About two weeks ago my 360 RRoD'd on me. Fortunately, I was inside my warranty. When I called up support, they had emailed me a shipping label and told me that the cost of shipping wasn't my responsibility. I managed to send the box to them without issue, and they repaired it and shipped it back out.
I've been following the progress of the package. It was supposed to arrive today. When I checked the status an hour ago, it had been updated to "TRAIN DERAILMENT: UNDELIVERABLE".
I called UPS, and they told me that they didn't know the specifics of the situation, but that it was out of their hands. Because Microsoft paid my shipping both ways, I didn't have insurance on the package.
I realize it's a long shot, but is there anything I might be able to do here? Or am I just completely SOL? Microsoft did everything they were supposed to, and I'm gathering this is an 'Act of God' or some such for UPS, so I'm not sure what my chances of replacement are, or what the best course of action would be.

There's an excellent chance someone just hit the wrong button on their DIAD board.
It happens.
Don't freak out about it yet.

It appears that there are several that are in the news. The only ones that make the national news are the ones where it's a passenger train or a train carrying toxic chemicals that end up causing evacuations.
Maybe there's a train derailment, but it has not been reported and UPS does not know about it.
OR
Someone wearing gloves because it's cold out hit "23" instead of "24" in their DIAD.
I could be dead wrong, but chances are..
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies
I'm still not sure if the train derailment actually happened, or someone's finger slipped. The weather were I am is positively horrid right now, though, so I wouldn't put it beyond the realm of possibility.
A call to Microsoft only confused me more - They insist they haven't shipped the console to me yet, even though their own webpage for repair status tells me that it left their service center on Monday. Whether they have it or not, though, they assured me that the shipment was/will be insured, and so any loss will be replaced. Seems like calling them was the right thing to do. Now I can only wait, though.
EDIT: After several calls and several days, I managed to finally get the package delivered. Thanks for the help guys. Calling Microsoft helped a lot, as they were able to communicate with UPS better than I could.
