are you also getting like 1-2 seconds of slow-motion when you first bring up the sniper's scope? becaus I am and it is pretty friggin great
I don't know why we're spoilering, but if you look at the infiltrator skill bonus you'll notice that sniper scope time dilation is one of your bonuses.
we're spoilering because this is a super secret club that is exclusive and whatnot, you silly goose.
also, i dunno how i missed it in the description

Okay, I do have one gameplay annoyance with Concussive Shot. If I hold the LB and target it that way, it "seeks"...aka it can't miss unless they go behind cover. If I just tap LB to use it, I have to actually aim it, and it doesn't seek. It's completely minor and almost nit picky, but it did kind of annoy me last night.
Does he ever fix his armor? Or does he walk around the rest of the game all busted up?
I'll admit that I kind of like the Boba Fett "I earned these battle scars" look to his armor.
Funny story: I went to pick up my preorder last night, and a really cute girl rang me up. She started talking about how great ME2 was, and told me how she's psyched about being able to romance Garrus in this game. She even laughed at my lame joke about "saving myself for Tali" when I told her that I skipped all of the romance options last game, having kicked the girls out of my room before Ilios.
One of you needs to head over there and marry this girl. Now.
Nope, armor never gets fixed. I did his personal quest thinking that his alt would be fully intact, but it is all busted up too..
When people complain that we dumbed things down for the console crowd / shooter crowd, or said we removed the RPG elements, they rarely elaborate on what they mean.
RPG elements could mean damn near anything, and so can dumbing things down.
The only things I've seen so far that people have really elaborated on is, they want to see the stats on things, they want to loot dead people for whatever(their teeth I guess), and they want more elaborate skill trees.
But "RPG" can mean a hell of a lot more than that, so god knows what else people are upset about.
It's actually a little frustrating that almost everybody has a different idea of what "RPG" means.

Garrus is a romance option? wow
I play all male sheps, so I have no idea about Garrus personally. She seemed to think so though, I swear if I were 10 years younger and single...
Anyways, no complaints about the armor here. The slightly-busted armor look is actually awesome, like Slave-1 and Boba Fett.
They could have taken out all the leveling and equipment changing and left in the conversation options and the Paragon/Renegade stuff and I'd still call it an RPG.

And yes, my biggest gripe is that weapons don't have stats on them that I can numerically compare. It wouldn't be so bad if we could change weapons mid-mission, on the fly, like an FPS...but we can't. We have to play weapon locker double dutch to check out how different weapons operate.

I like not having stats
That way I don't have to worry about how much better the other assault rifle is because I don't like it very much

To be fair, the weapon descriptions say "This is an upgrade of this".
To be extra fair, real weapons don't have damage ratings to numerically compare.

And it gets better if you add to that the extra time and damage cloak gives you when foes are 'duh, where did he go george?' BOOM HEADSHOT. What it good for you? *smoke*
Yeah, I really wanted to make a spreadsheet about whether or not my +2 AP Pistol is better than my +2 Damage pistol.
It says it clearly in the weapon description if the weapon is an upgrade. If you don't like it, go back to the former. I prefer this method because it means I can still use the single shot sniper and not have any dps loss thanks to the research upgrades.
Just remember that most gamers don't actually post on forums.

Did you seriously just go to the "real weapons" reasoning in a game about flying around the galaxy in space ships, shooting blaster rifles at people, and throwing them through the air with psychic powers? I'm just want to make sure.
Also, those "this is an upgrade of XXX" messages are entirely subjective to some designer deciding it's actually better. Take the battle rifle over the AR. The battle rifle is tagged as "better", but in practice I hate it, the AR is a much more reliable weapon for a prolonged fight.

Uhhh, Tali recruitment mission might be my faaaaavorite. Also, some archangel spoilers/questions.
Last game I taught Garrus the importance of sticking to a code and playing by the rules, as evidenced in the Dr. Heart thing. Now he's back to his whole "IMA KILL EVERYTHING I HATE RULES RAAAAR." What the hell happened?
The only things I've seen so far that people have really elaborated on is, they want to see the stats on things, they want to loot dead people for whatever(their teeth I guess), and they want more elaborate skill trees.
<sarcasm>
But EVERY RPG ev3r has had us loot the dead!! Every single one!!! This is a fundamental law!
</sarcasm>
As for the other bits. By my math, you can get, at most, 60 skill points (2x30). Since you have 7 skills (counting the bonus) you can't max them all. In fact, unless you completely ignore one skill (hope it's not a prereq!), you can only max five. Which means that while the skill trees are flat (except the prereqs), you can't max everything. Which makes you make a descision on skills.. Not like an Amazon from D2, but there is a choice.
Stats on things... Meh. Yes its better from a meta-game standpoint. But except Special Forces (yes, N7 is), soldiers use the guns issued to them. Special Forces get a bit wider of a selection, but 90% of the stuff they choose from was issued to some military force at some point. (And it's not like sheperd has access to an alliance armory, or even the Spectre stocks any more.) Be glad that you've got someone on the team (Jacob/Mordin) who can even make objective judgements about which gun is better. Unless you really want to break out the high-speed cameras to figure out the muzzle velocity, then find lots of corpses and a couple of medics to do wound analysis on?
Yes real weapons have lots of ways to compare... But someone has to collect the stats by doing the stuff I mentioned at the end of the last paragraph. Here and now on Earth, if you find some random weapon in a gun store, you can probably do some research and figure out which <stat> is better between gun a and gun b. But in ME2 you're not in citadel space, so if you find <new batarian gun X> how do you know if it's better than standard alliance/turian issue? (Yes, I used batarian with malice.)

This is no longer true. Regular infantry are given a lot more freedom to customize their weapons than in the past. You get issued a base M4, but you can then mix and match a set of attachments (within a set list). Yes, the special forces guys get more freedom, but you're average infantry these days is allowed some freedom in customizing his weapon to fit his mission and his tastes. Usually an armory sergeant has to approve it, and do the work, but that's not an issue.
