Collateral - I just love the scene in the alley where Jamie is handcuffed to the wheel of his cab while Cruise is upstairs, and Jamie starts yelling and honking the horn trying to get the attention of someone on the busy street not to far away. A bunch of guys come up, point a gun at his face, steal Cruise's briefcase, start walking off....and then Cruise just comes out of nowhere:

[spoiler:19902cbaaa]"Yo, homie. Is that my briefcase?"

Punk points a gun at Cruise, comes up and steals his wallet or something, and then as they're walking away Cruise yells something pulls out his gun and just fucking blows em away -- two shots to the sternum and one to the head. The fact that it was so close to a busy street, and just came out of nowhere, and how powerful the gunshots were in the theater...I loved that scene! :)[/spoiler:19902cbaaa]

    Also:

Batman Begins - When Scarecrow gets gassed by his own shit, and Batman's face starts getting all demonic and starts melting and oozing black stuff. That was pretty wicked. I can't even believe Batman and Robin is from the same franchise.

I don't mean tied together directly, franchise wasn't the right word I guess, I just mean that it's surprising how wildly different the two takes on the same character can be. How one could get it so terribly wrong, and the other so deliciously right :).

Yeah...the new franchise is so sexy I can barely stand when I think about it.

Alternative reply was, "There wasn't anything before Begins. If there had been more Batman movies, why would they call it 'Begins?'" Denial ftw.

From Batman Begins is another line I love:

Flass: I don't know! I swear to God!
    Batman: SWEAR TO ME.

I hope TDK has more angry moments like this, because that's when Bale really shines in the suit IMHO.

    The Truman Show
Truman's utter despair when his boat hits the wall, and then his complete victory when he exits stage left after his signature line.
This is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, and this scene is part of the reason why.

There are a couple other scenes that are, although not as spectacular in the context of things, very reaffirming and emotionally-wrenching. Just little things, like the glimpses of the control room as he begins wresting himself from their grasp.

Will Munny: You boys better move away.

Haha, I was so relieved upon going home at Christmas to discover that all my family and friends found Love Actually to be one painfully stinking bowl of crap.

Mirrormask - when she goes to talk to the floating giants. It's beautiful.

Yeah, wow. He hears it and his ears perk up, then hears it again and freaks out. Totoro is kinda scary when he roars, as his mouth could probably consume a full-grown man on a bicycle.

    Movie is adorable.

Speaking of Miyazaki movies intended for children, Kiki's Delivery Service is probably my favorite. I like the scene in the bakery where Kiki's minding the store and complaining about the place being so boring and how if they don't get more deliveries soon she'll have to resort to eating pancakes "and get fat, fat, FAT!"

And that, I think, was the handle — that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting — on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. . . .

So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark — that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
