Anyone have one of these monsters and has found a nice carrying bag that fits it and gives some protection? (padded, not hardcase).

The laptop measures 16inches by 11.5 inches by about 2 inches deep. I've been told that normal 17" cases will not work and All i can find that specifically mentiones 17.3 inch are sleeves, not cases.

Thanks

If your laptop is the ASUS gamer 17" widescreen, I have it and have just the bag. It's a backpack. I had to get it at best buy, it was like 50 bucks or so. I'm at work but I know it's a targus brand (i'm pretty sure at least). I had the guy at best buy actually unlock the floor model and verify that it fit because i'd been through 3 bags that diddn't work already. I'll try to get the model details once I'm home.

I find this on http://www.amazon.com/Targus-TCG216US-Citygear-Backpack/dp/B001BHQSCK/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1264011025&sr=8-3-fkmr0Amazon . Specifically says 17" widescreen

It's not uncommon for even businessmen to use this kind of backpacks.

The thing is that given your laptop's freakish size it's going to prove rather difficult to find a proper case.

I got mine from Ebags and was very impressed with the price, service and quality of the one I picked out. Would buy from them again if this one ever wears out. They now have a nifty tool that might help out.

edit: click laptop finder, then click "unsure of your model" in the lower right to just plug in the dimensions, and it spits out everything that will fit

Mobile Edge has a messenger bag that will fit 17.3 inch computers. Also, i found a site hat has briefcases and backpacks. You should be able to find a 17.3 laptop case there.

I personally like mobile edge, but if you are looking for something more professional, the link has some good choices.

Thanks for the eBags recommend, travathian. Just ordered one from there for my 18.4" laptop that I pretty much gave up on ever having a bag for. And they ship to Canada too (shipping was kinda expensive, but the bag was reasonable, so it all works out).

I raised the wall. And I will be the one to knock it down.

Your shoulders will thank you for using a backpack. 17 inch laptops are not light.

'course, if you're a weightlifter or just have a good chiropractor then I'm sure you need not worry.

I bought a backpack, but it was for 17 inch laptop, and the 17.3 didnt fit. The aspect ratio is different for them. 17 inch screens are 16:10 and 17.3 are 16:9. But this 17.3 laptop backpack worked. Mobile Edge loves making huge bags.

If you're talking about the G73 series 17.3" laptops, they fit easily into 17" bags from what I've seen. I skipped on a Targus satchel bag for a backpack, but I will agree the satchel will always look more professional. If all else fails, take your laptop to a Bestbuy and test each bag out. The staff will just put a sticker on your laptop so they know you're not walking out with four figures of gaming machine.
