Monolith+Nintendo Announces XenoBlade: Third Xeno Is the Charm?

So yesterday I read about an upcoming Nintendo title known as XenoBlade. I immediately dismissed it, thinking it couldn't have anything to do with the previous Xeno series.

It seems I was wrong.

Right now, I have no idea what to make of this. I don't know if this follows Xenosaga, or is an entirely new thinly-connected Xeno project.

But as someone who is an immense fan of Xenogears, and highly enjoyed Xenosaga's characters and setting (but ultimately grew disappointed in the subsequent episodes, for several reasons), I'm keeping a watch on this. I think a brand new series would work best in order to remove the stigma from Xenosaga (not that I think it isn't salvageable, but a fresh start would probably be best).

And as with Gears and Saga, the first thing that catches your attention is the music. The BGM in this site is FANTASTIC, whether it's from Mitsuda or Kajiura. If they manage to convey the usual drama from the previous games, this will instantly become one of my most anticipated RPGs for this year.

Also, I've been planning on making a Xenogears thread for a while now, which this thread may likely transform into, but for now let's ponder about this new thing coming up, and what you hope to see/not see.

Yeah, I know, but I think this is for the best.

Face it, Monolith hasn't exactly been making SE money....not even crappy SE money. A smaller budget project might cause them to focus less on 2 hour cutscenes (which I never minded in the first place) and make sure the game is fun to play, first and foremost.

At the very least, I hope they are forced to think smaller in regards to the story. Planning a sequel or trilogy is fine, but planning six episodes right off the bat results in some lazy bullshit ("That is to be revealed in future episodes).

Oohhh man. I loved Xenosaga ep:1... Never played the others but own them. I played Xenogears up to the second disk, but got my ass stuck on a boss that I couldn't beat and I didn't have any extra saves.

From that day on I have at least 4 hour increments for my saves in long RPGs.

It could be Xenosaga 2 & 3's composer, who actually did good music for the series.

I have a personal rule to never trust anyone with a gamer score over 10k to not be a silly goose, especially when it comes to video games NOT on an Xbox platform.

This particular goose needn't worry about getting his 1k on this game.

Different Monolith. The one you're thinking of is owned by Warner, not Nintendo.

    From a gameplay standpoint, sure.

But I seriously did not like the cliff note's fast forwarding of the story to fit everything in one game, nor how the secondary characters served no purpose and barely even spoke during key events, and not to mention the WORST DECISION EVER BY A MAIN CHARACTER.

The sheer retardedness of "that scene" is epic beyond scale.
    Shame about the Wii

Hope this means the return of KOS-MOS

I imagine, at the very least, they'll find KOS-MOS' remains and reactivate her. She's pretty much the poster child for Monolith, so they'll likely find a way to throw her in.

Supposedly there was an E3 trailer for this game, but I haven't come across it.

    Edit: Found some screenshots.

I don't see anything even resembling the past Xeno games here, so it might just be something in name only. I really don't know.

Well, it really depends on Namco's whim/involvement with this game as they own everything to do with Saga outright.

    Remember the original title Snugglypoo?

In many Gnostic systems (and heresiologies), the Supreme Being is known as the Monad, the One, The Absolute Aiōn teleos (The Perfect Æon, αἰών τέλεος), Bythos (Depth or Profundity, Βυθός), Proarchē (Before the Beginning, προαρχή), and Hē Archē (The Beginning, ἡ ἀρχή) and The ineffable parent. The One is the high source of the pleroma, the region of light. The various emanations of The One are called æons.

Within certain variations of Gnosticism, especially those inspired by Monoimus, the Monad was the highest god which created lesser gods, or elements (similar to æons). Some versions of ancient Gnosticism, especially those deriving from Valentinius, a lesser deity known as the Demiurge had a role in the creation of the material world in addition to the role of the Monad. In these forms of gnosticism, the God of the Old Testament is often considered to have been the Demiurge, not the Monad, or sometimes different passages are interpreted as referring to each.

This Monad is the spiritual source of everything which emanates the pleroma, and could be contrasted to the darkness of pure matter.

There's a slight possibility that this takes place
in the new world that was created after the events of Episode III.

The prototype name of this game was "New World", right? It could be implying that.

This would also mean that we should see a reincarnated Jin Uzuki, under a different name.

Of course if this is the case, this essentially removes Xenogears completely from the current canon. :(
