Wooo! Solo'ed Crawmerax. That's a tense fight. I almost lost it twice when I phase walked near a pillar and got head butted out by a craw maggot. But yeah being able to phase walk back and forth between the two pillars is the only way to do it.
Nice! I finally killed that goosing crawdad solo last night too! Finding a sweet lvl 61 shock SMG in the vending machine on the way there made a lot of difference. Suck it, Craw Maggots!
What did he drop? A slightly better no-scope Pestilent Defiler, two orange repeaters w/ sub-5 ROF, a nice purple SMG that's just a little worse than about 5 others I have, a purple x3 corrosive combat rifle w/ decent stats that doesn't seem to do as much damage as it ought to, and a whole lot of nothing.
And that's with a +2 Rare Item Find mod on.
urahonky, did you end up cooping with the Professor? (Or Professor, did you end up finding folks to coop with?)
Yeah I ran him through Playthrough 1 DLC. Just so he can review it. I hope he gives it a good one. I loved every moment of the DLC honestly.
So how far into Knoxx until anyone starting seeing the new class mods?
My brother and I are 59 and haven't seen anything outside of the Truxican one that the midget in Lockdown Palace drops.
I want an Ogre >.<
They're very rare. You could try the Knoxx glitch or grinding Crawmerax for a better chance at finding them. Though i will say I've found a few of them in the prison.

Most of the new mods are actually kinda farmable (they drop frequently as listed below):
Ogre mods drop off the normal Devastators.
Marine mods drop off the Badass Devastators.
Tuxican mods drop off midgets.
Specter mods drop off Omega Assassins.
The real trick to soloing Craw as a non-Siren is a shield that regens as fast as possible. The only way I can reliably do it on my Hunter is with an Alacritous Rose. The method I use is the nook, pop out of it a bit, he'll wander over, spit once, the Rose keeps me from dying because of its regen, he'll burrow, pop up and show his back.
It isn't 100%, but more times than not I can pull it off and then recoup my monetary losses in that same run.
Yes, it's normal. Sadly, the only New-U station is at that part of the map.
Could someone tell me if you get prizes in Underdome for going so far into it? I just finished the challenge to win five rounds in each place with a friend. We went into another place, in the room that opened after we finished it, and played a couple rounds and died (intentionally) to see if we got any prizes, but got none. Does it take more than a few rounds to get prizes? Or do you just get none? And do you ever get experience for completing the challenges?
You'll get a skill point for the first challenge (one per playthrough), and there are trophies, but you won't get any exp/item rewards - beyond the items that spawn after each wave, which are rarely worth picking up.
Brought my friend who was a 42 Siren and killed Crawmerax. Unfortunately he was close to the edge so 40% of the loot flew off the cliff.
How many levels did your friend get?
Believe it or not: 1. He gained a level when I killed one of the maggots and then got the XP from killing Crawmerax. Those were the only two I had to kill.
The entire time he was up there he was hiding on the side and Crawmerax was determined to murder him so he had his back to me the entire time.

The Underdome is all about challenging your highest level characters, not leveling or getting loot. Plus the bank is nice.
For the mission "Scavenger: Revolver" in the Dahl Headlands, where's the revolver barrel at? I found the other three pieces, but my friend and I looked for 10 minutes or so around the area and can't find the barrel.
EDIT: Scratch that, I just found it. Literally 3 seconds after posting this message.

It WOULD have been nice to get weapon skills, at least. If you're gonna be shooting for 4-5 hours straight, I'd figure hey, maybe I got a liiiiiiiittle better with one of these guns?
Purposely locking that down was just kind of bullshit.
Yeah I can't explain why they chose to not at least give you proficiencies but oh well.
On a lighter note: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Atlas_Omega is now mine! My old shield was ~2300/260 but this one is oh so much better. Bullets hardly even break the shield down and it recharges so fast.

That is purrrty.
Craw cooped 3 times and soloed once, half a dozen legit Knoxx runs, and my first glitched Knoxx run later (so. many. chests.) ALL with +2 Rare Item Find on and still no Pearlescents.
I just downloaded the latest DLC last night, and fell asleep during the download cuz my satellite internet is slow, of course. I have been playing it all day today, really fun. Haha, Shank and Knoxx are hilarious. I can't get enough of this game, I love it. Level 54 Soldier now.
I enjoyed the music in Borderlands enough to buy the soundtrack, so I'm interested to see if the new content has new tunes.
Relatedly, I actually bought the Rosenberg Trio's Seresta to get the song Bossa Dorado because I liked it so much from that guys' Siren soloing Crawmerax video.
Is the soundtrack good? I love BL's music, but I'm not sure the soundtrack would be worth it without Ain't No Rest for the Wicked and No Heaven.

It depends what you're in to. It's a lot of moody slide guitars and pumping tribal music with heavy drums and things. I enjoy it. 'Burning Rubber and Shooting Bullets' probably isn't the safest thing to listen to if you're driving, though. At least, not safe for other people.
So I've been playing this off and on local co-op with a friend. He's playing Hunter and I'm playing Soldier.
We got to Crawmerax last night and had our asses handed to us in seconds. Repeatedly. We probably tried 10 times in total, but we're just failing miserably. We both have elemental weapons but there's just so many enemies and the headbutts from maggots aren't helping any.
What kind of builds should we have for attempting him? We both have decent-ish shields (over 1800+) and I'm using a Support Class mod for ammo regen and magazine size. Should he be using a Health regen one?
Any advice would be appreciated. I should note we're playing it on PS3 so I realize finding a group for this is going to be unlikely. :P
I need to start playing this again, I haven't played since launch. Do many people still play on the PC? Anyone interested in starting some low level characters tonight, or later in the week?
One each hunter and solider is a tough combo for Crawmerax.
You are both level 61 yes? If no, go level up.
I'm no expert, but I would say:
Have your guns queued up:
Corrosive for purple
Burn for green
Shock for stupid flying maggots
High Damage for Craw
Sounds like you have that squared away already.
Since Crawmerax's blast skill reduces your shields and life to pennies regardless of size, I would guess that shield regen is probably more important that shield size.
Again with the guessing, since you can only damage the big crawfish with criticals, be sure your skill build max all critical damage enhancers. Maybe grenade regen for the Soldier to spam transfusion grenades?
I wish I had more to offer you. It's a tough slog no matter what.
I just got this for PC and im cooping with a bunch of friends--around level 14 now. I'm playing a Hunter and I'm wondering if Mordecai's loot skills are worth getting? My Diablo 2 MF instincts are urging me to get it, but I don't know the math behind them so I can't tell if they're worth it.

One of you needs to create a Siren. Problem solved.
If you don't want to do that you can try the following:
Have one character be on the right side and the other be on the left. When Craw gets too close to one of you, have the other shoot him and pull him towards the character farthest from him. This should keep the insta-kills from him to a minimum. Use the pillars to hide from Craw's spit attack. Don't think of the extra enemies as anything other than free second winds. When you are about to go down, make sure you know what is around you and that you have the appropriate weapon out. If you have the right weapon, then the adds should drop really fast, letting you stand back up and hopefully no where near Craw because your buddy should have pulled him by then.
It will take some time to get that strat adapted to your classes, but it should work.

Swipe is somewhat useful early on to boost cash (which ceases to be a problem in later levels) and esp. to stay in ammo and medkits. I don't know that I would get it unless I was working my way down to Aerial Impact and Bird of Prey (which are terrific).
Ransack is not as good as it seems because in co-op your kills will often be 'stolen' by other players. It might be worth dropping a point in if you have an otherwise useful mod that is giving it a +X. Otherwise, in playthrough one certainly, there are far better uses for those points.
Thanks for the advice. I was just curious if we shouldn't have some different class mods, or a different build, like maybe as a soldier, I should focus more on something like a bigger health pool and cauterize for my teammate instead of the 70% chance to insta-rez with the turret. Maybe even taking the shield regen for the turret, since that skill hasn't see any use at all but seems like it'd be something almost mandatory in this fight.
Does it matter what weapon I use on Crawmerax? I have a very sweet combat rifle that does 4xExplosive with decent bullet damage. My maggot killers are elemental shotties with auto-fire and decent fire rate.

Yeah the underdome's music is awesome, and the end music for Knoxx sounds exactly like Diablo 2's Expansion music... Baal's Throne.
the actual act of going to Knoxx, does not give EXP. the mobs do give exp though. and a lot of it.

Have you tried equipping it? Supposedly the red text means you have a higher bullet resistance. Good if you're fighting Knoxx.
