Well just to pipe in here and say that I have been part of many public and private D & D groups that have openly gay participants and it's never been a issue. And I live in Calgary... Not known for being the most open place in the world. Sorry you had to through that.

What you're describing sounds so absolutely crazy and backward to me because I haven't heard of that kind of shit happening in real life to anyone I know where I'm from. That's how good it is to live in a place where people are tolerant of each others' differences.

    Expedite that moving plan.

Haven't read past the first post yet but here is my initial response.

Find better players. People you like.

I'm gay, play with a gay-friendly group, and my boyfriend is the freaking GM. (nearly killed my character twice now too, the sexy jerk)

I hate to shill out a site I am associated with but it's relevant. I believe Gaygamer.net has a D&D/Tabletop section to their forums.

There are lots of ignorant ass people out there. yeah it sucks that they can't seem to deal intelligently with your sexual orientation, but you can't let it ruin your life. homosexuality is a hot button, especially in the south because it's so ingrained that it's wrong. if your friends can't see the fact that they are friends with you, even though you are gay as evidence they are being ignorant... well, time to find new friends.

Not to derail, but is Gaybash used to describe verbal abuse now? I always took that as a physical assault. Reading through your post, i was convinced you got stomped at a D&D game. if someone said they "were gaybashed" around me, i'd call the cops!! and wonder where the bruises were...
