So, there's a fantastic niche MMO out these days by the name of fallen earth. Well, it's more of a classless, mmofps, sandbox, but that's impossible to really identify. Regardless, it's the deepest, most intricate game I've played yet!
The world!
Is absolutely massive. There are no loading times. Everything (with a few storyline exceptions) is open, dungeon-style format.
Oh, it's also totally destroyed. It's littered with debris, scavengable tech, and dozens of warring factions.
No map can convey the real sense of scale, but I'll try. And nothing is empty. Everywhere you go, regardless of quest, there's something to be explored, and lots of vast underground facilities.
This is about a fifth of the first section zoomed out as if from space.
The system!
The FE classless system is similiar to SWG of yore; however, there are no backsies yet, no respecs. Essentially, you get 20 AP per level; some quest grant 1-2 bonus action points. You get these points 20per-level points every 1/10th of the level you achieve; in total, there are about 1000 AP points in the game, with a minimum of 880 at 45.
Establishing that, the fallen earth system is very complex.
There are eight physical stats that require 5 action points to put a point in. Skills require one AP - I'll explain those next.
Essentially, you can build whatever you want by using complementary stats, or using reccomended builds.
Each skill is 75%/25% or 50/50 two stats. Generally, people max out four stats, and four skills or three skills and a mutation. Here's an illustration of how the skills look:
There are three combat ability trees/specs, three defense, and 3 support.
Combat: Melee, Pistol, Rifle. (Melee: 75% Strength, 25% Coordination) (Rifles and Pistols : 75% dexterity, 25% Perception.)
Defense/Buff Self/Tank Debuff: Armor Use(End (50end, 50 coord), Athletics (Coor50/End50} and Dodge(Coord75/Per25)
Support: Social, First Aid, Group Tactics (Charisma, Intelligence, Charisma)
There are also basic mutations. For the first 20 ish levels you don't have to worry about basic mutation. It doesn't take skill points until you acquire mutant abilities in sector 2.
Finally, tradeskills. You are expected to know them all. You acquire xp making things. They make everything; they are the commodity. A crafter with fighting abilities is a lethal scavenger who makes up for lack in support by making people things. The crafting system is like galaxies: to make a gun, you need a stock, an action, and a barrel. All of these require individual components that can be scavenged, and so on. Here is the list.
all of this was done on a level 2 character
WHERE ARE MY PRETTY PICTURES DICK
THERE ARE ALSO A BUNCH OF UNIQUE FACTIONS WITH DIFFERENT STORIES AND SHIT BUT I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE IT THAT FAR
Posts
think I'll play some tonight
it looks interesting but i've beaten fallout 3 already
his is like fallout 3 only it takes you days of harvesting giant chicken dicks to level up your havesting skill to be able to harvest mega chicken dicks
this is important can i pk people
or a tasty sandwich
dye it blue and equip it as a back weapon.
it actually looks quite similar to present day arizona.
there are less people with rifles in this
and the rats are smaller in this
Also rats don't get that big, we have killer ass snakes that keep them down pretty well.
the roads do seem to be in better condition on the game though.
As an inhabitant of Arizona I would resent this comment.
But I look out the window and see nothing but desolate wasteland and I know that I must hold my tongue.
SHH!
Is legend.
aruss chih ken
Looks kind of interesting, but eh
do you have to pay every month for it? because I wouldn't pay money (even if I had it) continuously
uninstalling
But
But that is the fun part of EVE
The whole "space" thing.
my opinion supersedes all those other douche bags
well yes but typically people tout selling points aside from "this video game is fun"
there are big chunks of the map that say "pvp" on them
you will get your horse killed or vehicle blown up
I'm thinking of putting the old nag out to pasture at one
or your wifehorse?
okay uh
unique setting? Loads of quests, very intense crafting system, practically an FPS (there's still some weirdness to it, but they'll fix it over time I'm guessing)
The turd of a horse you get as part of the extended tutorial
thing has to eat a bag of oats every ten feet
hrm, yeah not doing it for me
for example, you say unique, and perhaps sarcastically
i mean, if we got rid of the UI i'd just think it was a mod
also I encountered grandpa harley, and encounters with him are usually.... intense
unique for MMOs, doucher
