i am semi-seriously thinking about shaving a maple leaf into the back of my head for the olympics. my hair is just over 1/8" right now so it'd show up pretty well but be basically grown out by the end of the festivities.

Just be sure that its in the shape of a maple leaf obviously enough. If I had a nickle for everyone who saw a not-red-maple leaf and was like hurf durf potleaf way to go brah

I would have a lot of nickles

Pot leaves are the bat-symbol of idiots.

Unfortunately, anything even remotely potleaf-shaped will also work.

and you would be making money in a really weird way.

this is something i had not considered. i also probably should ask my wife if she would still like me if i did such a thing.

Is there any diplomatic way of conveying to my Dad that a guy on Youtube calling himself "1NationUnder1God3in1", and whose only other videos appear to be about how 'Islam = Bad', is probably not going to be your best source for unbiased, rational analysis of the dense policy legislation that is the current health care reform bill?

Because he just sent me an email with a video about health care reform.

    title:
    "THIS WILL SCARE YOU"

I mean it scares me, but only in the sense that he was dumb enough to send such a thing to me, rather than the actual content of the video. Not even taking my political views into account, but taking into consideration that I don't have and cannot afford health insurance- in order to scare me the bill would have to introduce something that would be even worse than what I've got, such as having federal goons coming to my apartment to break my legs. Sorry, coverage for living will consultation doesn't exactly keep me up at night.

HP Scanjet 4570c and I'm downloading from the website. Also, yes, it says Driver and Imaging Software.

You'd think HP PCs with bundled HP imaging software would have the drivers for their scanners, but nope.

When you go to install you'll probably get the option to just install the TWAIN driver and not all the other crap. Dumb that you can't get just what you need and not everything else with it, though.

Not really, dads don't usually take well to sons telling them why they are horribly wrong. No matter how concise the argument.

That's what I figured, I just wanted to get it off my chest more than anything.

From my brother on the matter:
"the willingness to trust very dubious sources of information is the most worrisome thing to me. I was kind of embarrassed for him regarding that "new stealth fighter plane--first flown by a woman, you go girl!" fwd he sent out a few weeks ago that was actually a photo of Jessica biel on the set of "Stealth"."

    :?

Also my brother has apparently tried to engage him on meaningful debate in the past. Apparently, the fact that my brother is currently working on a PhD in health care policy wasn't much help against such powerful arguments as, "WELL I DON'T LIKE PAYING TAXES", which is basically where my father's understanding of government policy starts and stops.

I don't have a problem with paying taxes, I have a problem with it being pissed away on stupid shit. Like an airport scanner that can see ten feet up your butthole just in case you've hidden a shoe up there that also has a bomb in it.

I can't believe that people who aren't making a fuckload of cash out of US health are demanding it not be changed.

"I demand that I continue to be fucked over by medical professionals and insurance companies!"

I mean I get resisting the change if it's going to mean you can't buy a Bugatti Veyron, but for the down trodden? It's like resisting not getting kicked in the balls.

I was in a show this June. I was out of town the rest of the summer, and have been unable to contact the gallery since then. Turns out it's because they packed up shop and moved to Toronto without telling anyone. I may not be able to get my art back.

not really. i'm completely broke and i don't have the money to go to toronto or pay for them to ship it back. i can only hope they end up here where they can hand it off, or i'll just let it go and paint a replica or something.
