For those of us that are close to 50 in the GR7/8+ club: What are we respecing to our first rebirth?
I'm leaning Bows, but will gladly go 1H Swords or Spears if we need more tanks. Being a staff mage is powerful, but I'd like to play a more instant and flashy class for a bit.
Well since I'm getting there (GR6 and 41) I was thinking I'd stay 1H Sword+Shield and throw in some magic for things like dragons where they need another hit to the head to completely fall over. Pure attack characters just can't help with that situation. However I still want to get all passives from the other weapons first. I'll get the passives from staff and holy once I start down elemental.

If you have any intention of getting the max all trees trophy, you probably want to go to two different trees than what you are doing now.

Dragons that are staggered, but not on their side can be hit in the head with air attacks (either aerial attacks or knockdown attacks).
I just spent like 20 minutes with the search tool to find where Esh originally linked that in the thread, haha.
After reincarnation I'll be going nearly the same spec, just actually finishing it out. I'll master divine immediately, pick up Mana Parasite from staff, and then start slogging through elemental.
I want the master every tree trophy, but I'm not sure I'll ever reincarnate without mastering divine magic. You kids need someone to keep your asses alive

Right, same thing for spiders. Repeated aerials will flip them over.
So, interesting little bit of research I just did while grinding in Boot Camp II.
You know those staff skills that "boost your elemental affinity"? Called [element] Seeker? They aren't fucking joking. They aren't fucking joking one bit.
Spell: Fire lance
Targets: Every Polkan and Kibble I could get my hands on (both are weak to fire)
Stats: MAG 126, INT 64
Unbuffed damage: 204-216
Damage with Magic Boost: 240-262
Damage with Fire Seeker: 330-360
Damage with Fire Seeker and Magic boost: 440-460
So anyone wanting to be an elemental mage, guess what should definitely be on your bar. It's really a shame abilities like that, Magic Boost, etc. can't be cast out of combat, so they wouldn't have to take up space on your bars. Also they last two full minutes, much longer than any other buff in this game that I've seen.
Sort of. If you're grinding, and can move from enemy to enemy quickly, the seeker moves will let you 1-shot enemies easily, and possibly even use a lesser spell to do so. Their long duration is what really impressed me. Two minutes is an eternity in this game.
I'll be on, grinding boot camp II, all morning if anyone needs a healer.
Today is level grinding day! Hooraaablaaaaaaaaaah. I need to get closer to 50 (currently 46). Maybe I'll get two levels today, then finish off two more levels tomorrow. Does anyone know the best GR8 quest to do this on? I'm thinking Best Served Cold II because of how big the desert it, although I've got to watch out for those fucking golems because it's impossible to solo them now.

You could... bring me along. Then we could kill golems to our heart's content.
Unfortunately I don't have the magic to instant-kill the enemies in the desert yet.
I haven't been grinding for the last hour because I've been downloading like 20 hours of radio shows to listen to when I do eventually get around to grinding.

I was thinking Big Red II as well, minus the Big Red part. The enemies give more exp than Boot Camp II and aren't spaced that far apart.
Enemies in Caravan II give more exp, but there's too much running and not enough mobs.

If you want to come along, you're more than welcome to.
Right now, though, I'm going to catch up on the television I missed last night. I've got Jon Stewart and Jack Bauer to watch! I'll be on in about an hour and a half or two hours.

Had my Exalted group over last night, so I got zero gameplay in. I fubar'd on my points spending earlier in my levels and I'll only have one tree max'd out by 50, but if I do reincarnate 4 times, this won't be a problem because my next build will be 2H axe/sword (2 trees), then staff/elemental (2 trees, 2nd respec), then sword/spear (2 trees, 3rd respec) and finally divine (final tree, 4th respec) with points in staff, elemental and whatever else to fill out my skills entirely for a nice caster build with some defense.
well, sounds like I should try and hook up with gilder and run some quests. though i'll probably just finish the SP and then start trogging though NG+ till i get to baccea or whatever.
i know i never play with any of you, but once i rebirth, i'll be going spear -> divine.
I won't be able to play tonight probably, got to go to birthing class with the wife.

Don't forget to look at the opportunity cost for buffs/debuffs. If you have high MAG, it's less of a big deal, since your buffs actually last for a long time, but if you don't, you may just be served making a stronger basic attack.
For me, regular Armor Break (the 4MP version) doesn't seem that worth it (depending on how many phys attackers we brought), but Armor Buster (the 8PM, 1AC version) is, provided I'm willing to give up the AP. War Cry (2H axe version of Demon's Aura which you may be more familiar with) is worth it provided I'm able to keep attacking. If I get knocked down during the duration, I only get three attacks off instead of four, which is break-even instead of gain.

It looks like everyone is going tank once they rebirth. :P
I already tank with the 1H, but I want to be a better one so I'm going with spear on my rebirth. I'm not sure if I'll grab Divine Magic, though, save for the one point in Heal. I think I'll master the spear tree, and then get the passives for Bow, Sword, Longsword, and 2H Axe. Perhaps I'll grab more Divine Magic skills once I rebirth a second time.
Anyway, I'm going to hop online to do some level grinding (GR8, level 46). If anyone wants to join me MAEK POAST.

i could go bow/elem :P or paladin. who knows, depends on who i'm playing with at the time.
but lets not kid ourselves, i probably got a few weeks before i need to worry about it. i was also thinking about going with some red magery.
Wanna know what's painful? Being in a group of three Mages and a 1H Sword/Shield user. The 1H S/S uses Daredevil Stance (+Atk, -Def) and refuses to Threaten/Provoke once thinking their leet 70-100 damage a hit is superior to the mages ~500-600 damage a spell that are now getting pummeled for 200 damage a hit and are now healing each other instead of dpsing.
At least when a pug starts that has no tank class in it, you can worth with that. But someone in heavy armor, 1h/shield who refuses to and lets clothies get beat the shit up? Ouch.
The game finally arrived in the mail today, only 12 days late :P
'course now I'm real far behind the lot of ya, especially when you add in the time it's gonna take me to make my character look not retarded; something I'm currently struggling with.
I'm on and questing now if anyone's available! GR 7 stuff. Would I be able to join some of you guys farming Big Red II? Last time I tried to join a quest that was 1 rank higher, I kept getting denied, despite having all of the zones open.

GR 6 and under you seem to be able to join at -1 GR.
GR 7 and above you seem to need the exact GR to join.
1.5million guild rank and growing. I should hit GR9 tomorrow if I keep this up. o_O
At least once I hit GR9 the exp will start flowing better. And then I can concentrate on trying to build a GR9 Weapon + Armor set after I Reincarnate. Oh, and work on my town.

I need about 150,000 left for GR9, and had one reincarnation so far. I wish you could do the -1 thing still, since the ranks take so many points after a while.
Back home, going to grind Big Red II, WHO'S WITH ME?!
Gonna record about an hour of LP footage or so and then I'll be down. I'll try to hop on around 9:30 and maybe play until midnight our time or so. Would be nice to hit GR9 tonight.
I really need some sort of AoE cleave attack with my giant sword. I can't beat the Lost Children quest because the spiders ignore me and just focus on one kid and immediately kill them. I'd try to do it online, but my internet is messed up tonight.

2h sword does have an AoE attack. It's called Void Crash. It's not spectacular, but it is an AoE.
Hopping on now. I'll find anyone on my list who's on and join up, or, more likely, not be able to and just grind Boot Camp II until I rebirth. I'm pretty close.
I can't express how relieved I was after the cost of upgrading to Georama 6 that Georama 7 doesn't triple the damn cost again. Sure, it's almost 200,000, but at least it's not 450,000!
White Knight Chronicles forces you to appreciate the little things.
