This is all theorytrek, but I'm thinking for PvE Arrays are the way to go because you can get the full broadside, and the AI doesn't seem smart enough to try to get behind you. For PvP banks might be a better idea due to BoPs that like to settle in behind and pummel your rear shields.
Don't bother with dual banks; you can't rear-mount them anyway.
Cruisers aren't as bad as the forum makes them out to be, but they do tend to be sub-par. At least, the T2 cruisers feel that way. They have more HP/shields than an Escort, but the mobs aren't really tough enough in the early/mid tier for that to matter. All 3 types can faceroll, but escorts will faceroll much faster. At the upper end of the tier, cruisers can still faceroll, but doing the same in an escort will get you killed.
Cruisers need a little help in the turning department. The heavy cruiser's base 7 turn rate is about as slow as most people can tolerate. Damage-wise, you can keep up with an escort in T3 and T5 if you know how to manage your turning and weapons, but the T4 really can't because it turns like a slug trapped in glue and frozen solid. Escorts do have some survivability issues at T4 if you're not careful.
Oh, and regarding skills: T3 and T4 Ship Captain skills are worthless. Don't even bother. Unless you're a Tac captain, in which case you should find a way to get points into Escorts and Heavy Escorts regardless of which ship you want to fly. Your Attack Pattern Alpha gets a very substantial boost from these skills.

316 of 756. My borg name? No, my position in the login queue.
I want my science vessel!
Everyone's always talking about mixing it up and trying different ships, but in the long run, shouldn't you just stick with 1 type? I'm a science officer and I'm going to be dumping all my skill points into science vessels so I would be gimped if I ever tried to fly anything else.

Serious server capacity issue.

Oh, btw, for those of you having trouble finding shit on ground missions (I know I am), the v key will scan the area. First it will point you to the Anomalies in the area. When those are done, the blue beam will point you at the nearest clickable object.

It actually just points you at the closest thing that either an objective or an anomaly.

Nope, closest thing you can hit F on. I know cause it just sent me to a downed colonist I could heal (no reason to, unless there's hidden objectives or it tracks your humanitarian efforts or something), and a crate I could open, before it sent me to the last one of these stupid matter charges.
Are the higher tier weapons (antiprotons et all) worth taking for higher DPS, or do the higher level Phasers match them for DPS, and it's just a matter of the secondary effects that you get from them?
I have a green kit. It says it gives two different abilities. How do I use the other ability?

DPS is exactly the same for all energy weapon types. Secondary effects are the only difference.
The second ability should show up in your ability tray thingy next to the first one.
Just tell me there's Trouble with Tribbles in the server farm or something.

Do I look like the sort of man who'd go and find unsuspecting Japanese schoolgirls in short skirts and white panties and ask them if they want to see my "Cthulu Special"?
There was a state of the game that offered a peak into Cryptic's own expectations for this game, something along the lines of "way more popular than we had anticipated." Odd that they haven't forecasted, based on beta accounts, what kind of numbers they would see at headstart and by extension retail launch very well...
or perhaps they either expect or encourage early subscription falloff and have dished out the server needs for what they expect volume-wise in March...?

At the moment there are very few vendors on the Klingon side that even work. Worse comes to worse, you can mail items to yourself from your other character.
How do you do that anyway? I haven't been able to figure it out.
Same way you'd mail something to anyone else. Go to the mail box (it's by the bank) and type in your character@user name.
At least you can get a couple of consoles in to increase turn rate, it helps a bit.
Aux power levels effect turn rate as well. You might think of getting the Aux power boosting skills and maybe not keeping it down at 25/25 all the time.
maybe. So it looks like I'm still getting a "bug" though it could just be lag. I seem to warp sometimes before my camera is in position. Then when the camera is at the right angle, I somehow come back and start cruising towards my destination.
Happens to everyone. It used to be a lot worse in Beta
I've yet to see my "Target Weapon subsystems" thing actually disable the weapons...or engines..or shields.
I'm guessing its pretty rare? Does it depend on how much Aux you have when you fire?
It procs for me about 1 out of every 10 times I try it. Keep in mind though, even if it oesn't totally disable the system, it's still hitting them with a pretty significant debuff. I've seen an NPC's disruptor damage drop by almost half.
I started as 0 of 0 than 57 of 57 now I'm 53 of 1224

Not very accurate -- I'm in game now.

+5 Photonic Theory? So what, it increase... torpedo damage? +5 Ship Sensor probes? What?
Photonic Theory increase certain Science skills like Photonic fleet and such, it does however not do anything to Photon Torpedoes afaik.
Sensor Probes is another subdivision of abilities, I cannot however tell you what abilities are classified as Sensor Probes.
+5 means that the skill is improved by 5% afaik.
If you can't beat them, join them.
Aw that is all kinds of lame. Oh well.
Loadtimes are bad again, probably should expect the server to go down soon.
So... Is there a chart anywhere of this? I'm all for technobabble, very very trek-ish, but... this is nuts.
This might explain why the game is up but running like shit.
I'm halfway through level 8 aaaugggh. I want my second tier ship.
I want my science vessel!

So questions, I guess:
Are the higher tier weapons (antiprotons et all) worth taking for higher DPS, or do the higher level Phasers match them for DPS, and it's just a matter of the secondary effects that you get from them?
