. But at the moment it feels like i spent $50 on a game that is worth $20.

The graphics are not improved even slightly, the story is short, and the multiplayer is broken and tacked on. It has glitches in the PC version that are immediately evident, and there is -no way- they could have missed them in testing, they just simply shipped it out anyways, knowing that it was broken. Maybe this is what is so infuriating for me right now.

    Very disappointed in my purchase.

I played through it and beat it after about 15 hours, and the last 2 stages i admit i was sort of rushing through. Before that i was looking for every diary but didnt have to do that much backtracking, just was throurogh.
