Books and articles about the Mexican drug cartel

I had an idea for a book for a while now, and for the first time, I want to actually do some research before sitting down and writing. The setting for the story is the Juarez/El Paso border, as as the title indicates, the Mexican drug cartel is involved.

I lived in both cities, so I have a good layout of the land, but I don't have a lot of information other than what pops up in the news about the going ons in the city. And google and Amazon show there is a shit ton of stuff out there for me to read.

I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping someone can point me into a starting direction.

Start with anything from Al Giordano on the subject. He approaches the entire subject from the angle of the people on "the other side" of the drug war. Eye opening stuff.

La Familia and El Mas Loco, are the most interesting players in the game. Also terrifying.
