She's not unattractive. Yeah if you know anything about art her body proportions are screwy but the idea was to make her slender and agile as a direct opposite to Dante's Super Buff Action man look .

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Rodin is a Lumen sage who was killed and dragged to hell. It's a decent curveball, and actually explains why he needs Halo's to revert back to his true form. Although I would have much rather had a fight with the devil
Actually...
...Rodin, the Infinite One, was never human to begin with, but an angel, weaponsmith to the Laguna. He was eventually cast down into Inferno for political reasons, what with being super-powerful and all. In addition, although he does refer to the Devil in the third person, his backstory is an obvious parallel to the tale of Lucifer. Make of that what you will.
Unlock him in-game and an entry for him, where you can read all about it, will appear in your Select-menu.
So I just picked up this game, after having being tempted to for quite some time now. All I can say is - wow. This fits my "I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR AN INSANE COMBO GAME" twitch to a tee.
The only thing I'm pissed off at is the Burning Angels who you can't hit with melee attacks without screwing yourself over. Also the bosses tend to rape you the first time you play.
This game is fucking terrible, Bayonetta has got ot be the most unnatractive videogame character in the history of mankind. I seriously expected better from the guy that created VIEWTIFUL JOE.
I'll admit that guns on shoes is awesome though...
Hahahaahahhahaha!!!
Most unattractive? Wow. You must have a really, really unreachable bar of attractiveness. Jesus.
Uh, wow buddy, this speaks volumes on your views of women.
Still not seeing what the fuck you guys are talking about. But whatever.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad without the QTEs. And the QTEs still get me on replays because they switch which buttons correspond to which actions midway through the game. Excluding Jeanne, though, they're all simple pattern bosses. Dodge timing is pretty much all you need once you learn the pattern.

Maybe in DMC 4 sure, but in 3 he was practically a badass ectomorphic build, and that game seems to be the best in the series.
It's a video game. Bayonetta is not a real person, nor is she representative of one. Liking or disliking the character design says nothing about a person, their views on beauty, women, or anything else. I repeat, it's a video game. One in which an over the top supertall witch who uses her hair as a bodysuit and wears guns on her high-heels beats the living crap out of angels using a wide array of impossible kung-fu moves, gun kata, and magical hair attacks. Chill. The fuck. Out.
Hrm. I'm really enjoying this game, but I'm also dying a whole hell of a lot. Is this normal for a first playthrough? It seems everytime they introduce a new enemy, it kicks my ass a few times, then I figure out how to deal with it, end the fight with a sliver of life, walk a few feet, repeat.
I'm just not feeling the flow yet. I need to get better at dodging without breaking my combos, too.
Yeah, I know how to do it. It's a matter of training myself to actually do it.

Dodge Offset is kind of a misleading idea, as I see it. When I was trying to use it as a defensive, reactive ability to avoid attacks while keeping up a fluid combo string, I got massacred. Mostly, this is because it's pretty hard to pay attention to dodge timing when you're also paying attention to attack timing that doesn't line up with it. Imagine playing a song while listening to another song in a different tempo or time signature. Yeah. You're more likely to try to dodge in time with your strikes because it feels more natural, and it's probably going to be slightly too early or late to actually avoid the attack.
Its real value is as an offensive technique to quickly access specific hits in combo. Dodging cancels attack animations, so you can attack and immediately cancel to dodge offset, then repeat until you get to a weave or special hit, then bust that out on whatever. It saves time and eliminates a lot of risk with the longer combos. The string of dodges will also allow you to reposition yourself around a group of enemies safely. Plus, doing this sort of thing with panther form pretty well breaks the combo system, since panther form doesn't waste time with animations or anything.
Anyway, Bayonetta is fond of kicking your ass with spontaneous difficulty spikes just because it can. Each enemy type behaves in a wildly different manner from every other enemy type, so it does take a bit of practice to work out how to approach them. Some need to be aggressively combo'd. Some you'll need to dodge continuously. Some are more dangerous and close or long range. Some have weaknesses to specific attacks or tactics for one reason or another.
Also, I find the whip worthless, and the katana to be the embodiment of all that is just and right in this world.
pretty much correct
the whip has a couple moves that grapple enemies and have huge damage potential, but it's generally a lot more limited in its use than the other weapons
also, for added fun and games, when you have the katana equipped, hold down Y for a very long time
As in, long enough for awesome bushido action, or as in, rubberband the button down for 10 minutes and go make a sandwich, then come back to awesomeness?

I think you also have to be holding your lock-on button. After you hold it for a few moments she'll slowly start drawing a circle in front of her with the sword.
It can technically be used to kill enemies but it takes so long to charge up that you'll almost always get hit before the attack is ready.

The laser is holding lockon, not P. You hold lockon while not doing anything else.
Also, I love the whip so much. There's a lot of situations where it's pretty ineffective and I've mostly been using shotgunhands/rocketfeets through the higher difficulties, but still. Whip/Skates is where my heart is.
Even playing through the game on the highest difficulty, I rarely used dodge offsets. The majority of the time it was quick dodges and the quick wicked weaves like PKP with the katana.
Also, oddly fitting, as I'm just replaying Okami. I really wish the Wii version added another difficulty setting because doing the three Devil Gate challenges right before the game's end demonstrates just how strong the combat system is. If your game is not on by the Kamui gate you're either dead or spamming expensive items like there's no tomorrow.
Also, discovered you can dodge-offset with the glaive (even if by sheer technicality, since you can move around while charging attacks). Made me smile.

the first one, namely
i never actually used it on enemies myself because it's so slow, but i've seen it used to one-shot the giant axe angels

It is both handy and dandy.

That is so handy and dandy, it should be in the op or something. Were the OP not jailed, I suppose.

The whip is great for wide-open spaces. Just endless jump combos, switch to Katana/Rocket Launchers, and mario jump to victory
Spending an entire battle in the air is what perfect gameplay experiences are made of.

A new game? A crossover? Anime series? Real-life hair suits for sale?
WE CAN ONLY DREAM!
Is DLC a possibility?
In my fantasy zone, it is.
