Wow. Insanity as an Adept really sucks. Like, really, really, really sucks.
Also some way to skip the starting cutscenes would be v. nice. I've seen then like ten times already.
Yeah I tried insanity as an adept too, it was just fucking painful.
Then I switched to infiltrator and everything turned into rainbows and bunnies, bunnies that hide behind crates and pop out to shoot people in the head with a sniper rifle and bullet time sure but still bunnies.

Does she actually count (ie your previous romances photo gets turned down afterwards)? Or is it just a one off thing?
Nope.
Oh, so she's more of a 'here's a 'romance' to play with in this game but not fuck up your ME1/3 romance'?

I feel so sorry for my Renegade Infiltrator Shepard (ROMANCE SPOILERS HO!):
By ME3's conclusion, he's going to have a racist gunnery chief, the perfect woman, a psychotic biotic and a badass Quarian with a heart of gold all wanting to rip his balls off for consistent infidelity. That, my friends, is worse than the Reaper threat.
I know he's a stone-cold killer sniper but (TALI LOYALTY MISSION SPOILERS):
When she found her dad I couldn't help but pull the left trigger and give her a hug.
I just started the suicide mission, and I need a little help.
On the second part, where you're walking around in the biotic bubble, who are you supposed to send on the backup team? I tried Zaeed, but he took a shot to the gut. Then I tried Grunt, but same thing. Since they both mentioned their shields gave out, I tried Legion next, but he drops too. I'm tempted to just let it go and accept the lost... but I'm also dead set on getting everybody through. Everybody's loyal, so that's not an issue. So, what's the magic choice to pick so they live?
I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
Only lost Jack. Didn't even see how she died, it just panned over her body lying there on the ground.
Also definitely destroyed the Collector base. No way in hell was I letting that thing live.
All in all, excellent game. Marked improvement over the first game in almost every way.
I say almost because I didn't think the main storyline was up to par with the first's in any way. It felt way too rushed. What were there, like a grand total of 4 main missions? It went through it way too quickly.
Is there a character planner/calculator/etc for Mass Effect 1 out there anywhere? Wanna make sure I'm not gimping myself.
You can respec for the low low cost of like, a thousand eezo, and despite everyone bitching about how rare it is, it REALLY ISN'T.
So don't worry about gimping yourself.
Eezo isn't common, but the stuff that uses it never uses tons.
Which is why the Long Service Medal bonus resources are so great. There's no way in hell I can use 50k Eezo on one playthrough. I'll never have to mine that stuff again.

I ended up sticking with Vanguard since I didn't want to alter my character. Biotic Charge is pretty neat, but unless it's a sole enemy, you kind of get yourself into trouble more often with it. Is there a way to use it without screwing yourself? Maybe that evolution at the end of its path where it puts you in slowmo when you hit the enemy? I dunno. it looks cool when you do it, and makes sense for a character that likes to get into the enemies face, but you just don't have the survivability to use it properly.
Liz Sroka? Your voicing of Tali was brilliant. Fucking brilliant.
When she finds her dead fatherand th Paragon interrrupt is to say "hey, it's OK," and give her a hug, genius. Classic gaming moment right there. Oh, and then it gets better, Commander Shepherd makes a badass speech to end all badass speeches. This game is made of win.

There did seem to be very little in the way of core story missions, I assume because the loyalty missions are fleshed out somewhat (sometimes, I think Jack's was weak) to compensate since your only goal is preparation theres not much you can do in the way of core missions regarding that.

so you considered every mission to recruit your team a side mission?

As far as I was concerned, the recruitment was the meat of the game anyway, so that didn't bother me.
Right from the start the game is all, this is what you have to do, prep for it. I didn't expect there to be all that much else.
My only real problem is how damn expensive everything is. I have lots of resources but no damn credits. I don't see why I can't sell any of these resources. 50,000 iridium has to be worth something.

Heavy Charge + one of the defensive bonus skills makes it much more viable.

I found it waaaay more useful once I unlocked Barrier and Heavy Charge. Though it showed how weak the shogun can be, when I'd charge in then start punching people to death.
Maybe it's better if you unlock the krogan shotgun. But I saw it had 1 bullet per clip and immediately reloaded and picked up sniper rifles.

Oh good gravy (more romance spoilers):
Garrus has some of the most unintentionally hilarious dialogue ever.
"You know me, I always like to savour the last shot before popping the heat sink."
*Awkward pause between Shepard and Garrus.*
"Wait. That metaphor just went somewhere horrible."
And Tali's just seems so genuine and sweet. I feel like a real clout for going with Miranda.
My only real problem is how damn expensive everything is. I have lots of resources but no damn credits. I don't see why I can't sell any of these resources. 50,000 iridium has to be worth something.
This.
The only resource I had issues with was cash. Even only scanning rich planets I ended with all the tech upgrades the game would let me buy and around 50k eezo and 200k of each mineral. Granted this was on an imported level 60.
Is there a gameplay difference between Barrier, Fortify, and Shield Boost? I stuck with Barrier since it fit for a vanguard, but do enemy warps knock out a barrier faster, rockets knocking out fortify, etc?

By the end of the game, you really should have had more than enough to buy almost everything. I was short only a few items (three, I believe). If you do New Game Plus, the bonus money should be enough to get EVERYTHING.
Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out what bonus power I want for my Insanity run. Warp Ammo?

I've found shotgun with Cryo rounds to be the best. Or anything with Cryo rounds.
Also, I learned not to buy anything unless I have some sort of discount, since I think literally every vendor offers one. Either from quest completion or negotiation.

Do I roll Adept or Infiltrator on my next playthrough? I played a soldier last
Infiltrator's are fun because everything in this game seems to have giant heads when looking through that scope just begging to be popped. Someone gets the drop on you and your cloak's recharging though, you're usually toast. You need a good strong team to tie up the enemy and ignore you so you can get more shots in.

Nope.

Nice.
Veeeery nice.
It's only two rings, what does that mean?

[edit] as for cash, I had more cash than I could spend.
I can't keep Iridium for more than like 3 seconds before I've spent it all again
Fortification looks pretty badass though.

It's weird having three ammo powers, but I never use Cryo anyway.
