So I was thinking about Advanced Weapon Training. (not really spoilers but can't hurt)
For my Infiltrator, getting the huge anti-tank rifle definitely was worth it, but my next playthrough, a Vanguard...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the advanced shotgun is also one-shot and reload. That seems like a serious downgrade from an autoshotgun. Vanguards also seem like a class that could seriously benefit from adding a weapon class they lack.

    so why the fuck
did Mordin die at the end of my game? He was loyal and had his upgrade thingy (just like everyone else and they all survived) is there something I missed? Should I have send him back with the other crew members instead of Samara?

How do you learn Advance weapon training? Is it plot-related or a sidequest?

    Plot related.

Didn't really make much sense why then, but it happens when (midgame):
You board the collector ghost ship.

I am halfway through a bottle of dr. pepper. I bought it so I could get the recon hood on the PC version. This stuff is so vile, I can barely stand it. I don't know if I can take two more bottles for the sake of getting the sentry interface and the visor.

I used to be hooked on that stuff. It gave my heart palpitations.

I am not sure if it is worth it for the items.

Who cares about her teeth? I for one can't wait to show her that a certain part of my body still "functions" correctly after the revival.

That is, next playthrough, since this one I am all for Tali.

Aw hell, I'll probably go for Tali next playthrough as well.

    And the one after that...

I seriously don't get people lusting after Tali. I mean, I like Tali, had her with me almost all the time in ME1 and was so glad when I was able to help her out with her Pilgrimage or whatever.

But seriously... what is it? I mean... is it just the mystery? She could look like anything under that suit and since I bet she doesn't come out of there very often, she probably smells pretty terrible.

She's a great character and I definitely approve of her returning in ME2, but why does anyone want to romance her?

    1. Alien woman fantasies are at the core of every good straight nerd male.

    2. Tali is an engineering type with a fascination for technology and software. I'm an engineer for real. She clicks for me.

    3. You're assuming she has similar biological processes to a human (for example, that she has a digestive tract that depends on messy, stinky bacterial colonies to break food down).

Minor spoiler for those going into the Tali romance...
You don't see her face, if that's what is driving the decision. Very lovely, tastefully done scene, though. Loved her dialogue.

    Decent mid-game spoilers.
I'm assuming we are talking about when you go on the collector ship and after you find out they are Protheian and you find the shit on the ground no? I'm a Vanguard, could have gotten Grunt super shotgun, but took an assault rifle instead, and do not regret it at all. I hardly ever use the shotgun unless there are only 2-3 enemies left and I feel like charging them, otherwise your better 99% of the time not using it. All charging+shotgunning is really good for is getting you killed. Not that you need an assault rifle, since the 1st new*and last?* SMG you find is big pile of rape.

Man Tali is the best! She is a nice girl and would still be the best if she had a sloth face with a turkey's waddle. She matches the type I like to roll with IRL, someone who's nice, doesn't start drama, and will do the right thing.

The mystery makes it even more interesting. 8-) Though yeah, if her species has anything to do with perspiration, it is fucking smelly in that garb. And how does she eat anyway.

A threesome with Tali and Kelly would be utmost pleasant for Blake Shephard. Close the door, you're lettin' all the stank out!

Also, I'm impressed that Bioware's characterization is good enough for us to be even posting these kind of things. How Garrus, a videogame alien guy with a funny face can feel like a broha. I am at awe.

So, my copy of Mass Effect 2 finally dropped through my mailslot today and there was much rejoicing to be done. I'm only at Omega right now but I'm still having a hard time deciding whether I should stick with my Soldier or if I should restart as a Vanguard. I guess only time will tell.

I'm sure that this question has been asked to the death by now but since I don't want to be spoiled I can't really scan the thread for an answer. It's Archangel related:
Is it possible to avoid the entire scene where Garrus gets half his face blown off? Is there a deciscion I missed or is it unavoidable?

I dont know the specifics but
was everyone loyal and alive by that point? I think if anyone else isn't loyal they might not be doing as well as the others and someone who is loyal can die for their failing. Mordin does seem to be dying for a lot of people but they tend to be missing something loyalty wise or using him for the wrong job.

Yeah, they really fucked it up with the "Can we talk" when there's no more. That should disappear or there should have been a final line like the one Grunt gives, when you know you've discussed everything.

Talk to the guy by the entrance. You want him to mention Expel 10
Talk to the guy standing by himself. He says he is working with a reporter, who is in trouble. You need to go to talk to the gang member (seated at a table with the female repoter) and use I think it was terminal and horizon in a sentence, in that order, so she leaves. Its the code, you see.
Then go talk to the two Turians planning to pickpocket somebody. Provoke them into pushing you, then take them down.
Then go to the bar, use paragon so he gives everybody a drink. Morinth comes to see you. I assume you've gotten this far already

Then talk about music, mention Expel 10. Then talk about art, mention Vanea. Then talk about travel, she says something about dark places, talks about power. Use the renegade or paragon options wherever possible. Turn down the drugs. That's it. To her apartment!

To get the Vanea option you have to watch the daughter's video diary, every entry. Just skip through em if you don't want to actually watch.

EA's entire system is so fucking retarded...it's terrible. I am going to have spend an hour on the phone with customer service to try and clear it all up.

Just in case you didn't know, you can delete your old EA account which frees up your gamertag to be used by a new account.

At least, it worked for me.

Speaking of Samara.. last convo I had with her
She told me its a good thing I made her swear an oath, and she'll be forced to kill me once she's released. Anybody get a better response than that?

So... two hours until people in the UK are actually able to download this from Steam. Awesome.

    Why is that all spoilered?

I don't get the Tali love. She is more like a female friend. Almost like that sweet nun with the mustache. She is damn kind and awesome, but no way in that way.
because tali is so sweet, she's that nerdy chick you like that has asthma and is easy on the eyes.
Risking sounding creepy, but nerdy shy girls are awesome. (From experience they are also quite randy. Its a weird phenomenon.)
I actually picked tali because i didn't think there could be a physical romance, then i find out she wants some skin-to-skin contact realllll bad.

dang...well, glad she didn't die from anything from shepard.

I am halfway through a bottle of dr. pepper. I bought it so I could get the recon hood on the PC version. This stuff is so vile, I can barely stand it. I don't know if I can take two more bottles for the sake of getting the sentry interface and the visor.

Do... do they send someone to check on you when you enter the code? Is actually drinking it a requirement or something?

No, I just hate to waste things. Buying something only to throw the contents away is pretty much against my nature.

Maybe the dr. pepper will go better if it's mixed with a lot of rum. Mash Effectsh here I come!
