Just did my first-ever Wrath dungeon: Utgarde Keep on Normal.
And by "did" I mean "we wiped so many times on the final boss due to the DPS Warrior pulling aggro before the Paladin could build hate that aggro got out of control that the group finally disbanded."
I did manage to somehow pull 1.2k DPS completely out of my ass on my 70 Rogue in nothing but quest greens though. I literally have no idea what I'm doing.

Also the very important new silly goose rule is in effect and does affect this forum.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
As to the DPS discussion, as I remember it, at WOTLK launch 2K DPS was essentially the standard expected of a DPS class when it started raiding.
If you couldn't pull at least 2k, you sucked/needed to gear up more/etc and weren't Raid Ready.
Yeah, although... Most of the discussion has been specificly targetting heroic dps, and I'd hold people to higher standards in a raid than a heroic, partially due to raid buffs.
That number sounds right for raids though from what I remember, which seems really low for a raid now, but that was the way dps was (I wonder what sort of effects balancing has had over entry level, or if it was just the way average gear was).
(As an aside, my own dps was higher, significantly enough where I really thought I'd see some significant warlock nerfs in one of the early 3.0.x patches, but they didn't touch warlocks too much until 3.1)
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
You silly geese spent like a dozen pages last thread talking about acceptable heroic dps. Why don't we instead talk about hunters that queue for regular Trial of the Champion, don't know how to mount up and ignore the riders that spawn on top of them, fly into the raid instance portal for a few minutes, then fly to the west end of the tournament grounds when told to take the north-side entrance?
I would complain about hunters being singled out, but I have a screen shot of a melee hunter saying 'fuck you I play how I want' then getting kicked from the group.
It's not just hunters! We have the DKs who only spam icy touch at range (ranged DK oh lawls) and the warlocks who use krol blades and roll on melee necks.
Just off the top of my head. And I know one of them was posted today. ;-)

My hunter's up to level 19, has gotten into five random dungeons so far, and has yet to fall below doing 40% of total group damage done. And always ready to pet-Growl mobs off healers.
Yeah, it's all lowbie stuff so far, but I'm liking this hunter thing.
Playing the hunter seems to give me the best feeling of freedom in a raid. No threat cap, not highly restricted by cast times, largest range, easy target swapping etc. I think it's the only class that gets more complex as you go from leveling to raiding, unlike say blizzard leveling vs two button arcane mages.
Also I got carried through bt on my warlock and I got maelstrom's fury, and I'm using it over the boa staff because it looks so awesome. None of the wrath stuff looks as good as the bt/sunwell weapons.
First recount is sorted by Gearscore. Pretty clear evidence that gearscore means absolutely fucking nothing and people who judge other people based solely on it are dumb as hell.
So what else should people use? guessing? there's no other objective way to look at what a person is capable of. You could be the most amazing player in the world but your gear score is 2000 behind mine so I'm capable of doing several thousand more dps, and in that case I would be doing several thousand more dps.
Maybe if the addon did anything besides add together your total ilvl into a number i would have a bit more enthusiasm for it. I use wow-heroes to judge my own character because it takes into consideration my gems/enchants.

Not judging people before you see how they perform would be a decent enough way but people are so worried about "wasting time" in a video game where all we are doing is "wasting time" so you can't really expect people to behave in a reasonable manner.
So I just had my first instance a of DPS queing as tank because he didn't like the long wait times of DPS.
He did not have any tank gear and I didn't notice until Paletress. I was wondering why we wiped on the Grand Champions and why I kept pulling aggro on the shade from Paletress. His tank gear was 2 pieces of tank gear and what ever DPS gear he wanted.
I had to hearth and put on my shoddy tank set just to kill her and the Black Knight and I just stayed in my DPS spec any ways.

The heavily-geared priest probably isn't going to be scoring highly on the DPS charts much due to being the healer. But there's also a lot to be said for AoEing trash packs as a mage. I'd say having high-level gear comes into play more specifically on raid boss encounters. On trash, anything's fine.
Seems to have worked for, what, 5 years? Before Gearscore came and fucked it all up.

...except that if I'm an amazing player and you suck, but my GS is 2000 lower, I'm CAPABLE of kicking the shit out of your DPS.
And very well might just be.
And in the case of most (if not all) people who think Gearscore is anything more than this expansions Arena Rating/Thunderfury/Whatever (people can, and are, carried. A lot.) usually ARE below those whose GS they mock, assuming the person with low GS is actually good.
Sabre: It looks like DTK, so it's pretty much all the 1-2 pulls (very little AoE, especially Arcane) and Tharonja (who favors Melee characters due to the nature of the Steal Flesh, though not as badly as it used to).
TL; DR: I'd like to say Gearscore is the worst thing to happen to WoW, but the Arena is still around.
wow, lag is a funny thing. I accidently dismounted in the air over some water, landed in the water, swam around a bit, and then died from falling damage, in that order.
I'm not sure what I even hit, other than the water.
End on

The only people who dislike gear score are people with low scores. I could complain the same way about achievements as maybe I've read the wiki strat and watched vids on how to down a boss while some guy who stood in the fire and died but wasn't kicked because replacing them was too big of a hassle gets the achievement and will get a group over me.

Silly goose king doesn't even rhyme.
I lol'd
and Deathwing better not be a silly goose unless if he is able to randomly attack players just to mess with them

Oh Goddamn it SabreMau.

Eh, I never found it to be that different on my druid, but then again... I only raided up to Kara, ZG, and some AQ40 haha.
I think about 1 minute?

Which kills you with falling damage.....
Yep.
EDIT: Also, your horses make me laugh.
Well, either I'm a lot better than I thought, or else the people I'm getting pugged with are just that bad.
