I just watched it again the other night, and it really is an excellent movie. The fight scenes were revolutionary, the sets, the camera angles, just the feelings it gave you. Remember that scene where Neo walks out of that building, into the Matrix after he's been freed? And that look on his face? And the audience feels the exact same way; everything is different now. Just brilliantly done, still one of my favorite movies of all time.[/quote]
The first Matrix really was an amazing movie.
It's sad that it's been tarnished by shitty sequels, crappy knockoffs, bad marketing tie-ins, and stupid preteens the world over who all set their forum names to Neo43756786[N+1].

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
The final scene in Batman Begins when Gordon hands Batman the evidence.
"Take this guy, has a taste for the theatrical, like yourself, and leaves a calling card..."
I love that movie, I just watched it again last night. I love the part when
[spoiler:b9a736f5a4]Raz al ghul (sp?) knows he's lost, and just closes his eyes right before the train crashes.[/spoiler:b9a736f5a4]
He could have been centering himself to prepare a ninja-like escape. [spoiler:b9a736f5a4]In the comics Ra's Al Ghul ("the Demon's Head in Arabic) is immortal.[/spoiler:b9a736f5a4]
I hope they don't bring magic and aliens into the movie series though. Same goes for Spider-man.
It's debatable whether or not this is the most powerful sequence in the film - I would also argue for Moses' dream, the emotionally powerful opening sequence, the death of the first born, and the parting of the Red Sea. But The Plagues is still my favourite, and is just awe-inspiring to watch with 5.1 sound.

...and I thought of how all those people died, and what a good death that is. That nobody can blame you for it, because everyone else died along with you, and it is the fault of none, save those who did the killing.
Don't know if it's been mentioned, but I just saw Memento last night and the scene where Natalie [spoiler:34ec6aefb2]basically admits she hates him and thinks he's a freak[/spoiler:34ec6aefb2] and Lenny's subsequent search for a pen was tense as fuck. Heck, the whole movie was incredible.

The scene in Batman Begins, right after Falcone gets taken down and Gordon's men find him at the docks.
Which, of course, is the immediate cut to the top of an ornate building towering over Gotham. The camera pans around the top, and we see Batman standing over the edge, looking like part of the stonework, set against the city and the night air.
I think that was when I first realized just how thoroughly the movie nailed Batman. I mean, goddamnit, THAT IS BATMAN.

I don't wanna kill anybody. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.
After finally seeing Pan's Labyrinth, I'm gonna have to add

Late to the party so sorry if these have been mentionned.
Terminator 2:
[spoiler:332a526c2c]When Sarah rounds the corner in the Asylum just as the elevator doors open revealing the T-800. This woman, who had been a kick-ass momma up to this point simply collapses on floor, desperately shuffling to get away screaming "no, NO! He'll kill us all! He'll kill us all!"[/spoiler:332a526c2c]
Also, I know LOTR has been mentionned but in ROTK, my favorite scene is:
[spoiler:332a526c2c]They're almost at the mouth of Mount Doom, close to the end, Frodo collapses, completely and utterly exhausted. Sam the says (in reference to the Ring) "I can't carry it for you, but I CAN CARRY YOU!" and he picks Frodo up and carries him to the mouth. I've seen that scene a hojillion times and it tears me up every time[/spoiler:332a526c2c]

Also the book Catch-22 does the comedy<->tragedy thing, just like future-rama over and over again...

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
"Wait a minute, that's part of your trick, isn't it?"
"No Michael, that's not my trick."
On the next episode of Arrested Development
"It's my Illusion!
"OH GOD MY HAIR!"
"Throw him in the pool!"
"WHY AREN'T I GOING UNDER WATER?!"

Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
Awesome scene.
Also, Royal Tenenbaums when Richie shaves his beard and attempts suicide.
If I hide myself wherever I go
Am I ever really there?
The music totally makes that scene.
Also, the very beginning of Apocalypse Now: Martin Sheen's powerful narration+The Doors for massive damage.
The second dream sequence with "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" playing is one of the greatest things I have ever seen.
That scene was gold, especialy Saddam handing out bowling shoes.
the sequence: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_rapq3EN5As

Picard: "I saw... five lights."
I also loved the "lighting of the beacons" scene in Peter Jackson's LotR series.
What's your question?
The hallway fight from Oldboy including the hammer is a close second .

But Honerable mention goes to:
The Matrix: Lobby fight
Purely for its use in testing my 5.1 Home Cinema System
*Me shouting over the music/explosions* "Can you hear that?! You can hear the shell casings 'TINK' as they hit the floor!"
*well meaning, but ultimately un-impressed girlfriend* "Thats great sweety, can we turn it down a bit?"
And the scene.
[spoiler:e21b2139a8]Today will be the day you will remember as being the day you almost *splash!*[/spoiler:e21b2139a8]
Also, a whole lot of the movie Collateral.
"Don't get me stuck in a corner, you don't have enough bootspace."
And of course, Hey Homie, is that my briefcase?
I enjoyed the opening scene of the first movie more. Was just so dramatic and then....it turns out he was pretty lame. xD

The second one was enjoyable to just for the shear Monkey Islandness of it.
