I'm thinking Guy is going to be very low tier. That jump of his is baaaaaaad in this game.

Honestly, he doesn't have to rely on his jump for mobility, he's got both a command jump and command run. I doubt I'll be jumping much except to start crossups on wakeup.

Agreed. Chun Li has one of the worst jumps in the game IMO (incredibly floaty) and everyone seems to think she'll be the next "Balrog" for charge characters in Super. I think Chun is 3rd for most air-time when it comes to jumping... Dhalsim obviously being first and I think C.Viper (even non-SJ'ing) has more air time.

(EDIT) nope chun's jump is worse than c.vipers (non SJ). She's in the air 1 frame longer than Bison, who also has a pretty bad jump.

Maybe but he doesn't seem to have a lot of tools to get around plasma spam. I recall him having issue with that in the Alpha days as well.

    We shall see i suppose.

to be fair, the guys who can spam fireballs (ryu, sagat's, guile's) are generally the guys you DON'T want to jump at anyway.

I have a terrible feeling Guy isn't going to be that great.

    I hope this isn't true :(

best to be coming to terms with it now

i just wanted so much for fei to be pimp - i was diggin on him so hard in HDRemix

I don't understand why Fei is considered bottom tier anymore. I hated him at first since his chicken wing and rekkas felt so different but I think he should be solid mid tier.

    Solid SRK type move
Combo off of chicken wing. EX Chicken wing goes through fireballs on reaction.
Rekkas are solid though not as safe as HDR.
Solid pokes and normals, (weak sweep though)
Good air moves including a cross up.
EX tenshin setups that actually work
    Awesome overhead
    Really good focus

His FADC combos kind of suck but that's really it.

    @ablank and Valiant:

He has two if not three methods around plasma spam, command leap, command slide early, and shoulder block.

By comparison, Cody has about three as well, but only one is a 100% counter. He can trade/stop fireballs with Bad Stone and Criminal Upper, and his Zonk Knuckle if timed correctly will go under a fireball. All of Guy's options completely bypass the fireball, get some and damage AND knockdown. Not too shabby imo.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

So what does everyone think the odds are that they'll give Makoto sub-1000 health just because she's female?(despite the face she'll play very different from any other female character)

With the new characters, I'll of course give them all a try but I'm thinking I'll be giving some time to DeeJay, Dudley, and Adon. Possibly Makoto, Cody, or T. Hawk.

She had the same amount of health as Ryu/Ken in 3S.

Also, I wouldn't expect her damage output to be as good in SSFIV as it was in 3S. The slower pace of SFIV means that her dash won't give her nearly the advantage it did in 3S, and SFIV's stricter juggle properties and single super bar mean that we won't see any 100% combos out of her.

Some reports on mechanics of Cross Counter in SSF4:
Cross Counter only works against mid and high attacks. It doesn't follow Focus properties like Gouken's Parry. Reversals don't beat it. Multi hits don't beat it. Dudley takes damage from it, but it is a very small smount.

An amusing glitch I noticed is if you have a sliver of health left and you do the Cross Counter; you will get KO'd from the damage, then do the Cross Counter, then drop to the floor.
And EX Cross Counter is awesome.

I just had an amazing win against a Fuerte. He had gotten a life lead and kept running away. I managed to catch him and get back in the lead and then time ran out in the middle of a throw he was doing on me. He would probably have won if there had been just one more second left on the clock.

So, here's something odd I noticed. On the Keno podcast he says Balrogs new ultra does shit damage, but 700 stun.

Don't all ultras cause zero stun? For balance reasons, if you could combo into an ultra that also did stun I can only imagine how much more powerful Sagat would have been.

Another Keno troll, or a deliberate redesign?

It's possible. We've seen that Boxer's new ultra does shit for damage, and since its a grab you wont see anybody comboing into it. I don't put a whole lot of faith into Keno's recent statements, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one was true.

I assume some Ultras will cause stun in this version. Otherwise Gouken's second Ultra looks to be worthless (It's Ryu's 3rd SA from SFIII in case anyone's forgotten).

If it's unblockable at full charge, then it will likely cause zero stun. However, if it can in fact be blocked, then it better cause stun, because it's godawful as is.

I had heard it was blockable. Don't remember whether they were talking about full charge or not. Was Ryu's unblockable at less than full charge? If not, I assume that they were talking about full charge with Gouken.

Yes, Ryu's was unblockable at any charge. But that was in a game where you could avoid damage from multiple hit moves and projectiles by parrying. Since we don't have anything like that in SFIV I highly doubt that Gouken's Denjin Hadoken will be unblockable, even at full charge.
