So, I have a fuckin audition for my college's production of a show called I Hate Hamlet, which I have never heard of, but will be involved in for delicious, delicious credits, and if I can get a speaking role, it makes my job way fucking easier because then I don't have to actually do any real work like lighting, make-up, etc.
Are there any other AC-TOOOORRES up in this humpty-bumpty? I know there are some opera fellas and some musical theatre enthusiasts.

Well, at least this play I'm going to be in (because I am extraordinarily talented, charming, and charismatic) is a good one. Comedy is kind of hard to do, though.

I did a lot of acting in high school and went on to do local community theater for a few years, and got a couple starring roles and stage managed the kids' plays and was way into it
if I were about 30 pounds thinner, I would probably have seriously pursued it
In all the programs I've been involved with, actors have been required to participate in set-making, painting, or some other design/production aspect. It's a good way to weed out the decent people from the stuck-up scumbags.
Man, speaking of Shakespeare, I was watching that Merchant of Venice movie for like five minutes and it seemed like some poor bastard child of the Kenneth Brannagh Hamlet. Did I totally misjudge it or what?
edit: umaro, it's not that i'm better, as an actor, than the stage-hands and shit. those people are VITAL to running a show.
i'm just startlingly lazy.

Hey, I used to do some acting.
Little community theater thing that became, um, pretty huge after I left.
