Off the top of my head there are blue 200 physical dps trinkets in heroic UP and DTK an epic one in FoS. Maybe more I'm not thinking of. So it's not quite a jump from trash to raid level.
Mood Killer: My Warrior who is still 5 items short of the Superior achievement was sent into Heroic FoS as a Tank. I am wearing a quest necklace from Z'D, Tempered Saronite Gaunts, and my trinkets are both from before WotLK and my ranged weapon is some quest item from Storm Peaks. I should have just stepped out of it right as soon as I saw it was Forge of Souls. First two things went well but I lost aggro on one of them a couple times, second group went ok, but the third group I died so quickly I don't think the healer had any time to react at all.
Now I feel bad about giving it a shot but only a little bad.
Happy: up to 4/5 Furious pieces, and picked up the ilvl 245 pvp boots.
Hate: Horde on Arygos still don't know how to win WG. Even with only one stack of tenacity, there still aren't enough people guarding towers. On top of that, I know of only one successful defense of WG in the last two months.
Amusing: I discovered that the weekly "gathering" quest for WG involved the fire elementals, and I still needed the Cauldron area for my Wintergrasp Ranger achievement, so I hung around there and ganked Alliance that were coming in to do the quest.
One of the people I ganked apparently didn't take too kindly to it, and a few minutes later got an angry whisper from a level 1 horde rogue about ganking people while questing. I replied to him in 3 whispers:
Whisper 1: Welcome to Wintergrasp!
Whisper 2: You may notice that little flag indicates that you have pvp enabled!
Whisper 3: Happy questing!
/ignore level 1 alt.
Woot: Cleared to Sindragosa in ~2 hours, only one wipe prior to the brood mother, and it was on trash!
FUCK: 10k HP wipe .
Gaah: Probably won't go back till sunday.
Hate: Only did 10m because only 20 people showed up for 25m BLood Queen.
Happy: I feel so behind but finally exalted with Ashen Verdict. Yes i could of gone on rep farms, yes I could go back to 25 man raids, but I still got it in the end with less coin spent on repairs
Hate: I may consider getting my spot back for tokens. Unless Arthas drops them like ToC did?
Amuzed: Did a couple of randoms (even though lag was bad again. 10 min to mail stuff!) I wasn't tanking but again a healer would pull ahead of the tank, and now DPS is doing it too. Also grouped with a DK doing a amazing 900 dps, he was in all pvp purples. Not a stitch of enchants or gems...
I posted dmg meters and he up'd his dps by 30. But man that's mind blowing, no enchants? No gems? srsly? on anything...?
Hate: Logged on last night to catch up with the guild and run a couple randoms. First I ran on my baby DK and got an RTard Hunter who decided to set the pace of the instance run by pulling. He was using misdirect but the healer could just not keep up. Pali healer with under 10k health and mana you have to hand hold. I left after we wiped on the first boss. No theatrics just left. Healed a random on my Shaman that went well just had alot of people bitching about nothing in it. I didnt even want to do my lock random after all that.
Happy: Kindle ETA 4 days. And ME2 going strong! Taking my time with it.

You forgot to mention how your loving boyfriend gave you hell for mocking someone in H. Nexus :P
I agree witg Gnutson's post. If the boss is dead and we aren't we all did our job.
Also happy: Enh shammyninging is very fun. Much more fun than "olol combo points" roguetry or "olol stand still and nuke from afar" huntaroonery.
I do find it amusing that you comment on Roguing seeing as the difference is between building lol combo points and... lol streaky as hell stacks of Maelstrom Weapon procs.
Granted, I really haven't played my Rogue in a long while since getting her to 80, but I do agree that Enhancement Shamaning is pretty fun. It's just fairly odd how ridiculously streaky those procs can be. I think combo point gain is a bit more... regular I guess?

Well, if you've got 4 combo points on your target and then it dies right before you get to use them, those points are gone. If you've got a 4-stack of Maelstrom and the target dies, you've still got a 4-stack of Maelstrom.
At the speed which things die in heroics nowadays, I find Rogues very frustrating to play.
The old way combo points worked was so much better; they remained even if the target was dead.
I don't recall if they had a finite duration, but killing something and then popping Slice and Dice with however many points were on it was pretty sweet for questing/trash killing, rather than "the mob is getting close to dying better use that slice and di... shit, someone crit him and he's dead, blah".

They still went away at mob death, but there was a usable lag period where you could burn a SnD if you were quick enough. But not if you had more than one thing beating on you, because the moment mob 2 hit you you'd target it and lose the CPs.

Nope. They stuck around for a pretty impressive period of time.
I used to wander a good distance from the dead mob and use the combo points to start up a new slice and dice. The primary limiting factors I found at the time were generating a combo point on another mob or getting far enough away from the original.
It was definitely more than just a lag related 'grace period', and I seem to recall an early patch note dealing with the removal of this specifically, and being a bit disappointed that it was being "fixed".

My bad. I started with the rogue in 1.4, maybe 1.5? so it must have been before then.

This *is* a good point and a notable difference actually, and I've actually been impressed at how long Maelstrom Weapon remains on.
And so much this. I love the puppies... need to get better about popping them, sometimes I forget. And then I also end up running a lot of FoS and PoS, which have bad bosses to bring them out on... Devourer and Tyrannus.
Man, you all make me want to spec back to enh on my shammy. Honestly I don't know why I ever went elemental, but I have zero desire to re-re-regear what is effectively my alt/cashcow now.
The reason that they exist on the mobs is to make switching targets a choice instead of just tab targeting all crazy like a fury warrior. Rogues stick to a target for a reason.

Sad: Still no goddamn trinket on my pally and my next belt upgrade looks to be from Sindragosa (hate that fight, but we're still learning it)
Amused: The Blood Queen buff. "So whoever gets the buff first, bite the ret pally".
Hope: She dies tonight so we can work on the dargons tonight.
Now I feel bad about giving it a shot but only a little bad.

I also refuse to inspect people in heroics.
I am now much less frustrated.
Did trash or boss die and we are still going? If yes then sucess, if no then reque or try again with same group.

Feral druid that was pulling 2.5k dps is now pulling almost 6+ after I gave him FeralByNight.

It probably was. This was probably around early 2005'ish, so immediately after release.
I think it was also back when Vanish worked.
*sigh* Those were the days.

RRRARWRBLLG RRRAWRWRGBLLG AAAAH NO SHUT UP SHUT UP
Then again, KS+ability generates at the minimum 3 combo points, more depending on spec, so hmm.
Kidney Shot?
Killing Spree?

Floowins tears sustain me.
Better be careful. Blizzard has a team that scours the interwebs for comments exactly like that, in response to the accusation of being overpowered.
